I would agree with @ski6jones My parents both skied LFF. So I do too bc I thought it was normal. Both of my older boys are LFF bc they copied me I suppose. I know it doesn’t matter.
Interestingly my youngest is lefty and only one in my whole family. So I’m curious what foot he will use. Gonna teach him this summer.
-
Right handed and left foot forward too.
-
i honestly thought the 2011 i skied behind had a lot of power with the 654 prop - if I had it i would probably run the 422 for a bit lower RPM.
-
What I did on an HO ski. Probably not ideal for a boot.
-
I think it's personal. I have 13" handles b/c I'm a bigger guy. Don't like curved handles.
-
Interesting thread. I would say it would be fine to ski behind - probably has more bump at 15 and 22 off vs my earlier LXI. The price does seem off and that interior looks trashed (carpet on sides, etc. Lake test and compression test for sure!
I find it odd that the ad has been up so long on TMC at that price.

The universal can go out both sides b/c it has holes on all 4 sides of the end that goes into the clamp and fits a lot of boats. I think they made the b204 later to accommodate wake boats and boats with longer windshields like your Malibu and the Mastercraft 214.
-
i think you need the b204. I have the 202 on my Sunsetter LXI but it does not fit my friend 05 Response LXI. Maybe your windshield doesn't go back as far as his. Measure from the pylon to the where the window stops if it's more than 8" you need the 204. Oh and I have 1 extension - i feel it is necessary with this hull.

Previous outboard junkie before I got my Malibu. Anyhow it should be a 50 Mph boat when not in tow. The trick is to prop it right for both footing and slalom. You want a prop that will run 5200-5500 wide open. You need to be in the sweet spot on the rpm. Something like a 19 pitch prop and that will get you around 45 mph and allow you to do both. Just my thoughts.

Well he does do a long line start and this video was probably when he was learning. I have a ton of friends who barefoot and some are older than me - just not for me

Dave's a good guy. I would love to see him ski - that would be epic
-
I'm a RTP guy. I use a Radar Boa ARTP and I don't experience this - granted mine is from 2019 and I know they change it recently to a different texture for seeing my friend new ski. Is you foot getting in far enough? Are you putting enough weight on your front foot on your offside turns?
-
I'll leave it to the experts, but I can tell you whatever ski you buy... give it several sets before you make up your mind. I hated my current ski the 1st time I tried it (felt very twitchy) but became my favorite ski.
-
Love my sunsetter lxi - zero difference to my friends response lxi for ski wake. Beats everything on your list except a Nautique 200, but the Malibu is more family friendly IMO.
-
agree with shoe goo. it works really well.
-
I'm not an expert, but my boys really like the HO CX they have. That was replaced by the Omni.
-
Take a picture of your display and module. If you have an old stargazer setup you can upgrade to zbox for around 400.00 - I have it and so does my friend with a 2005 response. Pretty close.
-
I completely agree with this - i have talked to them many times and never hesitate to help! Just recently purchased the latest version for both Malibu's I ski. I was like 'no rush' it's still snowing here ... and had the update chip the next day LOL.
-
i have Wake Edition S on my 2003 Sunsetter (upgraded last year) and it holds well and locks in in about 3-4 seconds. you can overshoot it if you throttle up to much but just pull back the throttle a bit once it beeps. Don't bury the throttle like zero off - just accelerate moderately until it beeps.
-
like Andre said what prop do you have - my malibu with 375hp was gutless with a 13x14 cast prop that was on it from previous owner - they just wanted to go fast. I switched to an Acme 13x11.5 and it was literally like twice the holeshot.
If I'm not mistaken I believe the Acme 422 is the prop for the 196. But if you already have decent prop it could be something simple like cap/rotor and plugs.
-
I got my original P6 from Performance but those are long gone. It was replaced by Butter Knife is 2016 and Session for 2021 (both are quite a bit better than the P6)
-
still looking. thank you :)
-
I'm gonna say yes it will hit 40 but you might need to change the prop. You can get an 18" extension for the Barefoot International Booms to get out of chine spray.

@slvrbulit - thank you! I feel that a 69 would be better - looking for more surface area than my Theory
No more Waterski Boats??
