How many of your slalom falls resulted in medical care

Instead of an old fashioned OTF, I came half way out of a Goode hard shell, severely spraining my ankle.

Scorpioned footing when I was in high school. At 51 I now have a herniated disc and need to see a chiropractor regularly.

Wow! I had no idea water skiing was so dangerous, but these comments are disturbing. It’s got me thinking I need to take up a safer sport, safer than slalom skiing. I’m thinking bull riding.

Ive ignored this post. However my count went to 1 this past week.

Tibial Plateau Fracture in left knee start of last year. Second set back 10 months later severely strained all ligaments in right ankle after a tail blowout and missed whole season. Previous 35 odd years nothing much.

It can be a risky sport.

 

But so is any other activity. Let's see, a blown eardrum back in the 90's, a broken left foot, and abdominal hernia, all in the course.

 

This year, a bad OTF resulted in some torn ligaments in my right foot. All in all, not bad for skiing about five days/week for a ton of years.

 

But I'm lucky. Two deer/motorcycle collisions with only one concussion and no broken bones.

 

Our club has a saying, "It's only water, what could go wrong?"
