Baller lewis310 Posted August 16, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2020 My wife has been skiing open water for over 35 years. A few years back we moved to a waterski community and she recently decided that she would like to try the mini-course. She is not an aggressive skier and I’m having trouble getting her to lean and pull through the wakes. She is skiing on a 35-year-old Kidder Supreme. I’m thinking that if she wants to do more than open water playing, I need to get her a new ski. I’m thinking a Radar Lyric, but looking for other suggestions. Thoughts? Baller MitchellM Posted August 16, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2020 Lyric is a good choice. How about a carbon Omni or a Connelly Carbon V?
Baller vtmecheng Posted August 16, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2020 I have a feeling that moving to either a women's Omni or Lyric will be awesome for her. I'd get whichever is on sale this fall and she will have a great time.
Baller ejj Posted August 16, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2020 Or even the Union or Session. You can have fun skiing the course at slower speeds with either.
Baller thager Posted August 16, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2020 You guys are all assuming he likes the wife!
hchwilson
I'm female and have been free skiing about 45 years, give or take. I recently bought last year's ON SALE version of the HO Omni. I like it very much. I mistakenly tried a Radar Lyric last year and quickly determined it is more of a novice ski.
hchwilson
I'm sorry. It wasn't the Radar Lyric I didn't like, it was a 2016 Radar P-6 (purchased new). Too wide.
Baller Dirt Posted August 17, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 17, 2020 What about a Goode Fire Mid? Check Goodes website for Goode Dealz $520 new. Excellent ski, super easy to ride and forgiving.
Baller skinut Posted August 17, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 17, 2020 I thought this thread was going to be about us helping you to pick a wife. I missed the ski part in the title.
Baller escmanaze Posted August 17, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 17, 2020 I agree overall with the sentiment that it's tough to go wrong with a lyric or omni right now. However, for best and most precise recommendation possible, it would be wise for you to provide more info. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-NiENHZt0sC7WDBaeVk6QK9OJzQ4-DYISGE1h_PPjPI/edit A great example is that @hchwilson understandably didn't like the P6, but it is the perfect course ski for my 75 year old dad who skis like this: If anything, I would need a ski that's even fatter for him so we could slow down a bit more and start to try to get some orange balls. Baller thager Posted August 17, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 17, 2020 If I was a betting man, I would recommend an HO Truth.....
Martin1980
Get the HO Carbon or Syndicate Omni and don't look back, best ski out there for most people in my opinion. Easy to get up on, turns without thinking, fast, and a very capable course ski through 32' off.
Baller Shell Posted August 18, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 18, 2020 I would recommend a Radar Lyric, the lyric will help her get thru the course. Get on SIA and get her a used Lyric, I have had 3 different Lyrics and loved them, I'm now on a Goode.
reedhntr
I went thru several skis for my wife until the Omni. They all did something she didn't like. According to her, the Omni gets up easier, takes speed easier and turns easier than any ski she has ever skied on. Her ski is a 2019 Omni that was on sale for a very reasonable price. I am now looking for a syndicate Omni for her since we finally found a ski she likes...of course she will most likely not like the syndicate version as well...... Baller gsm_peter Posted August 19, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 19, 2020 Why not get her a ski week vacation that's include a new ski of her choise?
