Baller LoopSki Posted March 7, 2021 Baller Share Posted March 7, 2021 I put in sand one year and had a nice beach feel in front of the house. But overtime it turned into the neighborhood cats litter box. Friends kid picked up a turd once and I was so embarrassed. As spring is upon us Id like to truck in some sand again after we put in rock for the erosion. I know of some cat deterrents but not sure what will work in this situation. Pic from last time we had sand.

Administrators Horton Posted March 7, 2021 Administrators Share Posted March 7, 2021 I do recommend dogs as your solution. Dogs generally love eating cat poop. Baller cougfan Posted March 7, 2021 Baller Share Posted March 7, 2021 @LoopSki maybe you could ask @Rednucleus to hang around your “beach” for the summer. Most cats hate going to the vet?? he would probably only want to ski a few sets a day for compensation

Baller skimtb Posted March 8, 2021 Baller Share Posted March 8, 2021 Guys on teamtalk were taking about a motion activated sprinkler to keep ducks and geese off the dock. That may work here too. Agree dog may be good solution too but then dog may need to be outside (and in the sand and water) a lot.
Baller_ Rednucleus Posted March 8, 2021 Baller_ Share Posted March 8, 2021 Motion activated sprinklers work well and eat less than dogs (and poop less too). Any deterrents will not last long depending on weather.
Baller DaveD Posted March 8, 2021 Baller Share Posted March 8, 2021 I got a motion activated sprinkler for my parents to see if it would keep the deer out of their garden. I think the only thing that got wet was my parents setting it up. Is it mean to laugh at your 80+ year old parents getting soaked by a sprinkler? By the way, my parents don’t use theirs because it leaks.
Baller keithh2oskier Posted March 8, 2021 Baller Share Posted March 8, 2021 @thager A .22 is much more cost effective than 5.56. Also have you seen the YouTube video of the whale getting blown up in Oregon in the 80s. That's what would happen.
Baller_ MISkier Posted March 8, 2021 Baller_ Share Posted March 8, 2021 @keithh2oskier, the whale explosion was 1970 and the video of the newscast covering the event is excellent. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller keithh2oskier Posted March 8, 2021 Baller Share Posted March 8, 2021 That's exactly what I was thinking of. Should have Googled the year. Long story short. You don't want cat guts on your dock and boat.

Baller LoopSki Posted March 8, 2021 Author Baller Share Posted March 8, 2021 don't think shooting the neighborhood cats would be appreciated! A do have a dog but the property is not fenced in so it stays in a coral.

Baller Ski2000 Posted March 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted March 9, 2021 @mike_mapple and if you have a single shot 22 or a 22 revolver, you can use ( CB rounds) that are quieter than a pellet gun? (neighbor friendly)
Baller UWSkier Posted March 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted March 9, 2021 Problem with a gun is you have to catch them in the act and they usually do their business at night. Maybe once @ErikBerghiller is done making the paintball course a success, he can get to work on an automated cat blaster version...
