Baller Vernon Reeve Posted June 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 9, 2021 I'm concerned the newer models with their stabilization might have the same issue as the newer cell phones, so thought I'd check here before getting a GoPro 7 or 8 or 9. Baller bojans Posted June 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 9, 2021 The stabilization works very well on the 8. You need an inexpensive tripod mount for the Gopro to attach to the ski doc. I would also suggest an extension pole, it gives you a better line of sight to the skier.

Baller C5Quest Posted June 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2021 Which ski doc model are you guys using? Orbit or standard pole type?
Baller skibug Posted June 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2021 Orbit...pole type is sub-par
Baller bojans Posted June 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2021 Here is an example of the GoPro 8 video from an Orbit at 15' off. The skier is a bit far away for my liking, but using a narrower field of view has the skier going out of frame in the turn some times.
Baller skierjp Posted June 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2021 @bojans is there any chance you could post some 28,32,35 line length shots so we could see how close it looks. 15 is too far away
Baller bojans Posted June 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2021 @skierjp I will have to dig around. My son (who is the primary person I film) only gets in 22', maybe 28'. I will see if I have video of others
Baller Vernon Reeve Posted June 10, 2021 Author Baller Share Posted June 10, 2021 That's all really good to know, sounds like they all work really well. Thanks everyone!
Baller skibug Posted June 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2021 here is a slappy scrappy 35 and there is virtually no shake or impact of the slack hits on the skidoc or hero 9 https://gopro.com/v/pJ8DOEJmvoEdG
david_quail
My 8 is outstanding at taking video (orbit, no extension). Video of me skiing 34, 28 very poorly.
Baller skierjp Posted June 11, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2021 Sure would be nice to be able to zoom in a little closer
Baller 503Kento Posted June 11, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2021 They do have digital zoom but as mentioned it takes a little trial and error to get the closest shot and keep the skier in frame. 50 to 60% seems to be about right. Get high, Get fast, and do some good work.
Baller skibug Posted June 11, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2021 1.2x on my zoom....but if you use this player on your computer, you can go frame by frame and zoom in with Ctrl+mouse scroll. KMPLayer https://www.kmplayer.com/pc64x
