  1. I agree it’s really strange that the tracking fins were removed. Could be they took them off so a non 200v specific trailer would work? if the boat was run without the tracking fins and the bolts weren’t in place, there was water getting up there which imho is bad. I mangled the lead tracking fin on a rock while on vacation with my old 196, so I took it off by swimming under at the boat (but put the bolts back in) and after the week was over and the boat was back on the trailer, I pulled the bolts and couldn’t believe how much water came out!
  2. +1 for Jodi Fisher, he does have a little beach area and loungers & chairs. Great coach for all ages and abilities.
  3. The 2019 and up 200’s are also heavier than a 196 by ~500 lbs…
  4. Yeah - it’s too bad that happened, they had a good set up and was the perfect combination of beach resort for my wife and skiing for me.
  5. @ColeGiacopuzzi - club med Cancun used to have a course in the lagoon behind the resort until mid 2021 when at night a small kid wandered down, went past a gate at the lagoon edge and a croc grabbed him. He survived, but as you can imagine that ended their waterski/wakeboard program permanently. They used to have a set of hardcore skiers that would come every year. They also didn’t tell clients already booked for the winter (like me!) that they had shut it down. I happened to notice in the Fall the website no longer listed waterskiing, so I caught it in time to change resorts - many others were not so lucky. Baby croc near the buildings that hang over the edge of the lagoon, warning sign you pass on the way down to the waterski dock :-)
  6. @VONMAN - do you know who built the trailer for the boat when it was originally sold? That will be key as they will have the design specs all set to go to knock one out for you.
  7. Per the heater, I would use a small section of new hose to create a bypass as you suggest. Leave the existing hoses there after you disconnect from the block in case you change your mind on fixing it or if you sell it down the road as a buyer might want to fix it. Running new heater lines to the core is a hassle. My 2006 was Perfect Pass and DBW, your 2007 should be Zero Off.
  8. @Jody_Seal - speaking of Nautiques, I sent you a PM with a question.
  9. @Horton - don’t you have the ability to “redirect” this thread to PlanetNautique where it belongs :-)
  10. If you start with the union, you can keep it as a learner ski for friends after you upgrade to a senate in a few years.
  11. One other thing to double check is that the trailer is level when rigged. If the trailer angles up as it approaches the truck, that will reduce the tongue load on the hitch and could worsen the bouncing effect.
  12. Did this issue creep in over time or has it always been like that? Looks odd in terms of how pushed in the front of hitch is based on the pic - that probably why you got the question on there being no brake fluid in it. Brake lines do rust out on old trailers that are dunked frequently. Have you tried a different ball just to eliminate that as the issue? After that you might have to replace the actuator. Never had to “adjust” the latching mechanism on the 3 different trailers I had over the years.
  13. Actually, it’s the lack of a shock absorption system inside your head that’s the root of the problem. When your head hits something that brings it to a dead stop, your brain goes slamming into the inside of your skull. Hence helmets that are designed to absorb the impact will reduce the de-acceleration rate of your head, which in turn reduces how hard you brain hits the inside of your skull. This is why the NFL now has the “guardian” helmet cover players are wearing in practice, it’s an airbag like wrapper around the outside of the normal helmet that reduces the force and impact experienced in a collision. The movie “Concussion” about the doctor who discovered CTE in football players provides great insight into what is happening.
  14. @JayShower - thanks for the link, I am not against a helmet for water sports, but it needs to be designed for intended usage. As the article points out, the greater surface area of the helmet and it buoyancy actually de-accelerate your head even faster when it hits the water, which worsens your concussion. Hence my thoughts on the rock climbing helmet not being materially beneficial - outside of preventing you from injuries from hitting the ski/board in a crash. Waterskiing is a contact sport, injuries will happen , but concussions seem far more frequent in other sports. I’ve gotten a few concussions wrestling in HS & college, never skiing. Trying to learn how to wakeboard - yes, and that’s why I stopped :-)
  15. @S1Pitts - rock climbing helmets are designed for protecting against rock fall and hitting you head against the wall in a bad lead fall, so I don’t think it will help prevent concussions. Yes there is a little bit of cushion in there but not much. Worse, most climbing helmets have a 1/2” gap between your head and the helmet which I worry could get grabbed by the water in a sideways fall and really yank your head and hurt your neck.
  16. Definitely worth it. We maintain a course on a large public lake, it’s proximal to one side but is exposed. We lose more buoys to zip ties wearing out as the lake can get really windy at times. I put new zip ties on mid summer and make sure each season starts with new ones. I probably replaced 3 boat guides and 4 turn buoys over the whole season. The course has been there for 20+ years, and people on our lake are pretty good about avoiding it. Occasionally we get someone that’s a renter for a week who decides to target the pre gates with their tube. Most of the fisherman are local to the lake, so they usually move out of the course as we putt over at 7AM to ski. For boat guides we use solid foam buoys as they can take multiple prop hits and thump the underside of any boat that runs them over - this acts as a nice deterrent… We put our phone# on the buoys so if one gets cut loose we get a call maybe 50% of time. When we pulled the course for the winter yesterday, we discovered 2 lines had been cut but whoever did it actually repaired it! Good luck!
  17. @skihart - definitely get the new trailer, you buying a $100k+ boat, a single axle trailer will be another 10%, well worth it IMHO to protect your investment. It will make selling it easier as well…
  18. I used to own it’s twin, minus the ZO upgrade. Exact same colors. Great boat.
  19. Are your laces bungie cord or static cord? Either way as others have said you want to make sure you can come out of the binding if you crash. Bungie gives you more escapability, but you can over tighten even with bungie laces, one of my ski buddies broken ankle will attest to that. An older binding I had came with both bungie and static cord laces, after seeing a few friends OTF and sprain ankles - I put the bungie laces back on mine.
  20. If slalom is the main focus, I would avoid any v drive. IMHO the wake at slower speeds and longer line lengths on the 200V is terrible from a course skier perspective. The wake is better at 34/36 mph at 28 off or shorter, but that’s not where you guys are at.
  21. Sure sounds like the same issue, I had that delayed start long after I pushed the start button behavior as well, many Nautiques that are DBW are hitting this, lots of wakeboard boats on planet Nautique are reporting it as well. If you occasionally hear the fuel pump kick, but it doesn’t crank - that’s the boat thinking it’s in gear. If you had a safety lanyard issue, it would do the opposite: crank but not start. One other note for the meantime until u swap it out. Once it starts, if you are out skiing, don’t shut it off until your back at the dock. Unless you are not the original owner this should be replaced under warranty.
  22. Ah - I see it now that you pointed us the “show ski” section. Might want to move it to 3 event category. There are 128 boats in 3 event, 6 in the show ski, which I never looked at when I was looking to buy a used 200…. I don’t even know why the have that category.
  23. Any reason you haven’t listed it on ski-it-again/3 event boats? It’s free and will give you more exposure. Adding pictures will also help a lot in terms of moving the boat. @Horton as the admin might be able to adjust your OP.
  24. @ScottScott - that sucks, not sure what’s up with the “I can’t go any slower”, only reasons I can think of would be: 1. Very short set up, so he didn’t have enough runway to accommodate a slower start and hit the desired speed for ZO to lock in at the pregates? 2. Before I owned a boat I rented a POS outboard for week that would stall if the driver didn’t drop the hammer on take off…
  25. FYI - I am still waiting to hear from Livorsi if my failed throttle base assembly off my SN200 can be repaired so I have a back up - I sent it in May… so the repair pathway could take a long time.
