  1. End of last season my Dad and I got a 2000 Mastercraft Pro Star with under 500 hours and a new engine in mint condition. The boat's current perfect pass system is a Digital Pro V5.0 year 2000 (stock with the boat from factory). This system is not working (broken) and we are in need of changing to a new system. The question is, what is the main difference between a GPS system and a RPM mode paddle wheel system. (advantages/disadvantages) We are not new to the watersports scene by any means. We have a 2008 Malibu Wakesetter and have had other ski-boats previous. Having only Malibu boats in the past, we are not as familiar with Perfect Pass or GPS systems. We have a course in our back-yard and are looking to ski 70% in the course 30% open water (barefooting, open water skiing). Which system makes more sense for the upgrade?
  2. Seems to be a solid mix of people who have a set routine and a solid group who just go ski! For me, coming over to the buoy chasers side is something new as of last season. I have been wakeboarding for 18 years or so (I'm 24 now) and very rarely did I ever do much of a warm up before a wake set. I noticed very quickly the difference in intensity with skiing and feel that for me, I am going to really look to get some form of solid stretching/warm up before hitting the course this year.
  3. @Chef23 that makes a lot of sense. I never thought about this stuff as much when I was wakeboarding all the time, but I can see and feel how different skiing is. I never like doing anything full, but I also want to make sure I don't bonk at any point.

  5. As much as you can possibly take (every oportunity to ski) without having your body tell you otherwise. That is my goal every season here on out!
  6. Again, great stuff here everyone! For me, I feel that I might add a lot more stretching before my sets as a result of this. Also add a foam roller to the mix. My goal is to be more awake for my sets and feel stronger/more into my passes.
  7. @foxriverat Where are the ski courses in relation to the Broken Oar and Kiefs Reef? Is that a dam further down river?
  8. @6balls I do ski on the upper Fox (which is north of the dam in Mchenry, IL). My parents live on the upper river which runs into the chain of lakes. There is a slalom course in Dutch Creek Bay (just before the chain) which is my parents back yard. Doesn't get much sweeter than that! It is actually a major reason why I navigated away from the wakeboard scene recently... well that and the fact that my knees are starting to feel the true impact from years of landings in the flats... :p
  9. Cycling & Tennis. (Lifting 2 days out of the week too if possible).
  10. Try and keep a group site together. As a former college athlete, I know that for my team we had something as simple as a facebook group. That group has kept all the alumni together and been a great way to communicate after we all went our separate ways.
  11. What about pre set meals? I feel that is something that is extremely import as well... I feel like the bike would help my practice sets a lot, but I know before my long cycling rides; food is everything.
  12. I feel that this needs to be done (if at all) in stages. You can't just turn and flip the script all at once (as stated in the comments above). I feel that in the coming years slalom skiing is going to begin to see an overall increase in popularity again (more so than it has started to recently). It makes sense to do slalom only events for sure, it just needs to be tested to see how many people would really be on board first. I feel that it is spot on with the fact that for something like this many people would say they would be there and get involved, and then when the event day comes around, not be there (from a spectators perspective).
  13. Straight skiing I see.. haha. I'm thinking of trying to warm up with a short cycling ride to get my blood going before I head out for sets this year and wondering if anyone does the same (or something similar)
  14. What is the best warm up before your ski-set?
