  1. HRT is easier to transition to coming from a double set up than making the jump to an RTP. I tried the RTP and didn’t like it. I switched to the 1/2 rear style due to going with a hard shell for the front.
  2. @jhughes - bummer that still can happen - just to confirm, you have the vented pro plugs? I’ve only had one or two falls since that I assume would have resulted in a blown ear drum, but no way to know for sure.
  3. Yep - soccer shin guard (cut off the ankle protector) with a neoprene spray leg protector over it to hold in place. It’s not the release lever that bites you, it’s the heel block on the back of the hardshell that can get you on an OTF.
  4. Yep - been there done that, I now ski with doc’s pro plugs, they are vented which is critical for impact protection and they allow you to hear just fine. If you wear regular ear plugs that are not vented, you will still blow out your eardrum as the air behind it will still get compressed inward, the vent allows the air to escape. Only annoyance is sometimes the vent hole gets temporarily plugged with water on one side off a deep water start and I have to shake it out before starting my pull out. https://www.proplugs.com/p-112-docs-proplugs-vented-red-wo-leash.aspx Dive shops carry them so go in a try on the sizing samples in the store to get the right size. Can’t beat them and they are $14.
  5. Pretty broad statement - would be better to have a specific model & year in mind. The only long line bad Nautique wake I have skied, and then refused to ski… was the 200V, now that wake at 15/22 off was terrible. As a Nautique owner it pains me to say it, but the best wake I ski behind now is my friends 2018 MC Prostar.
  6. @Bdecker - I went from reflex r style rear to boa HRT rear, I think the r style rear locks in a little snugger, but I couldn’t get my foot back in while in the water if I crashed. HRT durability was much better than the r-style which chewed up liners and rusted out parts. HRT is simpler and easier, and felt equivalent from a performance perspective. I cut back the front of the HRT plate to get my big toe right up against the back of the front boot.
  7. I personally wouldn’t mix old and new components where the silveretta release mechanism changed. Your running a configuration that I suspect Reflex has not tested/certified to ensure it works as expected.
  8. Thanks everyone - I always wanted a Mapple edition 200.
  9. Anyone know what the MSRP on the mapple edition was?
  10. That surprising it doesn’t track well at 30mph, sounds like something else is going on. My 2006 TSC2 hull tracks fine at 30. Lower than 30 the boat isn’t fully on plane, so the PP has a hard time at 26 & 28mph but it still tracks ok.
  11. When you go to test drive a boat, bring your ski gear (including a rope) and test ski the wake while you are at it.
  12. You can try NECC boats in Rochester, former CC dealer for decades, they had great service tech’s. Possible that’s where you boat originally came from when new.
  13. How old is the Stargazer puck? I started to have that issue and needed to replace the puck. There was also a server side change made that caused a 30 sec delay for it lock - this issue can be fixed by sending the puck back to be flashed with newer firmware. Sounds your puck is bad if it never locks.
  14. This is the sign you pass going down to the waterski area:
  15. The ClubMed in Cancun has a slalom course in the lagoon behind the resort, but I don’t know if you can get a day pass anymore. Slalom only is from 8-9 (or was 9-10), after that it’s pandemonium in the lagoon as they somehow run two boats simultaneously for skiing and wakeboarding in there without running anyone over. The other issue is it’s adults only for skiing these days, even if you are staying at the resort. Not sure if that was to reduce traffic/demand or because there are crocodiles in the lagoon…
  16. Rock: 1, Tracking fin: 0 I went to look at a house for sale on the lake in a region I wasn’t familiar with, muddy bottom so no visibility, in 7 feet of water about 50 ft from shore I caught a rock piling just under the surface. Thank god I was going super slow and only the lead tracking hit it, the hull glided right over the top.
  17. I swapped out the actuator on my old Nautique trailer as part of converting it from drum brakes to disk and replacing the brake line as it had rusted through inside the trailer. Pretty easy to remove the actuator, just remove the bolts and disconnect the brake line as you have noted.
  18. Did you consider buying a new trailer set up the way you want it and then sell the old trailer? There are definitely people out there looking for a used trailer.
  19. Just provide context on the mooring over lashing to the dock: 1. Since your not there you can’t align the boat on the leeward side of the dock based on wind direction, so you run the risk of the boat bashing against the dock, damaging the dock & the boat. 2. With 60 mph winds you could easily have 2 ft swells - which will act as a hydraulic lift when the swell lifts the boat where the force generated is from the water pressure applied against the wetted surface, so my concern is that could pull the dock apart. Maybe that’s not the case if the fetch (the distance the wind has to act on to induce waves) isn’t that big? Putting in a proper mooring would cost maybe $1000? all in for a professional diver to put it in, but will absolutely handle storm potential you have as a worst case scenario. For me, peace of mind is worth the extra $$ to me given I am 3 hours from our lake house.
  20. Do you have enough waterfront to install a mooring? That would be better than it tied to the dock. We get a lot of wind on our lake and most people opt for a 150# mooring set up.
  21. @swbca - the bumper itself is air filled and the material is softer than my boats rub rail, so there is a little scuffing on the bumper, nothing noticeable on the rail. If you expect to get big rollers that will send the boat banging into the docks sideways these bumpers don’t offer enough cushion. In my case if I get wind down the lake that will cause this I put the boat back on the lift. But for rollers from surf boats with the nose out orientation it works great. The brand is Guardian, you can get them without the backing plate, I bought mine as is with the mount for steel poles from Great Northern Docks in Naples, ME
  22. I have guardian vertical plastic bumpers I use that work well (I can’t seem to upload a picture for some reason). They are 36” tall, 4” wide and are mounted on a rigid backing. Question is how much buffer does your run rail give you before the letters hit? If there isn’t much, whips as other mentioned is probably the best option.
  23. I have a “day” position for my boat as well - but I put it nose out on the side where you bench is so the waves from wake boats don’t send the boat banging into the dock.
