  1. BOS has been a great resource to me for the sport of Water skiing. The boat information I have received has helped me many times in resolving issues and making the decision on the boat I purchased. Thanks to Horton and any body else that helps him in keeping BOS going. oldmanskier
  2. Our club boat is a 2012 Mastercraft. We have the most current version of Zero Off. The Buzzer (Beeper) volume has suddenly gone very low to almost unable to be heard. We checked the volume setting and it is set to the loudest setting. Zero Off engages ok but we can no longer hear the beeper when Zero Off engages, gives times thru the course or use as a wait timer between passes. We assume the Beeper in our Zero off is going bad. I know this is not a critical thing but somewhat annoying due to we are used to using the beeper. Anyone else had this issue and know of a fix? Thanks for any comments or suggestions. oldmanskier.
  3. ok Fatroll. Love to have you ski at No Wake. eyepeeler , lottawatta Ever want a ski ride at No wake let me know. oldmanskier.

If you want to map quest the lake location the address is: No Wake Inc. & No Wake Ski Club Inc. 3000 Battlefield Pkwy Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742 Love to have any of you come ski if you have the time and weather is good. oldmanskier.
  5. Chet Raley and his employee Noah are very good coaches.
  6. Thanks for all the information. It appears the Valvoline DEX/MERC oldjeep detailed or Royal Purple Dex3 rated synthetic robscholl-OF suggested or Valvoline multipurpose ATF dancin suggested may be the easiest to find. I will take a look at these. Thanks again for all the information. Hope to do the transmission fluid change in the next week or so. oldmanskier.
  7. My wife has been driving me since 1974 and driving the course since 1978. Everyone in the No wake ski club likes for her to drive for them. As for backing or pulling the boat around she is willing to try but I still do those duties. Oldmanskier
  8. I have been trying to find the below Transmission fluid for my 2014 Carbon Pro with a ZF/ZFE 45A transmission made in Italy. Manual says fill with ATF oil for Automatic gear boxes. It gave an extensive list of fluids to use in the ZF manual. It covers the world. The ones I saw for the “US” was: Chevron ATF F-30108, CITGO ATF DEXRON III F-30167 I have not been able to find the Chevron or CITGO listed any where on the web for sale. Anyone know where to find these particular Transmission fluid brands or know of anything comparable to the Chevron or CITGO listed above? Thanks for any information you might have. Oldmanskier
  9. I have watched Steve (Mongo) ski at Chet's in the past. For a big guy he skies light on his feet. But if he gets behind in the course he can hang on to some tough stuff. I have never seen a pylon move as much as when Steve pulls on it. Steve also is entertaining at each end of the lake on comments about his skiing. Chet also gave Steve (Mongo) a wrestling lesson one time. Mongo tells the story well. As for Chet (not 60 yet but getting close) I think he is an alien from a Water Ski planet. He is in one of the most focused skiers mentally and physically I have ever watched ski. If you go to Chet's place be sure to ride in the boat and watch him ski. I am headed to Chet's June 20 and really looking forward to a great week of skiing and watching skiing. oldmanskier.
  10. George Levien is one of my favorite 60 year old plus skiers: If you ever go to Chet's and George is there try to watch George ski from the boat. I usually go to Chet's in June every year and one of the highlights of my trip is getting to be around George, listen to his stories and watch him ski. I have seen him run multiple 38's from the boat and his skiing commentary at each end of the lake can be quite entertaining. George also gives so much back to the sport as a tournament safety director as well as working other tournament tasks. Thanks George for all you do for the sport of waterskiing. Oldmanskier
  11. I was looking thru my 2014 PCM 5.7 Catanium™ CES EX343 engine owner’s manual and could not find a reference to Shell Rotella anywhere. Under oil recommendations it had the following: Engine Oil Requirements (ALL Engines EXCEPT XS550) Prevailing Ambient Recommended A.P.I. Temperature Classification & Viscosity Above 50°F SAE 15W-40 “GF-4/SM” Below 50°F SAE 5W-30 “GF-4/SM” IMPORTANT: The use of oils which contain “solid” additives, non-detergent oils or low quality oils specifically are not recommended. This appears to allow any high quality oil that meets the Engine oil requirements stated in the owner’s manual. Where does it say Shell Rotella is the recommended brand? Thanks. Oldmanskier.
  12. I was able to find some old stock (SM rated) Rotella T Triple protection and Rotella T4 Triple protection 15w-40 (total around 6 gallons) this weekend at some auto part stores and Wallmart. This will give me close to 4 oil changes before I run out. Hopefully PCM will come out with a updated recomendation on oil for the 5.7 PCM in the future. Note: The T4 you have to check carefully. The jugs look a like but some have the SM rating and some do not.
  13. Oldjeep thanks for the clarification on the Rotella T Triple protection. I will be stopping by some auto parts stores this weekend to see if I can find any old stock Rotella T Triple protection with a SM rating. Oldmanskier
  14. I searched the web to see if I could find any old stock Shell Rotella T3 15W-40. I did not find much on T3 but got several hits on Shell Rotella T 15w-40. What is the difference between T and T3? Is it ok to use T 15w-40 in a 2014 pcm 5.7 catalytic converter engine? Thanks. Oldmanskier
  15. Thanks for taking time to reply Freddy. Our boat is back from shop and the Zero off has been working fine so far on the one good puck. I will save the site you sent in case our club needs to get another puck. Thanks again for the reply and I hope you have a great season this year. Oldmanskier.
  16. I ski on a Goode Wide Ride. When doing deep water starts the ski tends to slice in to the rope on the handle. I know some companies have guards on their handles to prevent this. I currently wrap heavy Duty Gorilla Tape around the rope on the handle and that works ok. I just have to add tape from time to time. I thought about using shrink wrap tubing like they use in electrical but was not for sure if during the heating process with a hot air gun if it would damage the rope. Anyone have suggestions for protecting the handle from ski cutting it? Thanks. Oldmanskier
  17. We are on our third year using the same set of Wally Buoys. They have not faded or developed holes. They are not cheap but they sure do last under normal use. They do not survive gun shots very well as someone decided to shoot one of our buoys. Oldmanskier
  18. Thanks for all the suggestions. The club decided not to do the $1500 Zero Off purchase from Mastercraft Company that Zero Off said was needed. The MC dealer even said we should look for cheaper options first due that was the first time they had heard of a $1500 part needed for Zero off. Thanks again. oldmanskier
  19. Our club boat is a 2012 Mastercraft Pro Star197 with a Zero Off 2 puck system. Took to dealer for spring maintenance to get it ready for ski season. I asked them to look at our Zero Off system due to the following: At times we get a No GPS message. We have to cut boat off, switch battery off, let sit for a few minutes, turn battery back on and start boat. This usually resolves the issue. Sometimes we have to do the process twice or three times. MC dealer researched and said they could not get Diagnostics c screen to come up. They called Zero Off and Zero Off sent them software to install. Diagnostics screen started working and one of the GPS pucks showed bad. Our boat can operate on one puck but would like both to work. Mc dealer called Zero Off company and Zero Off said we would have to get the part directly from Mastercraft company. It would cost $1500. I and the MC dealer were shocked. Zero Off said it was due to our Zero Off being the competition system and Mastercraft soft ware they use for the GPS pucks for their boats. I asked about the $450 puck advertised on the Zero Off web site but Zero Off said it would not work on the Mastercraft. Not for sure what club will decide to do as boat currently works on one good Gps puck. Anyone else heard of a Zero Off Puck costing $1500 for a 2012 MC????????. Thanks. Oldmanskier
  20. Pickle Juice appears to work well for me. To make a short story long read details below. I have been doing hard labor down at the ski lake the last four Saturdays Cutting trees, clearing/stacking brush trimming bushes etc. I would work about 4 hours solid sweating a lot but drinking lots of water. The first Saturday I got home and started having bad cramps all over. The second Saturday same thing with bad cramps. The third Saturday after working I went and found Pickle juice product at a sports store. They only had one six pack of the 8 oz left on the shelf. I grabbed it quick and headed to checkout. I could feel the cramps coming on while standing in line to pay for pickle juice. I got to truck and killed an 8oz bottle of Pickle Juice. In about 3 to 5 minutes I could feel my muscles start to relax. They were sore but not cramping. That night I had a minor cramp or two but nothing major like the previous weeks. Yesterday after working another Four hours of brush clearing I drank an 8 oz. bottle of Pickle Juice. No cramps until about 2 hours later I had a bad leg cramp. I limped over to counter moaning in pain and drank another 8 oz. Pickle Juice. The cramp subsided in about two minutes. When I have had a cramp of that type in the past they could last 20 minutes or more. In my opinion this stuff works. Or at least it works for a 63 year old fat guy like me. Pickle Juice can be hard to find in my area. I have just ordered online a 12 pack 8 oz. and a 12 pack of I believe 2.5 oz. of the Pickle Juice product. Thanks to Horton for giving the information about Pickle Juice product on his web site. oldmanskier
  21. Years ago Chet told me something that sounds like what you guys are describing. If I remember correctly he told me to take as much angle one handed as possible. In other words free hand should not take handle until you are at the angle you want to take across course. I still focus on that key when I am having trouble with my on side turn. oldmanskier
  22. On a regular type ski I can use a 68" but prefer 69" or 70" ski due to being a fat guy. The GOODE 66" wide ride is the ski Chet suggested for me a few years ago. He said I was a Big wide guy and needed a Big Wide ski. The Goode 66" WR has been a great ski for me. I have a like new 2015 68" Obrien conquer (I got very cheap) that has three sets on it. When my 2009 GOODE 66" WR gives out I am going to give the Conquer a try. I keep hoping to get motivated and lose 20 lbs but that is another story. Oldmanskier
  23. Thanks for all the information. I now have one spare puck and from all the information above I believe it will be enough. Thanks again. oldmanskier
  24. Thanks for all the information. I purchased a two system puck a Promo guy had as a spare for his 2015 boat for $165. He assured me the Puck worked in that he used it until he got his one puck system. Seemed like a good price considering the new ones are$450. If the two puck system can run on one good puck I hope one spare will be enough for me until I have to upgrade to a one puck system at some point in the future. I am just trying to have the parts to prolong this as long as possible. Question for you Zero Off experts: I now have a spare puck for my Zero Off 2 puck system. I have found another one. If the two puck system can run on one good puck, Would it still be a good idea to purchase another one and have two spare pucks for my Zero two puck system? or Is that overkill for having spare Zero Off parts? Thanks for al the Info. oldmanskier
