  1. I took my sons truck to the boat storage last night. I thought, hmm, why not see if the trailer lights work with his vehicle. SURE ENOUGH! All lights, turn signals, brake signals etc. Everything working. My truck is a 2011 F-150. Do I likely just need a new "cord that runs from the connection underneath the bed down to the 7 pin trailer plug in?
  2. Agree with all. Your body just isn't used to it yet. It's easy to say I'm going to take it easy this year. But, after waiting all winter, probably ain't gonna happen. So, take it easy if you can control yourself. Otherwise, stretch, aspirin, rest etc. It will wear off soon. Glad you are back on the water.
  3. Light weights/higher reps for strength training. 20 minutes of cardio, whatever type, 3-4 days/week. I'll take a rest day prior to a weekend of skiing.
  4. Let's take @Tyler_R 's idea to another level. (Not sure how many sites would have the facilities to host though). Wake/Trick on one lake, Slalom on an adjacent lake. Stagger times for participants to ski as well as allow spectators to see the best of all the action. That might even allow more sets to be ski'd by each slalom skier. I'd go to something like that for sure. Even if I don't trick of wakeboard, I'd like to watch the finals of each event to see how the top competitors perform.
  5. Let's take @Tyler_R 's idea to another level... I'm not sure how many sites could handle the set up but what about slalom on one lake then have jump/wakeboard held on a seperate lake at the same location. Events could be staggered so all finals could be held at seperate times so spectators could rotate from lake to lake as needed to watch. This would let folks see all the good stuff in a shorter time period all in one location. That might even allow restructuring of slalom to allow more slalom runs per competitor? The difficulty would be with the multi-event skiers. But, someone smarter than I could likely figure that out.
  6. Including slalom exhibitions at wakeboarding/x-game events? Let some upper level slalom skiers/wakeboarders show everyone how its done, make it look easy then do some type of drawing to give a few from each sport a shot at the other sport? It would be fun, funny and earn both sides respect for the others sport. This helps nothing with the nationals but it would raise awareness of slalom and maybe draw a few of the younger crowd to "our side"?
  7. Thanks @klindy . Yes, some advertisement for skiing, maybe slalom/trick (not sure about the ability to do jumping) exhibitions where local ski lakes could possibly advertise their services at Marinas, restaurants on the water etc to draw those in who simply might not know these things exist. If it looks fun, more would be drawn to it. I think a decent amount of recreational skiers could be drawn in IF they knew what was availabe. There are actually a decent number of slalom lakes around my area that I had no idea about until I did an in-depth search. But, I could have found out a lot sooner if those lakes had a way to advertise their services to the general lake crowd. Maybe advertising at local boat shows???? Lots of options.
  8. "For example someone freeskiing up and down a public lake could probably care less about a ranking list or what it takes to aspire to ski at the nationals until a competitive bug bites them. That's ok but those skiers are not AWSAs target until they want to go to tournaments." As a super brand new, haven't even ski'd the course yet but am going to soon skier, this concerns me. I am not young but I do like to stay athletic. I chose slalom because it's something I did 25-30 years ago and enjoyed back then, NOT because I've seen any type of outreach, advertising or any other type of "draw" to the sport put out there by the AWSA or any other organization. Wakeboarding/surfing stuff is more abundant pretty much everywhere. They capitalize on it. It's the new "slalom/trick/jump" so to speak. The question is, will the AWSA begin some kind of "renaissance" of the 3-even sports or will they let them die a slow, painful death? Just my 2 cents from a new guy. I am one who has a little disposable income, not tons but would like to get others into at least slaloming, maybe even attend a few tournaments as a guest but maybe very minor tournaments as a competitor as I improve. AWSA, get your advertising/marketing folks to "draw me in". I just don't see any of that out there now. The sport will likely continue to decline unless it is given more attention from the top down. If there isn't advertising by the organization, interest in growth by those currently involved and a nurturing of newcomers by the old timers, I don't see much hope.
  9. THANKS! I've got a paired that I'm looking at for CHEAP. Just confirming sizes. Otherwise I'll go with the package deals. Those are some really good prices especially with the limited use it will get!
  10. Ok, no fin. @eleeski and @E_T , it's an old board and it's drilled for 8 inch insert spread instead of the new 6 inch. My understanding is I can buy a newer set of bindings but will give up a couple of "settings" due to that. Is that correct? Seriously, I'm completely new to this so that shouldn't be a big deal I just want to make sure they'll fit on the board.
  11. Thank you. I believe I'm ready for the job now. I appreciate your patience and assistance. I'll report back once the job is complete. I appreciate it.
  12. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is how would I do that? Would I just splice in 2 more ground wires to the one on the harness and run them to each side? I can't find a harness with the ground wire bonded to each side like in the picutre above. That's what is throwing me off.
  13. Excellent. A lot of good ideas thrown out there. The most important is that you developed a program that works for you. Keep it up!
  14. Question also posted on iBoats. I don't get why the pigtail coming from the LED rear lights has a ground wire on it. But, could I get a wiring harness with the green/brown and yellow/brown wires, run them to each side then ground the white wire from the LED light itself to the trailer frame and be ok? The harness will also have the ground wire that will be grounded to the trailer tongue. Thanks
  15. @ozski , what's the cost of a typical repower?
  16. Excellent job @Stevie Boy . 6 lbs is 6 lbs. Keep up the good work. What has been the key to your recent loss?
  17. Most likely will sell the Tahoe once I start course skiing. Then will keep an eye out for a 5 year'ish old inboard. Provided the hours are low enough, could be persuaded to go for something a little older though.
  18. I would document the progress of a 100% course newbie from April 2015 through the rest of the summer to show what commitment, coaching and persistence are worth in this sport! Hoping that my progress will give more 40 somethings goals to reach for each year. AGE IS ONLY A #!
  19. I can't tell. I'm going to have to call etrailer in the morning and email them a pic if needed. The rear lights on the trailer use all 3 wires so I feel like I pretty much have to have them.
  20. Yes! Not a day below freezing in the 10 day forecast! It will be no time at all before the boat is out of the storage unit and being prepped for the water!
  21. @oldjeep @MISkier , here is a picture of the current wiring. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b256/gt2003/wiring_zps22abjx4h.png I crawled under the boat today and checked out how the wiring goes. It's pretty straight forward now that I've actually seen it. The lights are optronics LED's. I'm wondering where I can find a harness that has the ground wire incorporated in like what is on it right now. Any ideas? Thanks for bearing with me on this one. It's a project that was questionable for me at first but with your guidance (bearing with my ignorance of the whole subject) I'm quite confident I can get it done. Thanks again
  22. And, how do I know when the live stream is going on? Where can I find a schedule?
  23. Not sure if anyone is interested but here is a boat at my credit union that i'm sure is a repo. My co-workers husband went and looked at it and it needs work. He said there is a hole in the oil pan, the upholstery is mildewed and the drivers seat is missing. We also are not even sure if it's been winterized. The saving grace to the deal might be that you bid what you want to bid and might get a repairable boat at a good value if you want to do the work. I booked it out in OK condition on NADA and it booked over 30K. Just wanted to pass it on in case someone is looking. http://mfcuonline.org/ Go to the "for sale" tab.
  24. The guy I bought my boat from included a used 143 cm wakeboard. The boots are just about shot so they'll have to be replaced soon. Also, I've seen some wakeboards with semi-large fins, similar to that on a ski. Should it have one? It has the small fins that are molded into the board but nothing else. It rarely gets used but is fun to play around on a few times each year and to have available if there is a guest wakeboarder in the boat. Just not sure if beginner boards should have fins. If It needs a fin and boots I can probably buy a new set up for the cost of replacement. Thanks
