  1. How much does it cost to purchase a Zero Off PCM cable? I have a 2014 Carbon Pro I plan on keeping till I cannot ski anymore and will probably need a Zero off ECM cable at some point. Thanks. oldmanskier
  2. Thanks for the comments. I am gathering information now for the insurance we have now and what it covers. Once I have this I will contact the suggested insurance representatives for a quote. oldmanskier
  3. Revised wording on questions asked: Questions: I was curious what others were paying around the country for private ski lake liability insurance? What insurance company’s would you recommend for private ski lake liability insurance?
  4. I am one of the owners (10 owners in all) of a private ski lake (No Wake Lake) in the Chattanooga Tenn. area. The Lake is for 3 event skiing (we have a jump) and is built in a flood plain. No homes can be built on the property. I have noticed our lake liability insurance has gone up considerably over the last few years. It is now around $5300 for liability insurance for our lake. Questions: I was curious what others were paying around the country private ski lake liability insurance? What insurance company’s would you recommend for private ski lake liability insurance? Thanks oldmanskier
  5. I asked Chet about this a few years ago due to I noticed Noah and Chet never seemed to have hand issues. Chet said to use as thin a glove as possible. At that time Pro gear was the thinnest I found. Then I went to Masterline weekenders (cheap but thin glove) Once I could no longer get weekenders I went to Radar Theory gloves. They are very cheap thin glove with a great grip and usually last me about two months skiing 5 sets a week. I think Chet uses the Miami Nautique gloves which are very thin. Since I have gone to the thin glove my hands stay in much better shape even when I ski at Chets in the Florida warm water. oldmanskier
  6. My wife had a full knee replacement on her right knee 5 years ago. At that time the surgeon wanted her to wait a full year before skiing again. The wife did all required therapy and more, waited the year and has had no issues skiing. She is scheduled to have her left knee replaced in October so not for sure what surgeon will say full recovery for skiing is this time. Note: My wife no longer skies the course and skies on two skies due to her left knee is quite painful at this time. But she still loves to get out there and take cuts behind the boat and has been driving the course since 1978. Everyone in the club loves her driving skills. Due to she is a great boat driver I told her I would keep her as long as I could get parts to keep her going and she does not make too much noise. Hope all goes well with your knee replacement. oldmanskier
  7. Work schedule and weather finally got in sync and I got to ski behind my 2014 Carbon Pro yesterday. I just free skied at 28 off 32 mph at first. I wanted to see what the wake was like with one in the boat, full tank of gas and no ballast on passenger's side. I tried just skiing flat across the wake to see if it would hit hard. Just a very soft feeling as I went across the wake. I then started getting more and more aggressive going thru the wakes. No jar, bump or any feeling that would throw me off balance. Best 28 off wake I have ever experienced. My last pass I went for it and went thru the gates. Had a great one ball and was really early for two. I was very tired due to all the spinning passes and just stood up and rode back to dock. My next outing I will either fill ballast tank on passenger side or have a passenger to see what wake fills like with more weight in the boat. The boat has a very good hole shot for pulling me up (currently 207 lbs on a Goode WR) and is up to speed with plenty of time for course set up. My wife said it tracked very well and was easy to drive. So far I love this boat. Anyone have an opinion of the 22 off wake behind the Carbon Pro? Our club boat hammers me so hard at 22 off I have not tried 22 in 4 years due to it does not take much to get my bad ankle sore. My level of skiing it would be good if I could start at 22off. Hope everyone has a great season. Oldmanskier.
  8. OCD that is me. I have had prop, drive belt, lost boat drain plug, flat tire on trailer all ruin a good ski day. If I had a spare the day would have been ok. Horton thanks for the offer on getting one from factory. I will try the overtons generic one first. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.
  9. My 2014 Carbon Pro does not have a Raw Water strainer. Every inboard I have owned (except for my 78 Mastercraft) and all our club boats since 1997 had a strainer. I bought a Sherwood from skidim and will install this weekend. Our lake has major weed and lake scum issues in the spring so I need one. I know of another 2014 Carbon Pro owner who also did not have a strainer. Just wondering if any Carbon Pros come with Raw Water strainers? Thanks.
  10. oldjeep: Thanks for the overton's suggestion. I saw these but did not know if any of them would fit correctly. At $10 not a big deal if none of them fit. I do not clip the lanyard to any thing but I like to have it just in case I needed to pull it for some reason.
  11. The thing I like about the Wally soft buoys is I hit a Wally ski buoy a couple of times last year and it did not jar my ankle like other ski buoys. They are well worth the price just to save an injury from hitting a hard buoy. Not that you could not get hurt on a Wally but so far my ankle has survived each Wally hit.
  12. I did. They only sell the whole kit. I just need a lanyard that will fit my Carbon Pro. Thanks
  13. I am somewhat paranoid about having spare parts handy that can keep a ski day from being wasted. For my 2014 Carbon Pro I have a spare prop, Impeller, boat keys, Serpentine belt and spare tire for trailer. I have been searching the internet to purchase a spare safety lanyard. I see lots for PWC's and outboards. Will these fit the safety cut off switch on a carbon Pro? Thanks. oldmanskier
  14. Thanks for all the comments. I have not read up on ballast system yet. When you turn it on does it auto shut off when tank is full?
  15. Being the new owner of a 2014 Carbon Pro I was curious as to what everyone thinks of the ballast system used to adjust for no passenger weight. The person I purchased my boat from preferred to use shot bag weights to level boat. They did not want to have all that dampness under the bow of the boat which could cause the tank get all scummy and dirty from being wet all the time. The ballast tank on my boat has never been used and looks like new. Questions: Do ballers with Carbon Pros use the ballast system? If so how do you determine how much water to pump in? Or Do most of you still use weights of some kind to balance the boat? oldmanskier
  16. Thanks for all the great comments and possible trailer level issue. I have several different pull bars and will try one that is a bit higher and see what it does. Just waiting a for few days of warm weather to get water temp up.
  17. I finally pulled the trigger and bought a 2014 Carbon Pro. Boat looks great and is matches my truck. It looks like new. The person I bought it from really takes care of a boat. Cannot wait for good weather. oldmanskier See attached pics
  18. 2014 Carbon Pro with 409 $35,000 and 2014 Carbon Pro with 5.7 $35,000. in Wisconsin. I have been looking at the Z409 boat for a while. But due to distance from my house (13 hours one way), traveling expenses, will not be able to lake test till end of March Early April due to Wisconsin weather and not having some of the options I really wanted I have decided not to pursue. I just wanted to make ballofspray people aware of these two boats. Details: These boats were leased to a waterski club in Wisconsin for Aquanut Water shows. I was told the bottom line price on boat with Z409 engine and boat with 5.7 is $35,000. Not for sure why 5.7 and Z409 boat are the same price. Engine hours on the 5.7 343 are 226 hours Engine hours on the 6.0 409 are 243 hours They came in new and were then leased to the water ski club. Dealer has since taken them back and are only trying to get $35,000 out of each boat. They are bare bones boats not frills, no Bimini. Both boats come with trailer and full cover. Boats do have advertising graphics decals on them I assume for dealer advertising in ski shows. Not for sure if these are easily removed or not. Notes from my research on Z409 boat and link with pictures. Below Link was posted last year so boat hours are what I was given above.: 2014 Carbon Pro Hours 243 as of 02/26/2016 Asking $39,900 will take $35,000, Engine PCM ZR409 Williams Bay, WI Link here Location: Gage Marine, Williams Bay, WI 53191 Gage Marine (866) 304-2442 Virtually Flawless - ZR409 - Save Thousands! Color Red/Black/White deck and bottom asking price $39,900 2014 Centurion Carbon Pro - PCM ZR409 - single axle trailer - full cover - Zero Off - 123 hours! - Oldmanskier has purchased a boat. More on that after I pick it up Saturday.
  19. Colebrah or anyone else that might know: I just did a quote with Ski Safe for a 2014 Centurion Carbon Pro I am looking at. It gave a quote for two different packages. The higher priced package was $314 for I believe the Captions package. I live in Chattanooga TN. Question: I will be using this boat on a private ski lake leased by a ski club. Do I need any kid of extra riders for using a boat on a private lake to cover the ski club. Liability was $100,000. This seems low. Can you get larger liability on a boat thru ski safe? Thanks. oldmanskier
  20. Kfennel and lakeaustinskier thanks for the reference on Jeff's boat. I will add this to that boats folder from my research. I have contacted Jeff and asked questions. SMMR great place. I was there at 2014 Nationals. Watching not skiing. I am looking at everything Carbon Pro 2013 and newer under 300 hours. What ever I get will most likely be the last boat I get. So it needs to last 7 to 10 years. By then my skies days may be over due to every year I get a new medical issue or injury of some kind. I hope the Carbon Pro has a nice 22 off wake (once I test one I will know). I am currently having to start at 28 off on our club 2012 Mastercraft due to 22 off hump on that boat destroys my ankle. 28 off I can manage but I really should be starting at 22 off. Thanks again for all the information. oldmanskier
  21. Thanks for all the great information. I may have missed it in reading all the comments. Is the 2014 and 2015 Carbon Pro PCM 6.0 409 a Full closed system or a Half closed system? Much to think about. Not for sure if I want to give the extra money for a Carbon Pro 6.0. This is due to I have had many comments in this and another post I started about Carbon Pro 6.0. The comments tend to lean towards that the Carbon Pro with a 6.0 did not have that much of a difference in slalom pull than the 5.7 and, the 5.7 is all I need for a good slalom pull. I have much to think about concerning the Carbon Pro I choose. Thanks again for all the information. oldmanskier.
  22. I have been looking at a couple of Carbon Pros (2014 and 2015) with 6.0 PCM 409 engines. They both have a closed cooling system. Do all 6.0 in Carbon pros have closed cooling systems? What are the advantages/Disadvantages to Closed cooling systems? I assume the closed cooling would increase price of boat. Oldmanskier.
  23. How far are you from Chattanooga TN? Only options I would want: Bimini top, possibly 6.0 engine depending on price difference, Zero off, trailer and spare tire. What price do you think you would ask for boat. You can e-mail me at tomjsmothers@aol.com Thanks.
  24. Thanks for all the information. I personally do not like Open Bow boats so that is not a issue for me. Chattanooga no issue with high altitude. The Carbon Pro sounds like the best bang for the buck. Thanks again for all the info.
