Baller Wayne Posted April 28, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 28, 2018 Point of reference, my 2002 Sunsetter had a 3”.
Baller FSSPCat Posted April 28, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted April 28, 2018 Thanks @Wayne. I would assume it would be the same.
Baller Ski_Dad Posted April 28, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 28, 2018 3" - do yourself a favor get the good stuff, mine had the cheapie stuff in it and it's was crap compared to what I picked up at a good dealer.
Baller FSSPCat Posted April 28, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted April 28, 2018 @Mitzysman. I was just going to replace the fan. Do you normally need to replace the hose too?
Baller Ski_Dad Posted April 28, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 28, 2018 sorry I misread your question - i thought you were asking about the hose. I just did mine a few weeks ago b/c it was aging and brittle and kept falling into the trunk. You might find that you won't be able to get the old stuff off without cracking it, not sure. Baller gregy Posted April 29, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 29, 2018 My 99" Rlx is 3", should be the same as yours. I replaced my blower and hose about 5 years ago. Was doing some maintenance the other day and noticed the tubing was rotted away. I bought some blue duct tubing . There are some silicon and other types but that were recommended on forums but they were much more expensive.
Baller foxriverat Posted April 29, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 29, 2018 I just buy the 3 inch white vinyl duct from Menards https://www.menards.com/main/heating-cooling/ductwork/flexible-duct/dundas-jafine-vinyl-duct-white/fd38ezw/p-1444429338794.htm
Baller Wayne Posted April 30, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 30, 2018 Another weird thing, my blower fan was mounted against the stringer in the bilge. Essentially the low point. Mine failed from getting wet so I relocated to the ski locker and never had any issues after that.
Baller UWSkier Posted April 30, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 30, 2018 @Wayne, there's a reason for that. Gasoline vapors are more dense than normal air thus they'll settle to the lowest possible point. The lower you can get your blower, the more thorough evacuation of any vapors becomes. Might be worth running a tube from the current blower mount point to the low point of the bilge on the intake side of the blower.
Baller BraceMaker Posted April 30, 2018 Baller Share Posted April 30, 2018 @UWSkier that's how all the ones I've seen are done, a bit of a snorkel pipe down into the bilge from the blower can't imagine the blower being down there though.
Baller Wayne Posted May 1, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 1, 2018 @UWSkier you are very correct. I still had a tube running down to the low point of the bilge to properly evacuate gasoline vapor/fumes. I guess I didn’t explain the modifications fully. My 2009 Response LXI is configured in the same way I had to modify my 2002 Sunsetter.
