  1. You can start jumping at any age, we have a couple who ski with us who are both over 50 and just learnt to jump, absolutely love it. You need to make sure you have the right instruction and planning before hand to make it really fun. Just being thrown over the ramp is definitely not a good plan. Get to know your skis first and foremost, we don't let people go over until they can cut both direction, jump the wakes without pulling on the handle, cross the wakes by lifting one ski up and cutting through on one ski. We need to see you be balanced and in control of the jump skis before sliding over. When going over for the first time we always use a rope release just in case someone falls into the handle. Basically drive 18-20mph close to the ramp, head up, arms straight, skis shoulder width apart and freeze. Lastly don't use long skis for your first time, try to use skis shorter than 80", preferably a pair of old 74" is best. If you go over enjoy, its a lot of fun. Thomas Asher
  2. Hey guys, thanks for the feedback, we always value our customers opinion and views on the EVO2. Any comments good or bad we take into serious consideration. @Jerry44 the vest will give when it gets wet, we have found that getting a vest to fit loose at the start will become to bit big down the road. If you can get it on dry straight out the box, you will be OK. The material will give a little but will never go saggy. If you have any further questions or concerns you can e-mail me at tom@stokesskis.com, we are always happy to help, being skiers ourselves and still competing on the world circuit, we understand the need for our/your ski gear to be just right. All the best and hope it feels much better when out on the water. Thomas Asher

  4. Hey guys, we have been working on a new sizing chart for the new NITRO vest. The EVO 2 is pretty standard sizing. The NITRO as horton previously commented is smaller in sizing, so you may need to size up. I had a skier in both vests trying a XXL who is 6 foot with a 46" chest and 41" waist and a well formed beer/wine gut ;-). The skier was able to put the jackets on and zip up no problem. You could tell the NITRO was a little smaller but the EVO 2 fit just right. He actually found them both to be comfortable and commented on the NITRO having a softer feel to it. On our jackets as compared to others there is probably a larger gap when not zipped up due to the material we use. When I put my large on their is at least a 6" gap. But once zipped up it feels really nice on. We have a size chart up now for the EVO 2 showing people in our jacket with their dimensions. @ironhorse attached is a pic of a skier in the EVO 2 showing length and sizing. The jacket modeled is an XL. The jacket length is 25" and the width is 19". The skier in the pic is 44" chest 37" waist 185 lbs and 6'. Fit him real nice.
  5. Hey guys, thanks for giving the EVO 2 a go. @edmund I hope you like the jacket. Its super comfortable with what we think is a nice amount of padding without being to bulky. @rivvy We do have a high rated impact padding in the vest, so its not just for flotation but also for protection. Hope the vest will help with any unfortunate crashes. @6ball good combination, we have people skiing in the slalom suit in the UK still, think air 45-50degs and water about 50. If anyone is looking to feel one out and are in the FL area. Performance ski and Surf, Orlando and Miami Nautique carry both the NITRO and EVO 2.
  6. Hi @Ed_Johnson The NITRO is our newest jacket out. We have been testing with materials for about a year now trying to find the optimal jacket that provides flotation, protection, and flexibility. The premise being that this jacket is the ultimate competition vest. The jacket has a very smooth outer skin so completely eliminates arm chafing. We also graded the padding aggressively on the front of the jacket to make it more stream lined. The NITRO fits onto you like a glove. The vest sits nicely around hip height. The jacket floats well, it'll float most people to where their shoulders are just poking out of the water. The EVO 2 is a super comfortable, durable, great feeling jacket. The material has 4 way stretch but is not quite as flexible as the material used on the NITRO. You will get more padding and buoyancy from the EVO 2. The EVO2 is our most popular jacket with great reviews from all levels of skiers Both Jackets dry incredibly quick. The EVO 2 and the NITRO do not hold water. You can take either jacket before or after being in water and the weight will hardly have changed. If you prefer a jacket that fits real snug then the NITRO is the way to go. If you prefer a little more padding and flotation but still a great fit then the EVO 2 is the one. Hope that helps, if you have any more queries feel free to message or call us M-F 9-6pm and we will be more than happy to help. We are skiers also so understand the needs of all levels of skiers. 8. The Vest will give a bit as you use it. We wanted to make sure the jacket didn't give out straight away. The vest is 4 way stretch. The material we used is very durable to being stretched, pulled, and worn. We wanted the jacket to be able to give a lot and go back to its original shape. I've been using mine for around 6 months and its shape is still the same as the first day I wore it. Don't worry to much about it being to snug, when its wet it'll give a little also.
  9. The jump settings are pretty simple once you get used to them. The letters basically are for how much pull the boat will give the skier to the jump. Letter A will give the least amount of pull and letter Z will give the most. I think @disland included a chart that is very handy to use. Don't forget about the RTB setting which disables the fast second segment pull. You would need RTB to be on if you are pulling kids or jumpers jumping less than 25meters. Hope that helps.
  10. Hi @Chris55 Your tall but within the range of our size chart for an M. Your chest size is slap bang in the middle for a medium. The material in between the padding is a thin 4 way stretch material so does give a little bit without feeling loose. Its a tough call as you could go an L. The way your explaining how you like the fit though is pointing to an M. I think you'd find the L a little bit of a loose fit. I am a 42" chest and the L fits me just right. Hope that helps with your decision. Thomas Asher
  11. Hi @cacman. Xl would fit you okay. The XL is quite generous in the chest. The Superflex Arms help with that also. We have a slalomer in an XL who is 6'4" 200lbs. Fits him nice.
  12. Performance are awesome and very knowledgeable about our products and all other watersports products. You can find our Super flex gear and EVO 2 in the shop.
  13. @Gar Here are a couple pics of our vests. We went with a little higher density padding so it can absorb more impact in the chance of a big crash. Haven't heard of anyone having any upper body complaints from a fall in our vest. I took a doozey last year, edge change at the first wake at 39off and got full on air born with the ski behind me, kind of like a wakeboard air raley with a 360 in it but on a slalom ski. The only thing that hurt was the ski coming up and whacking me in the head. Otherwise body was all good
  14. Hey Matt, Great you got to try the suit out and happy to hear it worked well for you. The suit is specifically designed to be skied in cooler conditions but without the restriction. 53 is cold man, great to hear it kept you warm.
  15. @chris55 the water shouldn't shoot up the legs. We did some testing to make sure that wouldn't happen. I've skied in my 3/4 suit a fair amount and haven't had any water shoot up. The suit is not totally dry inside. The water isn't rushing in though. The suit is stitched and tape sealed, so it takes a bit for water to get in it. As @horton said, it is comfortable and warm. We don't have any European dealers so we would have to ship from the USA. Listen, we make a great product that we would love to see more in Europe, we think our suit would fit perfect with the climate over there. The cheapest way to get gear back to Geneva is to have a friend bring it back for you. International shipping is quite expensive, their are options and we always try to find the best quotes for our customers.
  16. @Ed_Johnson Hi thanks for the query on the Stokes 3/4 leg suit. We've been really happy with the suit so far for durability. I use my suit most days not just to ski in but to change ramps, buoys etc. The material is the same used in our Slalom top, which has been on the market for a few years now. They've been holding up great. I have one that's 3 years old and still going strong. The suit is a high mobility suit in that you can bend and twist in all directions without getting any restriction. The suit is made from two different kinds of material. The body is very flexible, but the arms have a different material that's super stretchy. The goal was to create a slalom suit that wouldn't hinder mobility or generate fatigue. So from the Shoulder to wrist is very flexible. We figured if we used that in the body of the suit it wouldn't hold up well. Yes the body is a little less flexible than the arms, but its still incredibly non restrictive. If I have my hands 5" apart on the body of the suit and pull on the material I get 4.5". So basically it has 4.5" of stretch. On the arms I do the same thing I get 11" of stretch which feels awesome to slalom in as their is absolutely no restriction on the shoulders and arms. This winter in Florida has not been to cold but Rob Hazelwood was skiing in 50 degree water in the UK and not having an issue with warmth which is great for a 1mm suit.
  17. Hey guys a number of people have been asking about out EVO 2 vest. Here's a little video explaining the vest
  18. Hi all, A little video of June Asher discussing the Stokes Superflex. Available on-line or from Performance Ski and Surf or Miami Ski Nautique
  19. We designed our vest specifically for comfort and free range of movement in the course. We used jackets in the past that when you dropped in at the end of the lake you had to paddle to stay afloat. We have also seen jackets that when people have a bad slalom crash the jacket would struggle to keep them buoyant. Our jacket will keep you afloat, their is nothing worse than dropping in at the end of the lake and not being able to relax and catch your breath. If you scroll up on this thread you can see how it looks. We also have more pics on stokesskis.com. You can check out our dealers. Performance Ski and Surf, Orlando and Miami Ski Nautique. Thankyou

  21. Hi. The arms do have a pattern on the wet suit but is the same material on both. We put flex panels along the sides on the Top as a lot of people like to wear their jackets underneath. The material used on the top side panels will stretch but also go back to its original shape. It won't get loose over time. The tops are popular as they are warm but also very flexible.
