Baller matt_b Posted November 30, 2017 Baller Share Posted November 30, 2017 My wife informed me that my heater shirt is looking ratchet so I need a new one!! Nice. Any recommendation's? Good for water in the mid 60's and up. Looking at the O'neill Hyperfreak 05 mil and a Hyperflex 50-50. Hyperflex has a neoprene body and different material on the sleeves. Stokes looks nice but $150.00?
Baller_ MISkier Posted November 30, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted November 30, 2017 Camaro Blacktec 1.5 The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller Andy Posted November 30, 2017 Baller Share Posted November 30, 2017 I have a Hyperfreak. Nice shirt and just finished 2nd season with no rips or tears. Perfski treated me right, great people!
Baller matt_b Posted December 1, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted December 1, 2017 How thick is the Hyperfreak that you have, the .5 or the 1.5 mm?
Baller Sivota Posted December 1, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 1, 2017 I have a Hyperfreak 0.5. I agree with @Andy - it fits me well, is effective and has no rips or tears. It was so good I bought a second one.
Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted December 1, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted December 1, 2017 Camaro blacktec hands down. I had an O’Neil guru that I loved and finally wore out after 10 years. Got a blacktec from Robbie’s ski shop this fall and was amazed at just how warm it was. On sale for $99 Sorry about the long link https://www.robbysskishop.com/store/p3/CamaroBlacktecTopWetsuitTop If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
Baller ski6jones Posted December 1, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 1, 2017 @Bruce_Butterfield How long have you had the Camaro?
Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted December 1, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted December 1, 2017 I got it this fall and probably have 20 sets on it. It is actually easier to get on than my old guru and no tears so far. I think the key to its warmth is that it lets in almost no water. If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
Baller Andre Posted December 1, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 1, 2017 Ditto on the Camaro for Canuckland weather! Best thing since the wheel... :)
Baller dchristman Posted December 1, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 1, 2017 Mid 60's and up I say Camaro Modetec or nothing.
Baller GregHind Posted December 1, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 1, 2017 Which one is warmer blacktec or modtec? Any other differences? Are they a tight fit? I purchased an eagle with taped seams, it was supposed to be the best but the size recommended was off and water flowed through it. I'm on the other side of the world so freight to get here and back is a killer. I want warm, form fitting and a bit of stretch to my shape
Baller dchristman Posted December 1, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 1, 2017 @GregHind BlackTec is definitely warmer, but for mid 60's and up I prefer the Modetec. Both fit like a second skin, but Modetec is thinner and less restrictive. But ... if I could only have one top, I would buy the BlackTec. I would say the best scenario for Modetec is when it's warm enough that you don't really need a top, but chilly enough that you're just not going to take that second set without a top because you're a pussy. You put the Modetec on and then you don't think about the temperature. Does that make sense?
Administrators Horton Posted December 1, 2017 Administrators Share Posted December 1, 2017 Should surprise no one that I am using the Stokes hot top and am really happy with it. Because of the zipper it is easy to get into and is still snug. Might be my favorite Stokes product. Baller Mick04 Posted December 1, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 1, 2017 +1 for O’Neill. I have a Gooru 2:1 (about 5 years, I don’t think they make it anymore), warm, durable, flexible. It’s the second one I’ve owned, the first one lasted 10 years. I finally did it in scuba diving in salt water, installing/removing docks etc. Call Performance, they can recommend the most similar current model. I would get the 1.5mm for the extra warmth, mobility will be fine. That being said, my ski partner has a Camaro Blactec and loves it. He is super careful with it though because of durability concerns.
Baller WoodySkier Posted December 1, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 1, 2017 Eagle frontzip, best I’ve had. The O’Neill one I had fell apart. I have a hyper flex one that is ok, not as nice of material as the eagle.
Baller igkya Posted December 1, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 1, 2017 Camao Blacktop top. Lightweight and warm. I've used mine 30-40 day's each of the last 3 seasons and it's still holding up well.
Baller Andy Posted December 1, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 1, 2017 @matt_b I have the 1.5 Hyperfreak.
Baller lakeaustinskier Posted December 1, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 1, 2017 Camero Blacktec 1.5 I've seen them for sale for around $100. Sure they might be fragile but if you know that going in then you'll be careful. I've had mine for two years. Be sure to get a snug fit
Baller LeonL Posted December 2, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 2, 2017 @skihard I took a look on Overton's website and there isn't a lot of info. The shirt is neoprene right? It says reversible, so same material inside as out?
Members acmx
@LeonL ,I bought one of the Overtons tops, the fit was really bad on the one I had. The sleeves were so tight I could hardly get them on and the body was loose enough for a 300 lb person. I sent it back.
Baller LeonL Posted December 2, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 2, 2017 @acmx fat boy shirt huh? I forgot, what brand/style do you have?
Baller skihard Posted December 4, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 4, 2017 @LeonL - mine is perfect and yes reversible both sides. Mine works great and a few of my ski buddies use them too.
Baller matt_b Posted December 4, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted December 4, 2017 Sizing is interesting. Looking at the chart it say's I should wear a long short. Called Robbie and she said a medium. Then I tried a neighbors and his XL was just a hair big if any. Felt really nice though.
