We are going to start a run of t-shirts for this event this week.

If you're registering for this amazing tourney and would like a t-shirt please let Jim or Rod know size and it will be ready for you when you arrive.

All shirts will be tie dyed in memory of Susan (her fave :) )and will have tournament logo on back and Ski Texas Logo on front. Please note tournament logo is a bit different than add above.

$15.00 / each with $5.00 from every shirt will be given to Jim and added to his personal donation to the two charities!

Stay tuned for announcements and updates!

If you have not been to Ski Texas. Slalom looks like a par 5 at Augusta. Huge trees lining both sides of the slalom lake. 2 year old Dugan jump facing southeast. Primary wind SE on the jump lake. Crazy good overall site. Always a great time.

This was a GREAT tournament! Plenty of college skiers, one skier somewhere around 90 years old, Freddy Kruegers sister (forgive me, don't remember her name), Hot Lunch served, dinner party on Saturday night, golf cart to pick up those who fell at the other end of the lake, 2 very young youth skiers that will likely be INCREDIBLE in the not too near future etc. If you didn't make it this year, plan for it next year. Thanks @skihard for the idea of a memorial tournament. Thanks Jim and Susan for being incredible people!

Susan Thompson Memorial Ski Tournament Recap

I wanted to have this tournament in her honor since even though she was not a tournament official

or competitor, she supported the sport from behind the scenes.

Susan loved being part of the hospitality of tournaments, baking her famous brownies or other deserts.

She also supported me in the many years I spent with Gordon Hall developing 5 residential ski sites, that

have hosted 4 AWSA Nationals, 2 US Opens, Collegiate Nationals, several AWSA Regionals, Jr US Open,

Collegiate tournaments, and many Class C and L local tournaments. I was away from home a lot in those

days and she often ran down materials or did other errands for us.

We had a full tournament of 35 skiers, and I appreciate everyone coming and supporting us here at Ski

Texas. Tina Lindsey set Regional Overall record in first round and Regional Jump Record second round.

Congratulations to her.

Thanks to Jamey Broaddus and Melissa Huitt for hosting dinner for everyone.

Thanks to Rod, Sue, and Lacey Long for making the T-shirts (hand tied dyes!) and graphics for them.

They also did lunch for everyone.

Based on the skiers entered, and T-shirt sales, and some cash donations, $535 for the Leukemia &

Lymphoma Society (donate.lls.org) and $535 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

(www.stjude.org) has been donated. Also Ron and Kathy Ives made $200 donation directly to St. Jude’s in Susan’s Memory.

Also thanks to everyone else that helped out judging, driving, and tech.

Jim Thompson
