@Horton, I think the biggest issue is the volume difference between you and your guests.

 

Seems like you are turned up to a three while everyone else goes to 11.

 

You should probably stay in the closet........

It's a bit better. I think it's more about the type-of-mic + distance-from-mic combo. Are you using a shotgun mic? If not, you may need to bring the mic closer unless it's a very directional mic. You might want to try a cheap lavalier (label) mic (which isn't directional, but is positioned so close to the speaker's mouth that it sounds more natural).

As was mentioned before...I think the biggest issue was just the volume difference. Somewhere in your software (or any outboard equipment you may have in line) there is a level control....just bring your mic up a little. There is less room reflections in the closet, which is good, but it wasn't terrible before.
