  1. So, after seeing the Stokes vest in Horton's review I decided I could not live without one! The only supplier I could find that had my size was Performance. So, I spoke with I think Catherine and she was very helpful and knowledgeable. As I was completing the order I mentioned that I heard about them on BOS (which I did) and asked if they had a discount for that in a kidding manner. Turns out that gave a 10% discount! So, thanks Horton/BOS!
  2. Hello Don! Glad you told me that fact. Now I can blame my 85 miserable performance on the water temp! (Fell on my opener quite embarrassing)
  3. Must have been a good mechanic to get that started off in 2 hours.
  4. Well I've been at it since 8 but did not get to tournament seen until 18. I'm 54 now. My two memorable Nationals are my first in 1983 Duqoin and in Destin in 1996. I tied for 11th in my first one in Duquoin in 83 and had a chance at winning it missed first by 4.45 buoys. In Destin i tied for I think 26th out of about 125 or so skiers in Men 2 but I EP'ed 2@35 off and automatically qualified for West Palm in 1997. I was on a Goode 9100! (I was an early carbon adopter!). I was pumped! Right after I skied and still wet I met Dave Goode in the Goode tent and he gave me Goode bag and hat. I still have and use that bag! I remind Dave of that occasionally!
  5. @Horton I would have thought your National total would be a lot more than 13. How many did you qualify for and not ski due to anything. If my memory is correct I have skied in six and qualified for seven (I got sick and missed one).
  6. I have always been proud to just make it! I qualified with Regional placement and a Masters and EP'ed as well it's always been tough for me!
  7. Yes I did not want to mention Grainger can get them for about $3.
  8. I used them for years in the 1980's. I too made them custom (my sister sewed them). I ordered from Skiwarm material in 1,2, and 3mm. These covered my entire palm and were easy to make. Measure you hand width cut out the thumb and sew them with nylon string down one side. I used the 3mm ones underneath padded gloves for handball and the one and two mm for skiing. Two mm to start the season and one mm once my hands got conditioned. Worked great but use Kevlar liners now.
  9. Looks good I'll call Miami Nautiques and get one! I crash a lot!
  10. Thinking about getting Stokes vest they look good.
  11. Me either had one break on me.
  12. HP was before that Shadow wonder if Mike skied on a Hook or Shortline?
  13. Forgot to mention also bought the 1982 Ski Nautique 2001 that was on display at that Masters! Yes it was a turning point in my skiing career. Cost of that boat $13,500.00!
