Baller WBLskier Posted January 4, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 4, 2019 I'm looking to help a friend find a new slalom ski package (ski, front boot, rtp). He is mid 40's 5'5 and under 140 lbs. He mostly free skis but is looking to start skiing the course. He is a decent free skier and skis at mostly 32mph. When he gets into the course he'll need to slow down. He wants to spend $500 or under and needs bindings in for that too. He's open to new or used ski. Thanks for any recommendations.
Baller BraceMaker Posted January 4, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 4, 2019 What's he been using? Are the old bindings toast? 500 isn't un-doable but goes a lot further when you aren't trying to get boots at the same time.
ellenm
http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?endless=summer&topic=Search&category=Slalom&postid=49610 I think this is a good price for a newer Radar. It's stable and would work well at 32 mph for his size.
Baller_ Rednucleus Posted January 4, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted January 4, 2019 See if you can find a used HO Superlite CX or Omni; IMO a nice choice for how he skis BTW what's he on now & could his bindings go on another ski? Like this one - $100 over his price but new https://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-Superlite-CX-65-W-HO-xMAX-Binding-size-7-11-2017/192621593218?hash=item2cd9244282:g:jssAAOSwSP9bazbh:rk:1:pf:
Baller Bill22 Posted January 4, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 4, 2019 I never was a fan of the CX. There was a 2017 Vapor Graphite 66 on Ski it again for $200. This ski will be good for him down to 28 mph. Same ski I have at 135 lb. If he ever skis at 34 a 65 would probably be better. my .
Baller Ski_Dad Posted January 4, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 4, 2019 i have a 2017 66" vapor graphite for 250.00 + shipping - if you are interested PM me. It's has a few blemishes but hasn't see water. I just set the fin to Chris Rossi specs the other day - it's right on the money now. You could probably pickup some closeout bindings from Performance Ski that could be used with it and be close to 500 total. I really like my Vectors and Radar RTP. I can also recommend the HO CX and have seen some good deals for those on eBay.
Baller Ski_Dad Posted January 4, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 4, 2019 this also looks like a solid buy - not sure if 65 is too small at learning speeds or not http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?endless=summer&topic=Search&category=Slalom&postid=47879
Baller Bill22 Posted January 4, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 4, 2019 I forgot to say... Senate, Omni, Connelly V would be my first choice. Just saying if you want a Vapor for $200 that’s a steal.
Baller theboardingschool Posted January 5, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 5, 2019 65' Senate, Vector boot, and RTP. Can't be beat.
Baller Jmoski Posted January 5, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 5, 2019 +1 on the Senate or one of its competitor equivalents.
Baller Dacon62 Posted January 7, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 7, 2019 He will be very happy with a ‘17 or newer Senate.

Baller Connelly_Skis_Inc Posted January 8, 2019 Baller Share Posted January 8, 2019 Hey @WBLskier. Lot's of great suggestions going on in this forum. We definitely recommend checking out our Carbon V . I'm sure Seth Stisher or Joel Howley will pipe in at some point, but the Carbon V is super forgiving but opens up huge potential to learning and advancing in the course. https://www.connellyskis.com/carbonv.html
