  1. @Mshaw200 I don't have a dog in the fight as I still ski M2, but I see this phasing out the working family man that may only be able to attend one event (of the two total in the US) and give an advantage to the guy that has alot of money and time to travel all over the globe to qualify. What is next, they will require everyone to attend one international event to qualify?
  2. @Mshaw200 as OB pointed out the wind played a huge factor in the Broho scores so we can assume under the same conditions for round 1 the scores would have been more like a 3 @39 which would not be that sizeable
  3. @bill22 get wider on your pull out. Then when you think you are getting out wide get even wider. Having more width on your pullout for the gates will give you more time on your roll in and allow you to build angle through the gates without adding load to the rope. I imagin what your experiencing is you start the turn in for the gates and the boat has already got ahold of you and you have to fight like heck to get angle and then you end up with too much load and miss the gates by a couple feet. When you first do this it will feel weird, it will feel like you have slack line when you turn in. Don't worry it will take some time to get a feel for it. Make sure you are using your front foot to initiate the turn in. I see guys do all the work to get wide on the boat then "wiper blade" the turn in and waste all that width.
  4. @Mshaw200 The only door this opens is for skiers who can attend multiple events. How many of those sports that you mentioned let you qualify for the championship after competing in only half the events? Also, think about the events outside the US. I don't have the stats but I remember that the scores are usually lower (overall) at these events but the point system will be equal?
  5. @lpskier‌ I think @Horton was just throwing an idea out and letting people offer their opinions. Lower the qualifications for nationals and make regionals optional for qualified skiers. Even though regionals would be optional, I would still go if it was close to home as I suspect alot of other skiers would as well and I would go to Nationals every year if this were the case. Then expand on the Big Dawg to include divisions for G3-W2 and W3+ and B3-M2 where the top 8 Nationals scores would qualify you into those divisions. This may help attract more of the level 8-9 skiers in those divisions and it would not really add a whole lot of time for 3 8 skier bracket head to head final.
  6. The only parallel between golf and skiing is they are individual sports that take an extreme amount of concentration and practice
  7. @livetoski I guess we will have to agree to disagree here. Your opinion on what professional golfers are able to do at practice means nothing. Does this sound better... If you have never run 32 off out of the boat at practice you are very unlikely to run 32 off in a tournament. end of my comments on this thread
  8. @livetoski you are obviously a golf enthusiast, as far as the examples you used.... I never mentioned anything about running the pass 100% of the time out of the boat in my original post did I? Nope, just went back and re-read...dont see anything about running it 100% of the time "I guess if you run it out of the boat then you can say that you are capable of skiing that line length." If you run 32 off out of the boat once in a while then yes you are capable of running it in a tournament because you ran it just like it would be required in a tournament. Just like Adam Scott only being able to make that putt two or three times out of 10 in practice...He made the shot in practice (assuming with no muligans) which means he is capable of making the shot....See the difference? Same with the Tiger and Bubba examples, these are shots these guys make routinely in practice and in big tournaments. No they do not make the shot 100% of the time, but they are capable of making the shot because they do make the shots in practice....without a muligan.
  9. @livetoski if you're not running it out of the boat, then I would say you are not capable of running at a tournament 99% of the time. We all know there are times when the stars align and someone will go out in a tourney and run a pass they never sniffed before. In golf if I had a second shot everytime I would be a scratch golfer, but I don't go running around saying I am a scratch golfer....
  10. Any Ballers in Florida that chase turkeys? I am in need of the Osceola to complete my Grand Slam, need a place in FL. Any ballers know of some good Outfitters or even better someone with some land?
  11. I guess if you run it out of the boat then you can say that you are capable of skiing that line length. But if you are taking 3 cracks at it then finally run it when your driver gets tired of turning around to pick you up and decides to weave it up, then you are probably not capable at running that line length.....Makes me think of this guy that use to come by our lake, he would run 22 then shorten, miss 28 and still shorten, miss 32 and still shorten then fall three times at 1 ball at 35 and say at the end of his set he ran 1/2 @ 35.......And to make it worse he never brought beer
  12. If you remove the regionals requirement more people will attend nationals but at the same time you do not want to lose Regionals because if no one shows up to ski then no one will host the tournaments. So how do you get people to still attend regionals if they do not have to? Make a slight change to the regionals rule, still have the top 5 for placement but also allow the top 5 skiers who have not already qualified for nationals to be qualified. This may draw more interest from the skiers in levels 5-7.
  13. @PurdueSkier‌ save your breath (or fingers from typing) people only ski tournaments to see how high they can get their rating. That is what I leaned after posting something similar to your suggestion.
  14. @leonl I was shocked at my driving when I saw it on video, just like my skiing. I say to myself 'do I really look that bad?'' The camera don't lie
  15. @jwebski I could not disagree more. If you can't drive or are not use to driving shortline get out of the boat.
  16. We used to run a camera on boat path in practice because people thought I was too picky and they wanted to prove they were driving straight, they were driving straight, one foot right of centerline as I expected
  17. Since I do not care if people swerve means that I give people buoys while judging, swerve myself, condone stealing and would watch an armed robbery and not care. This is hilarious. Keep them coming
  18. Everyone must have missed the part in my statement where I said "I do not condone weaving" @MattP "The "IF" game should be no where near this conversation" then you say "What if you were the skier that got bumped out?". I guess only you can bring the "if" into the conversation. If I were a driver, no I would not weave, once again going back to what I said about not condoning the weave. Cheating is part of every sport, unfortunately, PED's, Steroids, movable courses, etc it is just reality. All I am saying is that why waste the time worrying about it and blasting people on the internet about it? Take that time and go ski. I am not sure how me saying that it does not bother me when people weave turned into accusations that I give people buoys while judging and weave myself. Actually, I am a very strict judge on the tower and when driving I would consider myself a "skier friendly" driver that does not weave. No I have never found myself "on the bubble" but if I did I would practice more :)
  19. I guess that I just don't worry about what is happening everywhere else, I try to only worry about myself and control what I can control. Besides, when Nationals comes around it all levels itself out @Chef23 the weave can help at all line lengths
  20. Ok, so what if the person that was getting the "weave" did not qualify for Nationals and did not displace another skier, what if the driver was just trying to help the skier get through a couple passes to keep him coming back to tournaments to help "Grow the Sport"? I am not condoning the weave, but maybe it is not as evil as everyone is making it out to be.
  21. @Horton a call is a call. Why have officials if we are going to have the skiers over ride their calls. I would have to agree with @Klindy, they may have the better angle and made the correct call. Like I said in a different post, skiers ski, judges judge. Besides, you should not be staring at the buoy. As far as weaving, does not bother me. I prefer my driving to be straight, but if someone else is getting the weave because they need a score for nationals, I have no problem with that. I know I know, someone else may get bumped from going to nationals. Just part of it
  22. @TC disagree as well. I am not suggesting more rounds to post a better score. I am suggesting more rounds to increase participation. Maybe you can add to the discussion and share some of your "other formats" to help instead of criticizing others opinions.
  23. @Ntx no I will not be making it up to the tourney. Archery season is just around the corner
