Baller maxepr Posted August 30, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2020 Does anyone know if a 1983 Ski Centurion Tru Trac is/has been a USA Waterski "official" towboat?
Baller Hallpass Posted August 30, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2020 List here https://www.usawaterski.org/pages/divisions/3event/AWSAApprovedTowboatHistory.pdf . It it does not appear the boat was on the approved list in 83.
Administrators Horton Posted August 30, 2020 Administrators Share Posted August 30, 2020 It was in 1983. Is currently way out of date and could not be used for official competition. On the other hand if it is the boat you got and you are having fun go ski Goode ★ HO Syndicate ★ KD Skis ★ MasterCraft ★ PerfSki Radar ★ Reflex ★ S Lines ★ Stokes ★ Baller Video Coaching System Drop a dime in the can
Baller maxepr Posted August 30, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted August 30, 2020 Thank you. I've been skiing behind this boat for years and love it. Considering buying on a private ski lake but a USA Waterski official towboat is a requirement. Trying to figure out if I qualify.
Baller_ Wish Posted August 30, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted August 30, 2020 Pretty sure that’s just to keep the wake barges and jet skis off that lake. Official tow boat is most likely one that was official at any point in AWSA or USA Waterski history unless the guidelines for the lake specify newer the a certain year. Can you post the rule here? Baller maxepr Posted August 30, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted August 30, 2020 I don't have the written rule in hand but will pay attention to the fine print. Thanks to everyone for such helpful input.
Baller Ski_Dad Posted August 30, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2020 according to this article it is (sorry for the long link) https://books.google.com/books?id=_R02AQAAMAAJ&pg=PA53&dq=Ski+Centurion+Tru+Trac+tournament&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjO2o2N08PrAhUJCc0KHUj9CeQQ6AEwAnoECAUQAg#v=onepage&q=Ski%20Centurion%20Tru%20Trac%20tournament&f=false
Administrators Horton Posted August 30, 2020 Administrators Share Posted August 30, 2020 @maxepr unless your HOA is whacked-out crazy you should be fine with that boat Goode ★ HO Syndicate ★ KD Skis ★ MasterCraft ★ PerfSki Radar ★ Reflex ★ S Lines ★ Stokes ★ Baller Video Coaching System Drop a dime in the can
Baller LoopSki Posted August 30, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2020 I’m sure any DD ski boat would be just fine. Like Horton said , they would be nuts not to allow it.
Baller maxepr Posted August 30, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted August 30, 2020 Thank you all. Sounds like I'm good with the HOA. You were all very helpful.
Baller Cooper_Trelawney Posted August 31, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 31, 2020 Interesting list of awsa approved tow boats over the years. There was such a variety of manufacturers back in the day! Tournament approved outbound tow boat (Glastron Ski Machine) and tournament approved I/O (Ski Pro). I skied behind both of those often in my youth on Lake McQueeney. Boy, did they suck! But, the Ski Machine is sorta retro cool though.

Baller_ DW Posted August 31, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted August 31, 2020 @maxepr - I would certainly verify that an out of date approved boat qualifies. You might scan the boats on the lake to confirm.
Baller RAWSki Posted August 31, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 31, 2020 What Horton said. Ski your boat ---- pay your association fees on time and help out around the lake.
Baller Cent Posted August 31, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 31, 2020 It was an approved boat. I was a dealer. I had one I used.
Baller Timr71 Posted August 31, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 31, 2020 Just tell them that over the years you've come to like a clean looking exterior and therefore you removed some of the graphics including the US Open one. [technically, I think that US Open graphic was present on a few model years in the late 80s]
