  1. Besides skiing more, I would like to know what you are doing to maintain or gain strength for the course. What workouts are you doing? If you could be detailed in the workout that would be great.
  2. I want to get back conditioning, ideally I would be back into the course by end of Aug. However depending on how much ski time I can actually get and how my old out of shape body reacts will determine a lot.
  3. After half of the summer past and on a new (larger) ski I finally got up last night!!!!! almost 8 yrs since I skied last and it felt GREAT!!!!! Now to work on my next goal of hitting the course again..........(probably next year before that happens)
  4. DO NOT EVER USE A SMITH MACHINE!!! those force improper form and movement and will cause injury. Squats and deadlift are great exercises!! the key to soreness is stretching, stretching and more stretching. Once your hams and hip flexers are stretched properly your back problems will go away. It has done wonders for me.
  5. about 45 min NW of Chicago an 30 min south of WI border on Fox River. Looking for a course, or ski club.
  6. Ok, just received my new 69" Theory and double Vector Bindings yesterday!!! Of course the wife wasn't going out on the boat when it was 67 degrees so I will have to wait until tonight to try everything out. I can't wait to get out on the water and then of course sub-come to all the critique I am sure I need. lol
  7. The issue I see is from what I have read, the flag has to be up all the time. Not just when the skier falls. Also these big ass cabin cruisers on inland lakes and rivers usually don't see my boat let alone a skier in the water.
  8. Yeah I am sure that's gonna make the 30-40ft boats on the chain and fox river pay attention!!!
  9. @"Steven Haines"‌ I don't know anything about D3... Some insight??????
  10. Great answer @Brady that was just detailed enough but simple enough for everyone to understand.
  11. Also if anybody has expertise or experience what is the deference between a Radar Senate, Theory and P6?
  12. I was also looking at a 68" oBRIEN Maple, I know its dated but I loved my 66"
  13. Yes I plan on course skiing, free skiing occasionally. Before I stopped skiing my PB was 3@-28, 32MPH
  14. I would like some suggestions on a new ski size and brand/model, I am 6' 250lbs. Last time I skied I was on a 66" Obrien and 225lbs. I know I need a bigger ski however I don't want to buy a ski to use just for this summer and after that be able to ski out of its capability. I have had a few people suggest a Radar Senate, or a P6.
  15. @Brady, Thanks! Yeah I have plenty of motivation as I am getting back into the sport the fact that I can't do what I used to do is driving me nuts!!! I have been working on slimming down this spring ironically after I spent all last year bulking up for Strongman events. I love water skiing, barefooting, wakeboarding though and I know I will get there.
  16. I just picked up a 92 Supra Comp Ts6m this spring. Amazing ski boat all composite 92 and after. Its carb but I turn key and it starts right up. I picked it up for $5600.
  17. Ok, tried a friends 71" yesterday. BIG difference!, However I was making improvement still unable to get up. At first I was getting pulled up over the front of the ski, then I think I was just trying to stand up to soon. Its like I am learning to slalom all over again. lol Also his ski had a rear toe plate, not sure if going from double boots would make much difference?
  18. ok, so a new ski is definetly required I guess. However will I be able to use my bindings on these new skis? Or has so much changed that I am going to be buying everything again? Just trying to keep costs down at this point.
  19. Thanks for all the feedback, guess it has been awhile since I have been around this sport. I didn't realize the length had soo much effect.
  20. oh, boat driver may be a little of it. I am teaching my son how to drive.
  21. I am about 250lbs now, I was between 200 -215 last time I skied, boat speed 32mph, 6', at this point just free skiing although I would love to get back into the course again.
  22. Ok, its been about 7 yrs or so since I have been on my slalom. We bought a boat this spring and I have been dieing to get back up on my ski. However this is the EXTREMELY frustrating part.......... I cannot get up!!! Ok so I may have put on about 30-40lbs since then. lol I have a O'brien Mapple 65" ski double boot, ski or attempting to ski behind 92 Supra Comp. Any and all suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
