Baller OldGuysRule Posted June 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2021 Our club boat (2009 196) pylon has started "clicking." The harder the skier pulls the more it clicks. I do not see the pylon moving but am assuming the 4 nuts at the bottom of the pylon need tightening. Anyone else have this issue and/or solutions? Baller skierjp Posted June 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2021 The pylon is either loose or the rope could be ratcheting on the pylon when the skier goes from side to side. If you use a shock tube make sure the shock tube strap is not between the pylon and the rope.
Baller markn Posted June 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2021 See if you can move your pylon by hand with extreme force moving it side to side. If not, more than likely a rope issue. If the pylon moves or makes noise, open the motor box and tighten the u-bolts at the bottom of the hull. You will see where the pylon is glassed in. Good luck. Baller JayG80 Posted June 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2021 I believe if you look closely, there are 6 nuts on 3 u-bolts. 3/4 deep socket if I recall correctly.
Baller OldGuysRule Posted June 10, 2021 Author Baller Share Posted June 10, 2021 Thanks for the information from all. I first thought it was the rope or shock tube issues but my strong ski buddy grabbed ahold of the pylon yesterday and was able to produce the "clicking" although we couldn't see any movement of the pylon. Thanks again for everyone's replies ....even Thager!
