  1. Unless you are only paying $5k, I would agree to go see it yourself, or maybe (maybe) have seller take to dealer, who you could pay for inspection and possible lake test?Even if you have someone on BOS check it for you, they may have different view of “ok” than you. Exception also may be if it is only a year or two old and looks clean and covered by transferrable warranty. But if you are paying that $$$, a plane ticket and hotel room is a small investment to be 100% happy. It also depends on how picky you are. Some folks have bought boats without going to see and happy. FaceTime walk around, lake test and pictures would make a lot of folks happy. Good luck
  2. @tjs1295 I support your logic. Good to have a backup plan. Having said that, it would absolutely not fly at my house.
  3. @BraceMaker Makes sense thanks. Although your analogy has me off track now.
  4. Good info here, thanks.@jpwhit I think I "learned" on MC teamtalk that the plastic fuel tanks are less likely to suck in moisture than the older metal ones? I've been running boat to 1/4 for quite a while now for winter storage. Agree this is not an ideal solution for those adding 5-10 gal at a time vs filling up, or don't want a full tank ever, but see the point the prostar is low on the total MC list for "common" component selections....
  5. reading thru this wondering if I should still use non ethanol at end of year, as it feels better to have that sit in all winter (6 months or so). I run ethanol / 89 all summer. Is is bad for fuel gauge to do that? Worse than leaving the ethanol fuel sit all winter? I try to run close to empty, so less old fuel in spring.
  6. May have been option on that tsc2 hull. I know someone with 05 that had racks dealer installed and I think they looked kinda like that, been a while since I’ve seen the boat.
  7. Nice job. Great boat and engine! The gel looks great. those early 90’s interiors hold up well too.
  8. Prostar is a great boat. Only negative in my mind is the open bow is borderline worthless. It is low. If you have 3+ people in driver / observer row (which is in front of engine box / CG of boat), it sits low. Add 100+ lbs of kids up front and it gets really low. For what you have typed, I’d pick the nautique. Or a malibu VTX like mentioned in other thread. Or malibu with tower or a SN206 if you can find one. MC214 good too, but hard to find also. If your son keeps improving and really really wants to get serious, then you look at slalom boat or two boats.

    2023 Prostar

At least one ski rack and back seats. And I think I see speakers. So not stripped. Looks nice.
  10. Yeah, this thread will be way better when decision is announced and a pic posted.
  11. I think factors heaters have defroster port. On Prostar it would be to the right of that glovebox in you pic.
  12. Nautique first. Great boat. Get it fast. Then MC if you miss the nautique Unless you are a carb guy, then maybe the Supra is interesting w the tower. Adding a tower is likey easier than swapping to fuel injected engine… 6 people will be a handful on all of those boats. Most on this forum are skiing with 2-3 people and want best ski wake possible.
  13. Need to work on ski aerodynamics now in addition to in-water performance.
  14. Rebuild the tranny. Engine should have lots of life. Assume you are not skiing 36mph, boat should last you a long time. Could add stargazer and zbox if you have money burning hole in your pocket. Unless of course you really want ZO in THAT boat, independent of a financial decision. Then keep going.
  15. $300? Do you take a private jet everywhere you go? Ha. Seems like you should get fixed up ok. Calm water is for skiing, staring though. Hope soon.
  16. One of my ski buddies (not on BOS), is moving out to Colorado Springs next spring / summer. Quick google maps satellite search didn’t show much. Or I searched too fast… Are there ski sites anywhere nearby, or even south to mid Denver? Course would obviously be ideal, but free skiing is better than no skiing. He has boat, so could take it somewhere, or pay for pulls etc at a club, or established crew looking for a third or another reliable person, or whatever. Thanks for any leads / info.
  17. Not saying it may not be a deal. It’s market price, or could be…
  18. @Than_Bogan $75k good price for a 2 year old 300 hour boat with no backseats (don’t see in pics) or ski racks….. So almost a base model. Ha. Supply / demand will continue to do its thing….
  19. I love those gloves. On 2nd pair. Didn’t have that happen on either. As stated, get them wet and pull on nicely.
  20. Get a nice ski. If you want to keep costs down, Would recommend one a few years old (ski-it-again) so you can get for good deal then sell for minimal loss as you grow.
  21. @Broussard It’s what we have to do before we wait a bit then play hockey on the lake! Although skiing year round and just going to a rink to skate would be WAY easier.
  22. Bumping this as a PSA.... Noticed our pylon was flexing a while back. So, I got the u-bolts really tight - default answer, although they seemed tight already. Still flexing, so found this thread. The top pylon u-bolt connects to good size aluminum angle iron that is bolted to the hull/stringer/whatever. Solid. The lower u-bolt connects to aluminum angle iron & plate that connects to the floor via the bolts from the front skeg, as mentioned above. They were all loose. So pretty sure I found the problem.... The rear 2 bolts were double nutted, and the 2nd was nylock nut. Good job MC. The front 2 bolts are barely accessible, only by open end wrench, doing part turn, then flipping wrench over to turn more. Repeat, etc. The pylon comes down to almost contact the front 2 bolts, so not sure about a double nut there, as I don't think there is enough space. Ideally, the skeg would have longer base and these bolts would be accessible thru the floor cooler box thing. Haven't skied yet, but as stated, I can't imagine taking these from finger tight to "tight as i can get 'em" with the wrench won't fix it.... Thought this would be a good thing for folks to check at winterization vs having to mess with in middle of summer!
