  1. Only happened because he forgot to pull down his boardies around the island. No matter how flat the wake is, absolutely impossible to run a pass showing that much white thigh...
  2. Thank you @LeonL Exactly my point.
  3. Original Malibu touchscreens have been out of warranty for years and full price from the dealer is still the only option.
  4. Hopefully this would include info on new boats as well! Without actually inquiring about the process, it seems pretty difficult to figure out how much a custom ordered boat will cost... especially now that prices are so high, most people are embarrassed to admit how much they just dropped on their new toy!
  5. Has anyone tried attaching some kind of swivel mount to the underside of the bimini then attaching to the rope somehow? Would the shake be just as bad, if not worse, because of the wind?
  6. Thanks @Ed_Johnson When we drove over the bridge on 56 last night, there was still a massive log jam. They have been closing the bridge each night to work on it but still looks like they have a long way to go. Sounds like that’s not a good sign for skiing... Will probably still give him a call to let him know he’s getting a lot of good recommendations on BOS!
  7. Quite the coincidence that this post popped up this week - fiancé and I are 8 days into our 10 day trip to Kauai. We are staying on the north shore and unfortunately, as many of you have probably seen, not the best week for the north shore of Kaui (which explains why I sadly have kept up with BOS from Hawaii...) On our first day, we saw an ad for skiing on the Wailua. We made the same comment, why would we go skiing when we can do that anytime at home? Now, given the chaos that has unfolded (mass flooding, landslides, etc.), we are unable to do over half the things we had planned (trails closed, roads blocked, beaches ruined). At risk of sounding like a spoiled tourist (obviously feel awful for the locals given many of their terrible losses), we have woken up the last three days wondering what we are going to do each day. So far, we have resorted to driving to the south side and soaking of every little ounce of sun we can get between showers. Long story short, maybe we will give Kenny a call in the morning! Not sure how his area of the river has faired, but we are up for anything at this point. Anyone have any rainy day recommendations for us on Kauai? We are staying in Princeville and have already hit just about every trail and beach the south and west sides have to offer! Thanks for the help!

  9. I don’t think the Moomba Outback is a great comparison. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the Outback was about $30k in a day when you could get a new, stripped 196 for under $40k. Who wouldn’t go with the tournament approved 196? I think the Carbon Pro had a similar issue. When our ski team was shopping for boats a few years ago, we were quoted factory direct on a base Carbon Pro with a trailer in the high $40s. For a similarly outfitted 200, we were in the mid $50s. For this to work, the slalom tug would have to give material savings over the Big 3. When you factor in the lack of dealer network to provide easy maintenance/warranty, I do not think either of the examples above provided material-enough savings to really attract attention. Given today’s Big 3 prices, I think the tug would have to stay under $40k to have a chance (I do not have nearly enough experience to know if this can be done - will continue to defer to the experts). But once we are talking $50s, I think it’s game over.
  10. Probably the same way the average joes afford the $160k wake boats... 20 year loan, act like mr hot shot, lose a bunch of money, trade it in after 4.75 years, repeat.
  11. Hmmm video says they offer the full engine line - figured they were only offering 6.2 based on picture above. Welp at least it’s not $130!
  12. Spec out either the MC or the Bu with a 6.2 and the MSRPs aren’t too far off...
  13. Funny you say that @Andre. Our dogs always just wonder the property down to the lake (Lake Lanier, GA). We have lived there for 8 years and have never seen a snake before. About two weeks ago, our 80lb doodle came back limping one afternoon. Get him inside and he is barely moving, flip him over and his paw is absolutely drenched in blood. Rush to the ER vet. Verdict was four copper head bites on the same paw! Luckily he is a tank and was only down for about a week (damn wound still has not heeled though). Dr said we were lucky it wasn’t our 25 lb mix - he wouldn’t have made it.
  14. Sorry that was in response to a comment that seems to have disappeared...
  15. So you do not think the new $130k MSRP Nautique will be a nicer (higher quality/more sophisticated/more advanced) boat than the $80k MSRP Mastercraft/Malibu? I don’t think it is a biased opinion to presume that would be the case - sounds pretty logical to me.
  16. No way! Congrats @RAWSki and @Shell!! Kristy and I recently put our deposit in for October 2019 at LLI! Maybe we could help with the morning of wedding slalom runs?
  17. Now that’s how you revolutionize skiing ^
  18. @WIRiverRat I will be following the flush, front mount approach in this thread - best pictures are on the second page. Lots of great info on Planet Nautique, hope this helps! https://goo.gl/YFzsny
  19. @bigskieridaho Bluetooth receiver will be wired into the accy switch on dash along with the amp remote wires. If the stereo is not in use, will flip off the accy switch and won’t have those issues. @ToddA I have always had issues with stargazer (continuously reboots on start up, reboots when horn is honked, etc) and have heard it’s a ground issue. I am going to run new separate grounds for stargazer and for the amps (the two amp grounds will come together in a distribution block - highly recommend the wetsounds power/ground combo distribution block for a very clean setup if you are running multiple amps) to the grounding location on the rear of the engine block. Jeff from Planet Nautique went this route and he says it worked wonders for his electrical system.
  20. I’m about to install 4 JL MX650s and a M400/4 amp in my 1999 Ski Nautique. Also went with the JL Bluetooth receiver that hooks directly into the amp - no head unit necessary. Doesn’t get much simpler than that... I am also installing an 8 inch sub under the bow for a little more punch, but from what I have heard, the MX650s would be no slouch on their own.
  21. I 100% agree that it is not a replacement - augmentation is probably a good term. Just thinking of ways to sell this - one being bringing a sense of competition to skiing without the time or monetary commitment of going to a tournament. I don’t think you’ll sell it to the early morning slalom crews by saying “pay x dollars for us to determine your average for you.” You’ll sell it by saying “pay x dollars to compete against your buddies AND skiers across the country without changing your normal routine.” Then, ideally, once they get hooked, they will want to meet up with their new friends and prove themselves at a tournament. Obviously I understand this all takes money (and probably much more than I can even imagine it would), but I also don’t think it’s worth the time and effort if it’s just going to be an excel sheet posted to a website like the current rankings lists. Coming from someone in finance - there is only so long you can keep someone’s attention on a spreadsheet. If it’s just logging in, staring at some numbers, then logging out, I wouldn’t pay to join that. I would pay (much more than $20/yr) for an interactive, social platform where I could virtually compete with my buddies any given Saturday morning across 5 different states, watch people skiing around the country (similar to my ability level, the top dogs, or see watch some nice rookie OTFs), all with some BOS type commentary layered in (asking for tips, recommendations, etc). The social aspects need to be there, you need people to want to log in, browse, and waste time on it. We need all the great social aspects of skiing that @jcamp mentioned earlier... just the 21st century version.
  22. Personally I would be willing to pay well over $20/year for it. Hopefully most users would take into account the opportunity cost of going to each tournament (tournament fee, travel, time, etc.) to justify the subscription.
  23. I fully agree with the who really cares if people are cheating concept - real tournaments will prove it. But would a pay per set lead to more people cheating? “I paid $5 for this so I’m not gonna put in a score 2 passes below my average.” Similar frustration to falling early at a tournament. If there was no pay per set, I think people would me more willing to enter disappointing (but accurate) scores.
  24. Is the goal to get more people on skis or is the goal to get more course skiers involved in some type of competition and grow “competitive” waterskiing? This concept is probably geared more towards the latter but maybe eventually would have some impact on the former? I don’t think the idea creates more water time, it just allows people to join the fun with the water time they can afford and have available to them.
  25. Sorry @jcamp. Maybe your type of skiing is not my thing, as is the case with many I’m sure... if you can’t see the difference between this idea and Class C tournaments, I’m not sure this thread is for you. Sorry to tangent again @disland. It’s hard to believe that there are still some that are not open to new ideas for this sport. Let me know how I can help - large group of early morning course skiers on our lake that would love this.
