Baller UWSkier Posted September 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 13, 2019 I'll be flying with wet gear this weekend. Like straight from the lake to the airport. Any of you other road warriors have any secrets to prevent your stuff from reeking to high heaven? Total in bag time should be around 9 hours. I live in AZ so airing out in the sun is doable the next day... But an oz of prevention beats a lb of cure... Or so they say.
Baller ReallyGottaSki Posted September 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 13, 2019 Consider Rinse gear with good water from a hose don't let the swampy sit on it to fester
Baller kc Posted September 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 13, 2019 Put all your wet things in one of those giant Ziploc bags. I also put some of the sneaker balls in my ski bag.
Baller mfjaegersr Posted September 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 13, 2019 Pre-pack hanging will help drip dry; wring stuff out, gloves especially. Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted September 13, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted September 13, 2019 Embrace the funk! The aroma! Physical evidence of your adventure! Or just rinse it all out after you get where going and let dry..
Baller Chef23 Posted September 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 13, 2019 If you can rinse it out with clean water vs lake water it helps. I would bring a trash bag and try to throw all your wet stuff in that if you can. I have done it a few times and if you just take it out as soon as you get home and rinse it all out it will be fine. Baller skimtb Posted September 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 13, 2019 If you could barrow a jacket and towel where you are skiing, then put gloves and suit in baggie that would help. If not, wring it out, hang on the back of the car seats on the way to the airport if you want additional drying, then pack and go. Have fun and don’t worry about it too much. Best part is being able to ski somewhere else and meet others with the passion. That surpasses wet stinky stuff.
Baller BraceMaker Posted September 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 13, 2019 Rinse the stuff out ring out your shorts/gloves as much as you can. Try to spin the vest to flick as much out of it as you can and then leave it out as long as you can. If you have a hanger put the vest in your rear window and let that ride. Baller mfjaegersr Posted September 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 13, 2019 Also - At home or on the road, Micro-fiber towels are the ticket. Superlight, less bulky, absorbing, and quick drying. Waaay better than typical beach towel. Baller OldboyII Posted September 17, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 17, 2019 When travel long distances with wet stuff I do following - -place all things into thick garbage bag with some gel soap and water. -tie it and kicking it for a short time (this is my DIY washing machine :) ) -then rinse it in the same bag -squeeze air and water as it possible -tie it again and put in luggage At home i have fresh and clean things which just need extra rinsing

Baller 6balls Posted September 18, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 18, 2019 I've had stuff so wet in my sport-tube cuz we skied then busted it for the airport that it's dripping out the where the pieces come together. Get home, take everything out and hang it dry. Keeps the TSA out of your sport-tube! (not really) :)
Baller UWSkier Posted September 18, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted September 18, 2019 I did the garbage bag trick. I was coming from Radar lake on a cool day so everything started kinda fresh and chilled. Took it out and hung it up immediately when I got home and things didn't stank. TSA did still raid my kit... Baller UWSkier Posted September 18, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted September 18, 2019 @mfjaegersr I know! That was totally a bucket list item for me. And I skied a PB! My PB is on Radar Lake. I'm pretty good with that notion!
