Stumbled across this 1958 television ad, featuring our favorite sport and starring a famous skier from that era. Anyone guess who's doing the stunt work?

Having a smoke while you are skiing. That is pretty cool actually. Reserved for those that can't muster big spray. Cigarette between pursed lips while throwing big spray is coolest.

Barry Madden was a promo guy in Iowa, great driver in the "hand drive" days. He would pull up to the dock, take a drag, and say "Hey man...what you need?"

 

I'd be like I need a PB...he was like allright--where's does that sit. I'd tell him and he'd be like allright...I'll do my part, you do yours.

@6balls I skied with Barry when he was in Texas for several years. Always loved his socks pulled up to almost his knees with a pack of cigarettes stuffed in them. Great guy.

@ntx yeah great guy. One time he was giving some skiing advice and someone talked a little smack. Barry grabbed his ski and ran deep 38 having not skied for a very long time. My brother bought a promo MC 197 from him--beautiful boat, great price, under 100 hours--great deal. Yeah the socks!
