Baller Jordan Posted July 17, 2017 Baller Share Posted July 17, 2017 So, a neighbor phones early Saturday morning and says they are taking on water and they are in front of my dock. I run down to help. They have a new to them 2007 Mastercraft 197 Tournament Team with an MCX. We discovered that one of the exhaust hoses has come off of the 45 degree elbow that connects the two hoses before the muffler. We had to get the doghouse and rear floor panel out in order to get to it and get the elbow securely back into both pieces and get the band clamps tight. I've been an inboard owner for a long time and been around a bunch of these boats and I've never seen it Question: has anyone had this happen before? Do you think that perhaps an exhaust hose had been replaced and they forgot to tighten the band clamps? .
Baller gregy Posted July 18, 2017 Baller Share Posted July 18, 2017 I've had leaks in that area but never come completely off.
Baller Mastercraft81SnS Posted July 18, 2017 Baller Share Posted July 18, 2017 I had that happen to a neighbor before, but he bought the boat and it was sitting for years. My dad stoped by and got it running for him in 5 minutes then he decided it was time to go skiing. My neighbor could never get the boat running right. Baller OldGuysRule Posted July 18, 2017 Baller Share Posted July 18, 2017 Had the two fiberglass down pipes right after the manifolds break down on a 2003 Nautique....it was like they were rotten....pin holes all over letting exhaust and bubbles permeate when engine was running. Easy replacement.
