Baller bigtex2011 Posted November 5, 2020 Baller Share Posted November 5, 2020 no. there have been lots of improvements to those lakes recently. there are lots of tourney around dfw in the summer months. hope that helps chris
ToddF
@bigtex2011 does the wind affect the lakes much? I know it is pretty open.
Baller bigtex2011 Posted November 5, 2020 Baller Share Posted November 5, 2020 The 3 lakes run pretty much north and south. South winds are the prevailing winds in dfw. You will definitely have to learn to ski in the wind here. July and August are relatively calm. It's not so bad once you get used to it. Lot's of great skiers in the area. you'll have fun. chris
Baller jayski Posted November 5, 2020 Baller Share Posted November 5, 2020 @ToddF and if it's too windy for ya you can come on over to Cottonwood and take sets there, where we RARELY have wind effect on the lake, could pick up @bigtex2011 on the way and have an 'eventful' day over here!! Members sbink
I am a lot owner at LATC.Bigtex described the lake direction and wind opportunities. There is no sun glare am/pm. Lake Granbury is a river lake so there are good places to open water ski. There was a ski club/course in the late70’s but the lake current during the rainy Season washed the course away(a few times). The town and area seems more laid back than DFW which is a definite plus.

Baller unksskis Posted November 6, 2020 Baller Share Posted November 6, 2020 Those lakes need a jump facing South, or a jump in general would be nice. The only course on public water in the DFW area is at Marine Creek with the MetroPlex Ski Club. I've heard sometimes there is one on the river, but can't confirm. There are a couple other ski communities in the DFW area as well.
