  1. My ski buddy used to have one, it was good for footing, it was ok for slalom, depends if you are open water or course skiing, in a course it is a small boat and does not track that great. If it is a large lake know the boat has a very low board and will not handle rough water, also it is very cramped and more than three people is not comfortable.
  2. As some of you who live here in the great white north know, nwe have had a very up and down spring so far, mostly rain, thunder storms and wind. Therefore it was only this weekend I have been able to get out and start to get my course in. (I should also say having two small children does slow me down a little as well!) I have discovered my mainline is snapped between ball 2 and 3, now I should mention it had been in the water for the better part of 20 years. Anyway question has anyone ever successfully spliced a mainline? I did fix one of my dimond line connectors last year. Not sure if the same will work with the main line considering its under much more pressure. Thanks in advance.
  3. Mine looks the same as that, will try the hairdryer idea.
  4. I have a 97 196 and I almost prefer it to a 200 or Malibu, have not had the privilege of skiing behind a new pro star yet.
  5. TRX suspension trainer hooked up to a pull up bar, not the best pic I know sorry! It is great training, uses body weight and lots of core.
  6. Just installed this in my garage!
  7. This is just a guess but I think if they have three mounted on the back typically the one in the middle mounted lower.
  8. @SMR11 My wife is the same size and skis the same speed and she has a 65. When we got the ski she made sure the boot was comfortable and performed well I think that holds true for everyone.
  9. @fu_man those sound like some interesting lesson plans!!
  10. @NoProblem I did discuss the pull of the boat, but the students I teach are grade 2-3 so that is about all the physics I can get into. I could do a math quiz on how much rope comes off each time ie. 15-22-28 stuff like that. @Andre check out one of the Wilson Broa videos they have a whole set of old handles they use for working out!
  11. I have been meaning to post this for a long while. Here is a picture of my classroom. I am an Elementary school teacher and I have put up old handles to use as signs for the names of the groups of students in my class. They took a long time to guess what they were used for! I eventually had to show them a video clip of what skiing looked like! I just have them hanging on clips off the ceiling, high enough up so no student can swing from one!!
  12. Taylor Dorey, related to Bruce Neville. Is on the back inside page of Water Ski this month, issue just arrived today!!
  13. "It needs more colour! Let's get my crayons!!"
  14. I would go with the GPS, I installed it with no existing system in place and it was not that difficult. I understand with a system already in place it is much easier. As far as use hand down the GPS, you input speed, crew weight (this does not change often) and you go. With the older paddle wheel more work and from what I remember from other boats not quite as accurate.
  15. I have the same ski and use Radar bindings, really just depends what you are comfortable with, most bindings should fit the ski.
  16. @luckyone those Evinrudes are nice looking engines if I ever had a reason to get an outboard that would be it. Talked to a guy at the Toronto boat show for quite awhile and it is an incredible step forward in outboards.
  17. Perfect speed, although I do sometimes miss the panic and scramble that 36 brings!!
  18. I think that is a fair price I agree with @Bulldog‌ closer to 50 might be more applicable.
  19. Too bad they don't make the Moomba outback anymore. Those prices above are in canadian dollars as well
  20. Was at the Toronto boat show today. Prostar was base model $71,000 up to just over 94 fully loaded. Did not get to talk to the Nautique guy enough to get a price. Malibu seemed almost to be a decent price at 57-62 k, saw the Carbon Pro as well did not get a price. Moomba was there as well but no direct drive model there.
  21. @andjules‌ I ski in Ontario and agree about the J Craft! I skied behind one for the first time in I think 1988, thought it was the greatest boat in the world! Of course I was around 12 so anything with a big outboard was cool! After skiing behind a real tournament boat a few years after that my opinion on the J Craft changed drastically!!
  22. I skied behind a Barefoot 200 for a number of years, the last three years we had a course. It's not bad for open water, in the course after 22 off you really start to notice the speed and tracking, both driving and skiing!
  23. I had a friend who used to use old running shoes. He was behind an old I/O that would top out at about 35 mph but when you planted it would almost stop. The shoes did help him. He was about 170-175 lbs.
