ErikBerghiller
Bought this two years ago after talking to a ski shop manager who told me my 64.5 "Connelly was a child ski, changed my game a little ... i like the shape of the front on this one! Baller thager Posted January 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2017 @skiinxs That's a Torque all right, but the original they came out with had a Blue tip with white stars. The remainder of the ski was red and white stripes that ran vertical Was a very sharp looking ski! I have found some color variations of the Torque Super Comp over the years but can't seem to find the Stars and Stripes scheme anywhere.

Baller Nando Posted January 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2017 Wow, skiinxs, I was also thinking of the graphics thager was, but had forgotten about that heel cup- yikes! Interesting tunnel design, too.

Baller Nando Posted January 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2017 At the ugly end of the spectrum, I may have skied on these at one time, but... Dave Saucier had a color-coordinated Mastercraft with a 440 Chrysler engine- Hank Longo ended up with the boat (see "Anyone Remember This?" thread)
Baller thager Posted January 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2017 I still have the trick skis. Bindings are orange/magenta double wraps.
Baller 6balls Posted January 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2017 @thager I've only broken two skis...but lots-a ropes/handles! If I remember my brother Dan may have been on the torque when it broke...I was pretty young @razorskier1 probably remembers better.
Baller KRoundy Posted January 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2017 I love the sharp and modern look of today's equipment, but back when, the pinstripes on the mid-80's Kidder Redline Pro Graphite were a cut above everything else. Yeah - I'm a bit old... :)
kingshredd
I am with @Horton, I have the 2014 CX Superlite and have gotten many comments on how good looking the ski is compared to the skier that rides it :D But I am thinking the new HO VTX could be quiet the looker also. Baller ALPJr Posted January 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2017 thought my some of my other skis were cool looking too, Phantom Carbon, VTX, Extreme 9.7, Concept, CompX2, but my first real ski, wooden O'Brien Competitor looked real nice especially when I mounted rubber high wraps on it. Got those bindings back in the days of COD from an add in the Water Skier. Surprised the heck out of my mom when they showed up at the house and I was in school. Oops :)
Baller Stejcraftben Posted January 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2017 My dad brought this new 20 or so years ago and he still skis it twice a week. It even had the original kidder front binding till a week ago. I used to think it was the most awesome ski when I was kid.

Baller skiinxs Posted January 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2017 @skibrain I bought it new in the early 70's. Lucky I never had a fin pop out and re-bite for a broken ankle with no release on the rigid overlay.
Baller ALPJr Posted January 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2017 @Stejcraftben one of my ski buds still uses that Kidder. He just put a new fin on it. The original broke mid wake at the end of last season.
Baller skiinxs Posted January 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2017 @swc5150 I had one of those early MasterCraft slaloms. I really used to like that ski! I think I bought it at the DuQuoin Nationals in the early 80's.

Baller ScottScott Posted January 14, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 14, 2017 Seems HO has had a couple really nice looking skis. I agree with Hortan about the mostly black CX in his 1st post, but I always liked the blue/black here. My choice to get an Elite was largely due to its looks. Baller A_B Posted January 14, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 14, 2017 The original black Stiletto was pretty sharp. I liked the Strada with its carbon looking top. Baller kc Posted January 14, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 14, 2017 @dchristman Great American was made at/by Cypress Gardens. I don't remember them trying to hide that fact. Baller RAWSki Posted January 17, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 17, 2017 For me it has to be the first gen. O'Brien Competitor. It looked cool and made the biggest spray!

Baller B_S Posted January 17, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 17, 2017 From the 80s, the original O'brien TRC was really nice. Black with gold pinstripe and the red TRC lettering.
Baller wettek69 Posted January 18, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 18, 2017 When I was a kid, I could never work out if the old O'Brien Competitor graphics was meant to be trees on a shoreline or a spray. Still not entirely sure....................

Baller eddie_roberts_jr Posted January 18, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 18, 2017 @wettek69 The graphics you see on the Competitor are indeed taken from a picture of the east shore of Lake Sammamish.
Baller JC McCavit Posted January 19, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 19, 2017 @eddie_roberts_jr - My first Competitor looked more like spray or a sound frequency wave. My second Competitor a year later had the trees. Was there a difference or did I just imagine it?
Baller wettek69 Posted January 19, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 19, 2017 @eddie_roberts_jr It's taken from an actual photo? Wow. I always wondered. Does that Lake hold any particular significance?
Baller Bill22 Posted January 19, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 19, 2017 Maybe not the best ever but the HO Nitro from 06-07 had a black leather top that was pretty cool. Ok it was probably vinyl fake leather but still a one of a kind.

Baller Bill22 Posted January 19, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 19, 2017 The leather look always reminded me of a new sports car with a big V8. @Horton what about a ski with flames? Gotta love a car or ski with flames on it.
Baller aupatking Posted January 19, 2017 Baller Share Posted January 19, 2017 @Bill22 , no ya don't. As much as I normally agree with you, my friend, neither my GT, nor my Sunbeam Tiger need flames.
