  1. Goldenrods are good because they do not need to be replaced. Here is a link
  2. I waterski Carlsbad Lagoon. Free course but you have to get there damn early except in winter. I have a boat partner that owns a condo with a slip so the boat is on a lift. If you use the ramp at California Watersports it is 500 per year. Later mornings suck because of wakeboarders and wake surfers
  3. I got my boat cover from baldmikes.com on the suggestion of the Malibu crew forum. I got the Westlund cover for my 1999 Malibu Response LX. It has 2 vents behind the the windshield. Sunbrella 9 1/4 oz. Mike sent me extra material to alter the cover to fit around my wakeboard tower with Velcro tabs. There are reinforced padded areas at all wear points, windshield, ski pole etc. It covers the swim step and tightens down tight. I had a local upholsterer do the alterations for the wakeboard tower. Looks great and works great. The upholsterer said he couldn't buy the Sunbrella material for what I paid for the cover. Not sure if this is true. Goldenrod dehumidifier or Eva Dry controls mildew. http://www.amazon.com/GoldenRod-inch-Saver-Dehumidifier-GS-18/dp/B005FRGQUG#customerReviews
  4. Maybe Gordon Rathbun would have gotten his 50 ski runs at 50 lakes in a day with this.
  5. From:"Mmosley899" Date:Thu, Oct 29, 2015 at 1:06 PM Subject:OB4 Systems To All OB4 Systems customers, Update: I, am no longer acting as an agent, employee, representative or in any function or capacity of OB4 Systems, at the request of my investors. Though I do still own a portion of the company. They think they can promote and market the system I developed and the company I originated better than I can. Unfortunately they have little knowledge of the sport of competitive water skiing, nor the use of the system that I have been using for twenty-two years. While I am more than happy to answer questions about your use of the system, I can no longer represent that I am acting in any way on behalf of OB4. Nor can I provide you with any parts. You can reach me at the above email address, and not through OB4. Thank you for your support. Sincerely, Mike Mosley The Designer and Originator of the OB4 system
  6. I have used uship.com twice now. Once from St. Petersburg, FL to my home in San Diego, CA. It was a 25 ft. fishing boat on a trailer. I had the bearings re packed by the sellers mechanic. It was during the Great Recession so I got a great deal at 1,700. Most bids were 2,500. Another boat I had shipped from Galveston, TX to Tucson on a trailer for $ 1000 by uship shipper. You place your boat to be shipped and shippers bid on it. If you have it shipped on a flat bed it is going to be major money. Have the bearings replaced or re packed. Both shippers I gave 5 stars.
  7. Connelly Carbon V 69". Deeps starts easy. I am 230 and can ski it 30-34 mph.
  8. Don't fall asleep in the palapa with @Tevskis around. This could be you.
  9. I had a great time there and felt the instruction was excellent. I felt my wife would get bored there and I am glad I did not take her. Unless your wife would like hanging out at the Villa or going shopping alone in a predominately spanish speaking city then it may not be for her. If she would like sunbathing at the palapa and hanging out with you and several other guests between sets then I would say take her. I just knew my wife would not enjoy it so she went to London to see our daughter and I went skiing. Great location, great food, I went fishing and had the whole boat to myself with 5 lines in the water for $ 150. Acapulco bay is one of the most beautiful. I had one of the best jetski rides of my life, exploring the bay.
  10. If your kids are young Lego Land is in Carlsbad 1.2 hours away from Disneyland. The Lagoon is empty in November. Get up early and ski 7 am. Park opens at 9. Have breakfast go in at 10. More than 2 days at Disneyland is tough. Legoland is good for 10 and under. The beaches in Carlsbad are cool. Due to el nino, the water will still be warm, good to boogie board. You can pay to play at Calif watersports or if it is a Friday thru Monday I can drive. There is a course.
  11. @Hallpass. One way is to test skis at a ski school/or rep demo. Another, is to do a trial with one of the Internet "try before you buy programs". Ski it Again.com also has great used skis and closeouts. Once you have some bindings you like, you can trial skis or pick up "blems" on eBay. All of my skis are blems or last years model. Ski companies change skis around every 2 years or so. So I bought 1 year old blems that were the same models as "this years" ski. It took me some $ and time to find a ski that suited me. I still fall back on the "easy" ski the Freeride when my body says go easy. So the Freeride was not a waste of $.
  12. Look down this forum for "big guy looking for ski". Thread. Lack of posts bc exact question asked. I am 225 and started using a Connelly Big Daddy off the wakeboard tower 2 years ago to get up on a deep start. Once I got the technique better I transitioned to a Triumph 71 then bought a 69. Equivalent to the TX. I also bought an HO Coex SL which is like the CX super lite. It was much harder to get up on but a very fun ski. I now ski a Connelly Carbon V which is wider for us big guys but has the turning capabilities of narrower skis. The HO Freeride is a great ski also. Very easy to get up on. Still turns great. And is less demanding on the arms and back. When my back is sore or arms tired it is my go to ski. I am just beginning to try the course and suck but still having fun.
  13. @scotchipman there is a permanent course. Mornings til 10 am. @jimbrake October thru April pretty much vacant to little use. Summers weekday mornings and eves can be good. You need to get a sticker from the city and pay the ramp fees.
  14. @MarcusBrown thanks for the Freeride. I feel like I can ski on it forever at times. Easy deep starts and easy on the arms but still lays down some nice turns. Pretty cool ski. I watched your Baja video and enjoyed it. I would love to ski BOLA. I had a chance to ski Bahia Concepcion, Mulege, Baja Sur. Amazing glass, deserted private beaches. Small islands everywhere to ski around. Next Baja Vacation. I will drag the boat down.
  15. @jimbrake. Yes, Carlsbad Lagoon. No drought in the ocean. If you pick your times can be excellent. I have a boat partner who has a condo and slip in Bristol Cove so 10 minute commute. Drop the boat off the lift and go. 30 min cleanup. Mission Bay has a course and free ski area. San Diego Bay has some hidden secret spots of glassy water. Imperial Lakes would be buy a lot and build or get lessons from Chez. I am a Northern Cali born and raised, but 9 years of college in SoCal the weather grew on me. I miss NorCal beauty and mountains, but the sunlight and great days bring good cheer. Now skiing year round brings more. Always looking for early birds to drive and ski.
  16. San Diego. 2 sites with courses. Waterskiing 12 months. Fishing, spearfishing, golf etc 12 months.
  17. I have the Triumph which is an earlier version of the TX and also a HO Freeride ski. When my back hurts or I am having trouble with deep starts with my narrower skis or I just want to have fun and swerve, the HO Freeride is a great ski. Easiest ski for me to get up on other than the Connelly Big Daddy. I started 2.5 years ago with the Big Daddy ski the switched to the Triumph as I progressed. I picked up a Blem Freeride and the one thing I notice about it is it's easy deep starts, and less arm fatigue. It has the textured surface and is supposed to have 50% less drag. I weigh 225 and the narrower skis are hard on my back and for me to deep start. Take the wing off. That helps reduce drag.
  18. http://www.webberwavepools.com/video.html Maybe this wave pool will keep the wake surfers off the lakes.
  19. My friends Moomba was doing this when less than half empty. The tank was being deported on the sharp turns. The dealer put in a new tank. Does it do it when the tank is full?
  20. @skialex which inserts are those? Where can I find them? Nice work.
  21. I am just starting to ski again after 4 months off for shoulder impingement syndrome. The Freeride is amazingly easy to get up on. I am glad I have it. I notice less arm fatigue also. I am 225 lbs on a 2013 Freeride 69". Fun ski. A nice back up when you just want to ski for fun. My other ski is a Connelly Carbon V 69" which is wider than most skis. My favorite ski is the HO Coefficient SL but is hard for me to get up on. I have to work up to it and drop 15 lbs.
