Baller Kimbymon Posted May 8, 2020 Baller Share Posted May 8, 2020 With the announcement from USA Water Ski that they will again begin sanctioning on May 18th, the 1st Annual Kim Wilk Water Ski Classic is proceeding as originally scheduled. In light of COVID-19, we have made a few modifications to ensure your safety at this event. * We will have touchless hand sanitizers around the lake * We will have boxed lunches from Panera instead of a BBQ lunch * We have eliminated the inflatable slide for the kids * We have time slots for skiers, so that we can ensure that there is not a large group of people waiting at the dock All tickets, participant and spectator, will still receive a t-shirt and pint glass. It is almost an entire mile around the lake, so there is plenty of room to spread out and do our "social distancing". I look forward to seeing you all on June 27th. Please come and help us fight Cystic Fibrosis! letsrockcf.org/kim-wilk-water-ski-classic Please click the above link to sign up for this awesome event. Baller Kimbymon Posted May 15, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted May 15, 2020 A note about the cost of this event. Because Cystic Fibrosis has typically been a "childhood" disease, little kids, when told they have Cystic Fibrosis are unable to pronounce it correctly and it comes out as "sixty-five roses". That has been the campaign of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for years. We thought it would be a good reminder of what we are fighting for. CF is a nasty disease, decreasing our lung function over time and many times leading to the need for a double lung transplant. The goal of the Rock CF foundation is to change the face of what living with Cystic Fibrosis looks like and giving those of us living with CF not only the tools to survive, but thrive. Please come and make this event a huge success. There are so many of us out there that want to live a long and healthy life and it's fundraisers like this that will help us achieve that goal. Baller MuskokaKy Posted May 15, 2020 Baller Share Posted May 15, 2020 Hey Kim, Great message. Unfortunately we will not be coming down for the event due to the whole ordeal and border issues....however we will still buy our tickets to support and hope you will run it again next year. I was really looking forward to coming down to MI but will mark it down for 2021. Hope you have a great turnout and lots of fun!
Baller Kimbymon Posted May 15, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted May 15, 2020 @MuskokaKy Thanks so much! If they open the border we would love to see you. I'll send you a PM.
Baller Orlando76 Posted May 15, 2020 Baller Share Posted May 15, 2020 Lung problems is only half of the battle with Cystic Fibrosis. The digestive issues are unbearable. Pancreatic Deficiency causes Diabetes in the teenage years and the inability to absorb nutrients for proper weight gain throughout life. Digestive blockages are too common, resulting in periods of vomiting and intestinal surgeries along with gastric feeding tubes. The toll on families due to hospitalizations and the financial burden is immense. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is one of the highest ranked and most respectable charities out there. Their role in fighting CF was apparent with the October 22, 2019 FDA approval of a break-through drug fighting this disease. The goals haven’t been reached yet, the treatment isn’t available to all yet and there is still no cure. Help support turning CF into Cure Found. Baller Kimbymon Posted May 21, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted May 21, 2020 Just an update, we have made this a virtual event for those that are not comfortable skiing with us or who cannot travel due to COVID-19 restrictions. We WILL still be out there on June 27th at Lake Lynette but not being with us will not keep you from participating. All "virtual" participants and spectators will still receive a T-shirt and Pint Glass, shipped to them. For the raffle everyone will be assigned a number and we will do the raffle via Facebook Live. If you win depending on where you live, we will either ship your raffle item to you, or I will deliver it. We are encouraging participants to post pics and video to our Facebook event page. letsrockcf.org/kim-wilk-water-ski-classic Thanks, Kim

Baller_ MISkier Posted June 28, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted June 28, 2020 Great turnout today and fantastic conditions and weather (which got even better after the pictures from @DaveD). We ran the boats continuously from about 10:00AM to 6:00PM. Many new faces on the course and some were running it quite well. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
