  1. I think the teak platforms look way better than the fiberglass ones. Maybe I’m bias because I’ve had to repair and paint too many fiberglass ones. Even still the teak platform makes the boat stand out more, IMO. @oldjeep would you post some pics when you get done with the wine rack/bar project. That’s an awesome idea and I’d like to see it.
  2. Probably around 50 passes through a course but a lot of open water skiing. Sadly haven’t been through a course since the last week of July. Got busy and didn’t have too many opportunities to set up our course. Wish I had a permanent on the lake!
  3. I’d like to see Hamilton OTF slalom crash
  4. I remember reading an old thread where someone put their ski into a pvc construction pipe and then into a Dakine roll bag. Stuffed the ends with towels. That seems like it would work pretty good. I’m going to be flying with my ski next June for the first time. Guess I’ll have a while to decide what to do.
  5. @Deep11 do we get an extra point for grabbing 6 ball?? Haha, weird crash.
  6. I've been trying this also and I've had improvements in my skiing. I started free skiing at -28 and really noticed how different certain things felt and I think it translated into my course skiing. I actually ran -28 in the course a handful of times this summer. I haven't tried any shorter free skiing yet. I haven't had much of a chance to ski recently. I do like the idea of running the course and turning before the buoys like @Rich talked about. I've never thought about it but it sounds like a good drill. Thanks!
  7. Thanks for the info @skierjp I never heard of any issues until I read a few earlier posts and was curious. I was also curious about how long the bindings would last, If the backing was the area that starts degrading and that being the need for new bindings. I've never seen these boots in person.
  8. @thager Are there directions that say to remove the liners to dry? Is that what might cause undo stress on the rubber backing? Just curious because I was thinking of trying the carbitex 18's and this thread is making me think twice if people are having durability problems with the rubber backing.
  9. I like the written reviews more because as others have stated, they are a nice reference to go back to. Also they are more structured and give a more comprehensive analysis of how the ski performs. I think the written reviews help draw people to this site as well because there have been numerous times I have used a search engine to find something about a specific ski and been directed to BoS. I did like a few of the random thoughts that seemed to pop into your head throughout the video review though. If you were going to consider doing both, maybe after you complete your ski tests do a short video review about a few key points that stand out. Kind of like a prelude to the written review. Also definitely pin the reviews, I have missed a few and forgot about them. It would be nice if they stayed at the top of the page for a while. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for doing the reviews @Horton!
  10. These two always make me smile. First is @PacMan having to be stubborn and using his dual booted slalom ski to get up in and my dad and I wondering if he's going to make it. Second is a Christmas card my mom sent out about 5 years ago.
  11. Love this thread! It reminds me no matter how hard I crash, I will still be chasing that next buoy.
  12. When you start calling yourself a baller
  13. I'm with you on this. I usually video myself and/or have @PacMan spotting to give feedback. But when that's not the case, If someone sees something, I'd prefer to know right off the bat before I keep doing something that can lead to a bad habit. That being said, I have hesitated to comment on better skiers than me when they post videos on BoS.
  14. @ALPJr I'm still on the factory settings but have been thinking of decreasing depth and increasing length. What settings are you on?
  15. Thanks guys! @RazorRoss3 I'll have to watch again to check the boat path, conditions were less than ideal that morning! @Chef23 I think my handle control is probably the most inconsistent part of my skiing and I'm trying to get that down but I'll keep what you said about the transition in mind Been waiting for a morning like this:
  16. Thanks for the compliment and the feedback @OB1 I just went for a open water run and worked on turning in earlier and I see what you me about the boat hooking up at the spray. Will be on the course the next two mornings and will work on that. I have been having a little trouble with my pullout since I slowed to 32mph. Not really sure why. When I hold my lean through the second wake I feel like I carry too much speed and end up with slack at the ball. I guess I would have to post video when that happens to have any feedback on that. Unless you have a thought? @Cent is correct on the guess about the 86 MasterCraft.
  17. Just looking for any feedback or tips on my form for theses passes. This is my 4th summer course skiing but have been slaloming since I was 9, now 30. This summer I decided to slow from 34mph to 32mph and train on running the course. I slowed down because my -15 was around 50% and wanted to work on getting that higher and getting into shorter lengths. I have run less than 100 passes a year for the last two years and even less before that. I free ski a lot to work on form. This is all in a row except for missing 1 ball my first -28 attempt (bad pullout) and then turning around and running -28 again. First is -15@32. this is the length I have spent the majority of my time working on until I slowed down to 32mph. Second is -22@32. This is my 3rd all time -22@32, probably 10 or so runs at 34mph but could never get more than 4. Third is my 2nd -28 run ever, I never made it into -28 when I was still running 34mph. This was all recorded on GoPro with Wakeye Shock Tube version for those interested. And all on the morning of 7/23/17. Thanks for any insight or critiques to my form!
  18. @UWSkier Nice. Just wondering, we are always looking for people to ski with, but lately it's hard to find anyone that wants to get up early and drop the course in. Let me know if your ever in the area and looking for someone to ski with.
  19. @epnault how do you slide yourself out of the wake? I've tried and never been able to but the driver was getting up to full speed right away. I have never made a deep water, I always drop a ski. @MNshortliner I always use a 100' rope for barefooting. I like how it feels more than being closer to the boat. If your going to get one, get a good spectra line, don't cheap out like I did and end up with a rope that has a lot of stretch. Masterline makes good ones! As for speed, I do 39mph and weight 183. But I know people that like to do 44mph and weight about the same. Personally my feet get burned out quicker when I'm at faster speeds.
  20. This is my favorite site! I started course running a few years ago and could barely run it -15. Just Hit full 6 -28@32 Last Sunday because of this site. @Horton's hard work with making sure there is no trolling/spamming and always being up to date on the latest gear and tourneys is invaluable! Plus having support from a helpful, friendly, and fun community is Awesome!
  21. @A_B yeah my bro and I each have one. Did Masterline say where they were breaking? He broke one of the plastic inserts that guide the spectra line into the handle. Masterline replaced it ASAP though. I haven't had any issues with mine, other than it leaving a black mark on top of my new shiny white Syndicate VTR.
  22. @jhughes Yes, but the last time I used it one of the buoys were gone and the time before that one of the gates was missing. :( My bro @Pacman and I usually set up our EZ Slalom course on our parents lake and run that now. @UWSkier do you live in Minocqua?
  23. I have so many I like to watch. Probably my favorite was my dad, he got me into slaloming and I can remember watching him on his MasterCraft Pulse throw up a massive wall of water. He has always been an open water skier, but listening to his stories about getting pointers from Bob LaPoint and pulled through his first course with him watching are always fun to listen to. I also like watching anyone on the lake ski. It seems like far less people ski these days and I love it when I see someone come flying out of their bay skiing! Or watching anyone My family teaches to ski, we are always trying to get more people to try. Its fun to watch someone get up for the first time and go around the lake, especially if they have a huge smile on their face when they're done! Of course watching Asher and Parrish is always a blast. I can't believe my eyes sometimes. Nate is probably the best skier from his planet too, so he is amazing to watch. Regina Is my favorite skier though, I watch her 1/4 speed video weekly and am going to the Malibu open for the first time next month. I cant wait to see them ski in person!
  24. Are the EZ fin tools still for sale? I thought they weren't being made anymore.
  25. @AdamCord just had this happen to me 20 min ago and remembered seeing this thread. Any specific kind of epoxy you prefer? Also I was wondering if a squeeze clamp would work to hold the wood against the ski? The edge pulled away and the crack is slightly overlapped. I wasn't sure if tape would suck it back in place good enough. I would put a piece of wood on the other side to even out the pressure. Thanks.
