Baller disland Posted July 10, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 10, 2022 I am scoring our tournament and it wants me to enter all the boast we used. However if there were no promo boats why should I give manufactures any credit? What are those credits used for anyway?
Baller dave2ball Posted July 10, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 10, 2022 The boat credits are used for national and regional credits. It will apply to the 20% needed for promos to pull nationals.
Baller RAWSki Posted July 11, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2022 not really sure this is needed in the current environment - what would be more interesting is a line to designate if a promo boat is used or a personal-club boat.
Baller unksskis Posted July 11, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2022 @dave2ball so now that personal boats are exclusively used, are the companies still to get credit?
Baller dave2ball Posted July 11, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2022 @unksskis have no idea. Maybe depending on what year and hull design. I don’t know what % of personal boats are being used.

Baller skiinxs Posted July 11, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2022 Certainly not exclusively, Nautique is covering all MO tournaments. Two last weekend, this was yesterday...
Baller RAWSki Posted July 11, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2022 @skiinxs nice looking fleet and you are very fortunate!
Baller unksskis Posted July 11, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2022 @skierjp Exclusively meaning no promo boats, compared to utilizing a promo boat in conjunction with personal or club boats. There are no promo boats in this area to support local tournaments, therefore to host tournaments in this area it is relying exclusively on personal or club boats, no support from any manufacturer. @skiinxs That is great that they are supporting the Missouri tournaments with your involvement and hard work. The tournament originally referenced here exclusively utilized personal boats. In this scenario, it would not seem correct to give credits to the manufacturers for competitions they really didn't support, or go towards their national support percentage. Baller dbutcher Posted July 11, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2022 At some point, requirements to pull Nationals and Regionals are going to have to be reduced - if they haven't been already. It seems like we are lucky to have any tow boats at all, and the future doesn't look bright.
Baller aupatking Posted July 11, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2022 If I own the boat privately, I’m not allowing credit to be given to anyone but me. If they want their boats to qualify, they need to do a better job with their promo program. Nautique pulls EVERY tournament in Alabama.
Baller unksskis Posted July 11, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2022 @dbutcher yes, any support for Regionals and Nationals should be allowed and appreciated. The "credit" system should really be utilized to see where the promo programs are being utilized, and the system be updated to identify/capture tournaments that were not supported. Baller klindy Posted July 11, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 11, 2022 The whole subject of boat availability, credit and the “nationals credit” idea is something that needs serious discussion and changes.
Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted July 11, 2022 Baller_ Share Posted July 11, 2022 used this at the Georgia State championships. women /men 5 and above slalom. we also used a 2022 Mastercraft promo as well as a 2019 Ski Nautique promo. very much appreciated and manufacturer credit given. no credit to manufacturers unless they support tournaments with boats sponsored by manufacturers via official promo programs. Baller disland Posted July 11, 2022 Author Baller Share Posted July 11, 2022 The scoring software has a fit if there is no boat entered
Baller_ mike_mapple Posted July 13, 2022 Baller_ Share Posted July 13, 2022 @disland just a question, did you reach out to the companies to see if they would help? not to stir anything just wondering if that was done and they flat out said no? Edit* I have never put on a tournament, so I am not sure how that works, it is really just a question of personal interest. Baller skierjp Posted July 13, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 13, 2022 @mike_mapple @disland there is actually a Towboat Request Form that is supposed to be submitted. Nautique does all their Tournament Towboat scheduling around the first week of March.

Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted July 13, 2022 Baller_ Share Posted July 13, 2022 There is a grand total of 1 SN promo in the north Texas area. I don't know of any MC or Malibu promos in the area. For @disland tournament, the SN promo was committed to a Record tournament in Arkansas, so there were basically no promo boats available within a 5 hour drive. If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
Baller skierjp Posted July 13, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 13, 2022 Ken’s Nautique Promo was in Austin last weekend. Texas States.
Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted July 13, 2022 Baller_ Share Posted July 13, 2022 @skierjp right. There is 1 SN in Austin area and 1 north of Dallas. That's about a 4 hour drive and both were committed. Simple fact is that there are way more tournaments than promo boats. If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
Baller LeonL Posted July 14, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 14, 2022 Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here. My perception of the promo program was always what it kinda said it was, a way to promote the brand and by allowing the skiing public to see and ski behind the brand, and thus increase sales. Obviously that's not the situation today. All brands sell all that they choose to make (read bigger boats with bigger margins taking build slots) so I don't see the promo program living much longer. Witness the current number of promo boats.
