Baller skihart Posted September 19, 2022 Baller Share Posted September 19, 2022 Hi GuysLooking at a used new model Ski Nautique, but i was wondering if my current 200 trailer would work for the new hull?I am guessing no but thought i would ask. I only use the trailer twice a year to put the boat in and out. If it goes more than 5 miles a year it would be a miracle. Thanks
Baller dave2ball Posted September 19, 2022 Baller Share Posted September 19, 2022 It has been done. It really does not fit well but to go 5 miles as you say it will work. Anything else I would not.
Baller skihart Posted September 20, 2022 Author Baller Share Posted September 20, 2022 Thanks it also sits on the trailer all winter of course and may have some pressure points that could cause issues. Will probably just get a new trailer. I think it would drive me nuts anyhow.
Baller dbutcher Posted September 20, 2022 Baller Share Posted September 20, 2022 @skihart Can you hang it from its lifting rings just above the trailer so its not sitting on a wrong trailer all winter? That's a question, not a recommendation. I've heard that new trailers are expensive, in short supply, and take a long time to get.
Baller Jmoski Posted September 20, 2022 Baller Share Posted September 20, 2022 @skihart - definitely get the new trailer, you buying a $100k+ boat, a single axle trailer will be another 10%, well worth it IMHO to protect your investment. It will make selling it easier as well…
Baller skierjp Posted September 20, 2022 Baller Share Posted September 20, 2022 @skihart you need to check on the 200 trailer if the bunks are frame or bunk style mounted. If it’s frame the Nautique probably won’t fit because this puts the hull down low on the trailer between the fenders. If it’s bunk style the boat sits above the fenders which allows it to fit. As far as the bunk placement in relation to the bottom hull of the Nautique, you will be fine.
Baller dave2ball Posted September 20, 2022 Baller Share Posted September 20, 2022 @skierjp the new ski fits on my 200 trailer with out finder issues. It has been tried.
Baller BraceMaker Posted September 20, 2022 Baller Share Posted September 20, 2022 If you have access to the trailer for a good price any local trailer shop or well etrailer.com and you can make it fit fine.MC and nautique usually come with trailers but so many other boats the marina "fits" one. So shorelander ez on etc we would sling a boat over the trailer adjust the bow stop till tongue weight was in spec then shift bunks and rollers to the chines. Voile out the door. Baller skierjp Posted September 20, 2022 Baller Share Posted September 20, 2022 @dave2ball yes, because you have the bunk style trailer where the boat is above the fenders.
Baller dave2ball Posted September 20, 2022 Baller Share Posted September 20, 2022 @skierjp the bunks are on the frame. If I remember correctly the option style bunks raise the boat a bit more.
Baller ETskier Posted September 21, 2022 Baller Share Posted September 21, 2022 I was told in 2019 the the bottom wetted surfaces of the two boats was pretty much the same. That may have been misinformation. If it's true, then it would make sense the same trailer could be used. I could see maybe the bowrail bunks, tow rings, and winches could be a little different. However, I would still think a new trailer would better protect your investment and resale.
Baller skihart Posted September 22, 2022 Author Baller Share Posted September 22, 2022 @dave2ball is your trailer a boat mate?@skierjp i believe my boat mate trailer is the bunk style? I am not entirely certain it fits completely above the fenders though?
Baller dave2ball Posted September 22, 2022 Baller Share Posted September 22, 2022 @skihart I have a ram-lin single axle.
