Are hardshell trick bindings the same as slalom bindings?

Are hard shell trick boots the same as slalom boots? Would I want a trick boot to be a little stiffer front to back than a slalom boot

I use the same boot that I slalom with, exact same set up, reflex release system

I’m pretty sure they’re the same, but D3 lists a trick and slalom. Tore my hamstring doing a toe front couple weeks ago. Really glad I had the binding.

They are the same, reflex now sells the classic black shell without the strap as trick shell and with the strap as slalom. All my fellow skiers still use the classic black shell without the strap for slalom though.

So in theory if you didn't mind unscrewing/screwing the plate on each time you switched, you could use the same reflex release and boot for both slalom and tricks?

One boot, two plates is the way to go.

That's a good question. I know I'm the last person on earth doing line tricks but I have sometimes wondered if a little bit more tongue pressure would make hand-to-hand WLO easier.

I must admit that it isn't mine but a friends. The lace stops the boot releasing, and the ratchet strap on the rear is to stop the foot releasing on flips.

 

Yes it does float! It's 1/2" thick at that point.

But the boot is made, its a kitchen chopping board (used)
