  1. @scotchipman - I'll probably hit you up late spring/early summer. I know my technique is horrible, but want to get to running the course. recreational skiing up to this point.
  2. @bigskieridaho - I'm not sure on the dynamic of boat shows, but I'm thinking that's up to the individual dealers. But I have to believe it's reflecting the dynamic of the boat purchasing public. Last weekend here in Salt Lake I only saw the new Response TXI - quite often I've seen the Nautique 200 and ProStar there. Hard to generate interest in a boat if people can't "kick the tires" so to speak.

  4. Vector is an awesome binding - you won't be sorry
  5. Thanks to @Chris Rossi at the Utah Boat Show last night - new Graphite Senate - now the wait until the ice is off the lakes. Gotta love it when they can help sell the idea to the wife.
  6. Sorry gang - should have done a search first - think I found my answers.
  7. So I understand a difference between Radar Profile and Vapor is the Vapor's ability to mold the liner to your foot. What are the other significant differences and should I be concerned given that my ability is still relatively low (but I do want to progress). I'm currently on a Vector and need to replace/upgrade. I'm not skiing the bouys yet, but want to get there.

    Show us your tug

We're doing many versions of water sports - that way we're covered when the wind blows. But Slalom is our first love.
  9. so as I read this thread @escmanaze touches on things that I'm also pretty close to. I used to race road bikes - only to find that as I age, and my time for training decreases, I become less competitive. Do I want to pay $$ to get dropped off the back. So I ride both mountain and road to get my biking fix, and stay involved in the biking community by being a race official. That being said, I'm now interested in raising my level of water skiing - but not sure how in Utah to get to the "right" people that can help me. Sure I'm on the wait list for UWSC, but (and it's to a degree my own fault), I haven't been able to link up with the right people to help me progress - I know technically my skiing is a mess...but I'm willing to learn. Then perhaps I'll try a tournament or 2 - but I do love to ski, and like getting up early on Saturday to go out for a full pulls at Utah lake, and judging from this last saturday - there are others like me. At one time we have 4 boats or so pulling a skier in roughly the same area. So my rather long winded take - at least here there are a few people that enjoy skiing, competitively or not.
  10. Only been on the site a few months - but that's a drag - heal and recovery quickly, by that time I'll be looking for a different ski and look forward to your reviews.
  11. I had the exact same thing happen on my 1995 Tige w/ a Morse Commander 290 helm a couple weeks ago at Lake Powell- not an allen head bolt, but a bolt still the same. Turned out the lock nut on the other side was just plain worn out, so the nylon wasn't holding it tight and it would keep loosening up. Had another issue w/ it as there was still some "slop" in the steering due to the way Morse engineered the tilt mechanism. A plastic part that just wears over time. Replaced w/ a UFlex helm and things are golden now.
  12. +1 for what @scotchipman says - note that out of Bullfrog, camping/mooring of the houseboat slots are limited until you get closer to the escalante arm. We will often go to the Rincon and have great water in the AM and then closer to dark. Otherwise a significant amount of boat traffic going down to Rainbow Bridge. On our bucket list is to deal with the longish motor out of Bullfrog to the San Juan arm.
  13. I've been following the ongoing saga of Chee on the malibu forum and it appears that he is missing in action. I do not know the details, but several have paid for skins with no delivery of product. I cannot comment on the reasons, only the net effect.
  14. We always do a form of winterization on ours at Bullfrog - but since it has outboards, not a lot is required of the engines. We do drain all the waterlines - as they will freeze, top off all house batteries with distilled water, set our chargers to a low setting to maintain the charge, but not put too many amps in, etc.
  15. just rec'd notice that my order shipped - woohoo!
  16. Not sure - we decided on a last min trip to visit my son and his wife in the Army currently stationed in Hawaii - might wait for a touch - of course, it's ski season here in Utah. Today was awesome up there.
  17. 1995 Tige 2002 fslm - 305 hours - bought it last January with 250.
  18. The Theory is a great ski - wide enough for most people to get up on - yet still has a decent performance level. Either that or look for a Radar P-6.
  19. Name is Don - 54, Married - pretty much an empty nest now and within the last 5 years gotten hooked on water skiing - to the point of picking up a '95 DD Tige. We spend multiple weeks down at Lake Powell and head out evenings to enjoy the water. Goal for the coming year is to introduce myself to the course and see what happens. I love the info available here on Ball of Spray. It's now snow season, so I spend my time in the backcountry of the Wasatch - but come March the excursions south for warmer water will start.
  20. Thanks for all the info - went to the local roller blade shop today to determine the best boot size. Now to get the finance manager to get the order in for Christmas - and then stand the wait until the water is a reasonable temp.
  21. This system actually reminds me of the old (think late '70s) Besser ski binding
  22. @Than_Bogan - I guess the concern is more about "Is the force necessary to release too high?" or perhaps stated another way "Is the binding release tension low enough to release before injury yet avoid the premature ejection scenario if there is too low a tension.
  23. @MattP - I fully understand that with a dual boot system the "leverage" that will be available to force the release - have you had any issues with a single boot system having the leverage to release - and still protect from injuries? Sort of comes back to the age old discussion of a dual boot system being safer. -
