FredGarvin
I've been using Rotella T but is there better oil I should be using?
Baller dbutcher Posted August 26, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 26, 2019 There is a thread about oil somewhere on this forum. If memory serves me, Rotella T is no longer right for marine engines because its formula has been changed. We need the classification SM or SN for gasoline engines. Older Rotella T had that but the current formulation does not. Research it more yourself.
Baller jhughes Posted August 26, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 26, 2019 The Excal is a roller motor so any 15-40ish oil will do. Delo is probably a good, reasonable oil in this category. I'm sure Rotella is still fine on that motor. The Rotella thing/change I believe is just (potentially) bad on cats which a 2002 won't have. Baller 2Valve Posted August 26, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 26, 2019 Shell Rotella 15w40 or Amsoil if you want to spend more money. My 2002 PCM 350 has had a steady diet of Shell Rotella. Just turned 900 hours this spring and zero issues and no oil burning.
Baller Ski_Dad Posted August 26, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 26, 2019 any 15w40 oil will work just fine. Don't over think it :)
