  1. @gregy the first thing I try to do is get wide on my pull out. Sometimes as a LFF I get lazy and don't pull out aggressively for gates and this will cause me to load heavy through gate and run pass narrow. I am trying to be equal to the boy speed when I begin to roll in. The wider you can get on your gate will allow more room for error in my opinion. once I roll in a state directly in middle of gates, I used to watch right hand gate buoy but found I would miss early, I switched to looking dead center of gates and I hit them every time
  2. @gregy i am LFF and on my gate I try to get my weight onto my front foot as I glide for the gates and keep my ski tip down. Having the weight forward (hips must be up) allows me to control the turn in for the gates because I am centered on ski and this will keep your ski tip down and you will generate more angle on your roll in without needing to load the line. Also I aim for the middle of the gates, this allows me to drive through both wakes with less "am I gonna hit my gate" stress.
  3. Great to hear Hmmm, stock market hitting all time highs, unemployment bottoming out, waterski nationals full.....I wonder what happened?
  4. @Gloersen M2 goes by your age as of Jan 1st, so like myself I turned 35 Jan 23rd but am still M2. @bishop8950 I think you guys dropped the ball on this one. It seems like a stretch that the committee is considering BOS cash prize event as a "Pro slalom cash prize event".
  5. Wow, talk about some serious BS. I didn't realize the BOS tournament was the new pro tour. I wonder if other skiers complained? why let him sign up and then pull the rug out?
  6. @Orlando76 I will be down in eustis often this fall and winter, primarily Friday's. It would only be a couple times a month. As long as your boat goes 36 I would be glad to come ski with you.
  7. @Horton especially when you look at how many skiers in MM/MW registered for nationals. 7 MM slalom 2 trickers and 0 jumpers MW 2 slalom 0 trick and 0 jump.....granted there is still a day to register, but can we get rid of these already?
  8. Lake 1 furthest south and lake 4 is lake furthest north
  9. I will be there thursday to Saturday. Don't remember anything particular about lake but windy is pretty standard for Texas in the summer
  10. Thanks @LLUSA it was my first trip to your place and the site was incredible. Skied the last group of the final day and things were still running efficiently. Clearly you have this regional thing figured out
  11. Another public lake skier here and spinning is a must sometimes if you have to spin to beat rollers. Sometimes I will do tourney set and finish out spinning 32 til I fall. Skiing while tired sometimes helps me focus on technique.
  12. @Wish there is no personal benefit, the benefit would be for the sport. More participation in tournaments, more tournaments, more exposure, maybe even a pro tour again someday, yada yada yada
  13. @skibug I never said you weren't pulling your weight. All I said is that if people like yourself, and the masses that you mentioned, were to ski a tournament or two a year imagine what that would do for sport.
  14. @Mark_Matis will they? Sounds like your opinion. I am pretty sure back in EP days there were WAY more than 600 skiers at nationals....
  15. @Mark_Matis if the top 20% qualify for nationals and there are 200 skiers in your division then 40 skiers qualify. If there are 300 skiers in the same division then 60 skiers qualify for nationals....please explain where my math is wrong here.
  16. @wish it benefits everyone and most importantly the sport. We all make sacrifices in order to attend tournaments, whether it be time with family, work around house or whatever. But we go because we love the sport. Take this year for example, I am packing up right now to take a 7 1/2 hour drive to Alabama to ski regionals just so I can attend nationals 15 hours away. Do I have a lot of other "better things" to do. Sure but if we all did those "better things" the sport will continue its downward trend
  17. @skibug your statement is partially true, but just think how much better the sport would be if you (and other non-tournament skiers) skied a couple tournaments a year. Increased membership #s, more sanctioned tournaments to attend (and revenue), more kids getting exposed to tournament skiing (building future), and more skiers qualified for nationals.
  18. The ranking system works good just move the cut off date a couple weeks earlier. Do we really think this is preventing people from attending nationals?? If we go back to EP will it cause hundreds of more people to attend nationals? Doubt it.
  19. @bigtex2011 I think you should start jumping with him. Your a decent slalomer but don't think you can pull off a side slide. I will be at nationals some time Thursday, you gonna be around?
  20. Ocean pond was calm this morning. Thanks to @mjump for letting me borrow his boat while mine is getting trailer repairs
  21. @Texas6 that was 845 pm last night, you should try seeing the buoys while you are skiing.
  22. Had to wait an hour for the rain to clear last night at ocean pond, but persistence pays off as I told @mjump https://goo.gl/wewKLm
  23. Give one out to each participant in your BOS tournaments...
