  1. I ski a 69 inch HO CX superlite. When I first got it two years ago I took one set with the wing on. Ski felt strange... but... it was also a new ski to me. I took the wing off... it felt like it ran faster. I was skiing 28-30 at the time. Last night I decided to put the wing back on ... I am now skiing 32-34. The ski felt more stable into the turns with the wing on. I only put it at 2 or 3 degrees (didn't have a measure... so just eyeballed it). I had also read a few places that the wing wasn't needed until 28 off or so. For what it's worth last night I thought the wing made the ski feel more stable... and I skied well. I think I'll leave it on.
  2. Has anyone in the 190 lb range tried a 67" Omni on here? I am always in between on the weight range on these skis. The Omni table lists the 67" up to 200 lbs now (CX used to be up to 190 lbs on a 67"). I want to get an Omni... but need some guidance as to what people prefer if they're in between on weight. I ski 32 mph @15 off course only. I'm currently on a 69" CX superlite and feel like I may be able to turn a 67" a little better. I used to ski a 67 senate and thought that was a little sluggish.... but that was at 28 mph. I wish they made a 68 in this ski (or any of the intermediate skis). Thanks in advance for any advice.
  3. Finally took delivery of my new Prostar!
  4. Thanks for your advice everyone. I think I'll go with the 12 inch floats. They will be about 25% loaded with just the dock. I'm going to spread them under most of the dock to keep it stable. I am going to put the vertical bumpers in as you suggest @Jordan . @AkBob what makes you think your neighbor's dock is nervous? Did you mean something like unstable compared to yours? Thanks for your advice.
  5. I'm looking for some advice on a floating dock. I need to select some floats and am debating between 12 inch and 16 inch floats. Per my calculations (with weight of dock and height of lumber) the 12 inch floats will put the surface of the dock about 14" to 17" above the waterline with no one on the dock. The 16 inch floats will make it about 18" to 21". The flotation of the dock will be sufficient with either float (and will occupy most of the sq ft of the dock). I have read that the less height.. equals more stability.. and perhaps easier access to a ski boat. The dock won't really be used for hanging out on... so I wouldn't expect it to ever have more that 3-4 people's weight. I have a 2018 Prostar that will be sitting next to the dock (but not living there). The dock is on a small semiprivate lake with minimal wave action. My thought is to go with the 12 inch floats. Any thoughts?... or am I overthinking this? Thanks
  6. If that's navy that's almost the same thing I ordered.... except make that white on the side blue...and the front blue zone silver flake. Yours is the first I've seen put navy/silver together. Mine is wrapped up at the dealer... haven't seen it yet.
  7. Has anyone else had a problem with them releasing appropriately? I would run the laces pretty loose but had a couple times where my foot only came halfway out of the boot.
  8. I put the tie down straps on the platform brackets. I've always thought it dumb though that nautique doesn't have the standard transom rings to put straps on.
  9. I have a Zero off system on a 2011 Nautique 200 (before it was integrated into the nautique display). I was wondering if there is a significant difference in the "pull"... ie responsiveness between recreational and tournament mode? I don't see a spot on the recreational mode screen that indicates an A1 - C3. I have been using recreational mode to increment up to the next speed (such as 31.4 instead of jumping from 30.4 to 32.3). Is the "pull" at 30.4 the same on both recreational mode and tournament mode? Is recreational mode easier? Thanks.
  10. @Klinger The vest to get for an infant is the Salus Bijoux Baby Vest. salusmarine.com/?products=bijoux-baby-vest. This has to be the most comfortable out there for an infant. We used it for both of our infants. The only caveat is that it is not USCG approved... but that's only because it's made in Canada... and the coast guard can't approve something that's rated for something less than 30 lbs.. or something like that. It received awards in Canada. It is perfectly safe and designed for an infant.... no useless padding in the back.
  11. @wettek69 I guess it felt like it had a little less "drag"... however it could have also been improving technique (hopefully the latter). The profiles were comfy... particularly in colder water since they are closed toe. The xmax were just as comfy though. Both were equally responsive at my skill level. A friend of mine just bought a pair of vmax (step up from xmax) and said they're pretty comfy too. Everyone on here of course says demo stuff all the time. Unfortunately not an option where i live.... so I just bought two and tried them both.
  12. @wettek69 I can offer some experience here. Last year I was on a 67 inch Senate Graphite with Profile Bindings. Had some reasonable success. I weigh around 190 to 195. I decided to try a little bigger ski since I was in between the weight ranges. I upsized to a 69 inch Graphite Senate... same bindings. I felt like the 69 ran a little smoother for my weight than the 67 and was a little easier to get up on. Had more success this year... but a lot more reps too. I progressed from 28 mph to 32 mph. I had also bought a 69 inch CX superlite with xmax bindings at the beginning of the season also. I didn't try it until August. After only a few sets I started liking the CX better. I think it's a little narrower than the Senate. I felt that the 69 Senate was probably a little too much surface area when I progressed to 30 and 32 mph. On the CX I felt like the ski was a little smoother across the wakes and more responsive on the turns. So for me I felt like the CX superlite was a better ski. I did really like the xmax bindings too. I had had a couple times on the profiles where i didn't come out of the boot and it tweaked my ankle The xmax were comfy, very responsive and I ejected out of them with no issue. I will also say that I never went back and tried the Senate later in the season.... nor did I ever mix up the bindings. Good luck with your choice. Both are great skis... as many on here will support!
  13. I have two different brands of contacts.... one specifically for skiing and one for everyday wear. Vertex Toric by Coopervision (if you need Toric lenses) seem to be much more resistant to absorbing water. I have have tried other brands and have had no luck. There is definitely a difference in how different brands pick up water.
  14. @Mitzysman There is also a ski course on Chippewa Lake. Nice course... just not very usable any time other than early morning on weekends or mornings during the week. There is a "club" of people that supports it... but it's very cheap because they basically just have to buy turn balls and stuff. My understanding of Bootsarosa is that it's not a club... just a private site (which is unfortunate because it's only 8 minutes from my house and looks like an incredible lake by the google photos).
  15. @DCSkier4 . I skied on a 67 Senate last year. Got a 69 Senate this year. I'm 190-195 lbs and ski 28-32 mph. I like the 69 better. In my opinion at 205 lbs the 69 would be right for you. A 69 cx would probably be right too.
  16. Stohlquist is what we have for our 2 year old. Great vest...very comfy. When he was and infant we had him in a salus baby bijoux. That one is made in Canada ...it's transport Canada approved... But not USCG approved. Only vest I could find that is truly designed for the kids comfort.
  17. Just picked up a Ski Nautique 200. I'm looking to get a boom (preferably drivers side) and a fly high pole for it (wife wants to wakeboard). Does anyone have this setup on their ski nautique? I was looking at the barefoot international contour boom and their fly high pole. Can these two devices both be mounted to the pylon at the same time? Thanks in advance.
  18. A friend and I were looking for a slalom boat for lower speeds (28-30 mph). We skied the 200, txi and 2004 lxi. To both of us 200 was the hands down winner at 28 mph 15 off. I had read a lot of people's opinions on here that txi and 200 were very comparable at longer line lengths....we found a big difference. Didn't compare them at a faster speed. Bought a nice 2011 SN 200.

  20. Insanity, insanity max, p90x.....and a lot of other Beachbody brand workouts. Something for everyone!
  21. @Iff That is a hotly debated topic (antifreeze or no) that I have read many threads on. 1) The anti-antifreeze crowd says... air freezes at -360 degrees. If there's only air in the engine.. why do you need antifreeze. That does presume that you get all of the water out and there is none pooling anywhere... which I guess in theory if it doesn't create pressure when it freezes... who cares. 2) The pro-antifreeze crowd (even with draining) says.... what if i didn't get all the water out? It helps inhibit rust. It just makes me feel better. What harm does it do? Probably no harm if you use the pink stuff... and personally I try to drain as much out of the system and throw it away in the spring as opposed to just letting it drain in the lake or sewer. There are several dealers that use the drain and fill with antifreeze method... at least I hope they're draining. Maybe they do it just to make the clients feel better.
  22. One year I did put everything back together after draining and then stuck the raw water intake hose in a 5 gallon bucket of antifreeze. Sucked it all up quite nicely. Verified pink stuff in block by opening one of the drain plugs. Again... my only experience has been with the Indmar Monsoon.
  23. My thoughts: 1) You must drain the block, manifolds and hoses of water... period. 2) If you don't drain the block then you are really taking a risk if you just run antifreeze in via the raw water intake. Even if the engine is at operating temp.... you're going to get a mixture in there... not pure antifreeze. My manual doesn't even mention antifreeze... just draining. I've always been a little timid of just doing that... and add antifreeze. In theory though if you get the water out... air freezes at like -400 right? 3) If the block is drained.... when you start the engine the block will fill (with either antifreeze or water... whichever is provided). I believe this to be true regardless of the thermostat. I have never been able to find a good picture of why this should be so... but think of it this way.... if the t-stat has to get to 160 (or whatever) to open... and there's no water in the engine block circulating... how's the t-stat ever going to get to 160? I can't happen by induction of the metal to the metal.... the engine would be cooked long before that. 4) Personally I drain the block and all the hoses.... then I pour antifreeze in via my heater hose port (I have an Indmar monsoon). I believe this would do the same thing as removing the t-stat... and is less involved. I do also pour antifreeze in the hose for the raw water intake so it runs into the v-drive (forgive me) and transmission cooler. Then I pour antifreeze into the heater hose (after it is blown out with a tube air pump... again.. forgive me). I have never poured antifreeze into the exhaust manifolds... couldn't figure out a decent way to do that without making a mess. Just have faith that they're full of air.
  24. @bill22 I'm about 10 lbs lighter. I ended up choosing a Radar Senate Graphite 67. The sticker on the ski says it goes up to 200 lbs. I ski at 28 mostly and it supports me just fine at 190lbs. I would think at 34 mph the Senate 67 would be great... I would think the CX (preferably superlite) would be very good in a 67 also. Everyone on here steered me away from a 69" I have no experience with the Vapor... but maybe a Vapor 68 would be a good choice for his ability level..... a step up from the Senate.
  25. Just use this as motivation to lose 5-10 lbs. :)
