Radar HRT rear behave like the Reflex R?

Hey Guys,

 

My R style reflex rear works well, but I’m thinking the Radar HRT style rear will be easier to deal with. No liner, easier to put my foot back in while in the water etc.

 

Question is, will the ease of release in a crash be comparable?

 

I run a reflex shell in the front.

I tried to go to HRTP from an RTP, and your foot will slide right out no problem, nothing to worry about. I ended up staying with RTP but it wasn’t because of how it released, just a preference.

Going from double Vapor tried the HRTP and couldn't make it work. R-style was an easy transition. I was right at the top of the size range for the HRTP, so that might be why it didn't work for me.

@ski6jones top of size range? If you have size 14 feet, do you actually need a ski? (comes in 2 sizes)

I'm a solid 12 and i think there was just one size when i first tried it spring of last year. I took the laces out and it was better but it restricted the instep of my rear foot to much. Maybe a 13-14 would work better but i doubt it will work better than the R-style.

I used to use the R-Style. For me it was OK but not great.

Now I use the HRT. Comfortable, no release issues. It is not as easy as a RTP to put on in the water, but easier than the R-Style.

I use the reflex front with a radar HRT and It is an extremely comfortable system that I feel releases safely.
