  1. Thanks for the responses everyone, figured out the issue and it was totally my error. Zero on the little tape measure I tossed in the boat is 1” away from the end of the tape.
  2. @C5Quest I measure from the tail of the ski to the lower seam on the heel of the boot as demonstrated by Rossi in the ski setup video.
  3. @skialex it doesn’t look like I can the boot on the plate without drilling new holes. Going as far forward as possible only gets me to 30-1/8 I will reach out to Radar on Monday and see if I need a different plate.
  4. Hey BOS Set up my new 2021 Senate Lithium for a set yesterday. Recommended binding placement is 30.5”, was doing a quick swap in the boat from a 2015 senate and couldn’t get that far forward. Front boot is a radar Vapor on single plate. For those running a 2021 Senate where do you have your binding? Free skied yesterday at 29-7/8 and found it turned very quick on off side and maintained speed towards the wake. Much nicer then the 2015 I was coming off of. Not sure if there’s benefit going farther forward, can always try and see. Thanks
  5. @75Tique I ski about the same level as you, have run 28 off at 32 and 34 mph a few times. I worry less about going through the entrance gates and focus on making speed. Pull out wide enough to look straight down the 2-4-6 ball line. Progressive turn in building speed behind the boat. There’s a good spraymakers podcast on gates. You look taller in your last pass, which also had the best results. Focus on something that helps you ski taller. Hips up, proud chest, straight arms, squeeze bit cheeks etc are all ways to accomplish the same thing.
  6. We ran our course E/W this year in southern Alberta. There was typically 1hr in the evening when it was not skiable due to glare, the time shifted from June to August as the setting sun moved across the horizon. Being farther from the equator means the sun set will travel more. The worst seemed to be mid July to end of August when the sun was straight in line with the course from 7pm to 8pm which is prime-time.
  7. @LOTW my trailer is probably 22 years old and has seen some neglect. This has led to corrosion on the hub inner sealing surface allowing water intrusion. Last fall I sleeved the sealing surface, will see how things fared this year. Just another thing for you to keep in mind if your issue repeats.
  8. Hey Ballers As the title says anyone have thoughts on a D3 ION-S for a skier at 32mph & 34mph from 15-28off? This year I went from a 2017 Vapor Pro back to a 2015 Senate Graphite for improved stability. Thinking about an upgrade for the coming season and have little experience with D3 skis. Unfortunately no easy opportunity to demo where I live. I'm 180lbs so would be going with a 67" ski. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
  9. @o2bnMaine what's he wearing on his feet? I like barefooting but go as a step off a ski with board shorts and life vest type endeavor. Have seen barefoot suits before but not feet coverings.
  10. @75Tique for question #2. 4’ of anchor line length per 1’ of depth is recommended. We’ve gotten away with 3-1 but can’t get as much mainline tension so the course will banana with slight crosswind.
  11. Lots of wind this morning so water was very rough. Decided to focus on connection and swing by edging across wake and gliding high on boat. Was focused on keeping elbows tied to vest from 2nd wake during swing up. 32 mph @ 28 off. Should this require much bicep engagement? Or am I way out to lunch?
  12. @Horton said something and @Thager replied and hilarity ensued. Mastercraft released a new boat and Ballers started taking about it and off topic hilarity ensued.
  13. 2017 Vapor Pro 67” blank with fin. Great condition with minor binding marks. $650 CDN shipped anywhere in Canada. Located in Alberta. Feel free to ask any questions about use and storage.
  14. @markn that's amazing! "I ski to the buoy, grab it and a zip tie to re-attach and keep skiing...." I have to pause skiing to re-attach, not quick enough to do it during a pass.
  15. @jercrane have you listened to the Spraymakers "slumpbuster" podcast? They talk about some tips to get past a low spot.
  16. @mccowherd2006 google Seth Stisher Whips and you will see a good drill focusing on body position through wakes using smaller cuts. Another drill I use is to pull out left and glide then cut in across wake like a gate shot focusing on strength and position. Then glide on right side and cut across wake like backwards gate shot focusing on body position. This helps manage speed and give more opportunity to set body position. As you learn speed and body position start linking turns and work on width. If you havent already do some searching and reading about stack and body position on this forum. Listen to spraymakers podcast on core fundamentals
  17. @JAS how new are we talking? I would start with some close in work by throwing in a life jacket or ball and have them practice maneuvering when close to someone in the water. How to approach, how to pick up, managing rope etc. How to deliver rope back to the skier after a fall How to take all slack out of rope before pulling skier out How to gradually pull skier out Then driving straight by using a reference point on the land
  18. @Horton I'd caution about encouraging urgency to make speed. This could be misinterpreted as closing off the turn by reaching back to the handle before the ski has come around to angle. I think stack or leaverage comes first Second is completely finishing turns or skiing back to handle Third is making speed using those first two elements Just a couple seasons ago I was 15 off at 30 and 32mph skier. My weakness is trying to rush and get back to the handle too soon. I do better when I'm patient at the finish of the turn and let the ski come around.
  19. Would it be helpful to move her steering hand lower on the steering wheel? I find when I drive for a heavy puller I’m smoother by having my hand at 7 o’clock. I will also rest my forearm on my knee and use wrist movements for correction instead of full arm movements. Some people are audio learners, would someone vocalizing the “load” at hookup possibly help to learn the feel and anticipation?
  20. Spring is coming and going in Alberta Canada, still waiting for the ice to melt. I agree with managing risks and staying within limits. I told the kids we were not going to set up the trampoline yet because the potential for injury is too high and kids don’t tend to self regulate. Trampolines are a significant cause of injury. They are still outside regularly and playing on stuff that could hurt them, the potential is lower. Once the ice is gone I will start skiing, when the groups ready I will put the course in. Not going to push for personal best but will still ski for exercise and enjoyment. Mental health is important. There’s risk to everything, be smart and manage the potential. That means something different to everyone.
  21. Very interesting listen, thanks @brooks @Chris Rossi @TFIN The subject was interesting, the conversation was enlightening and the production was well done Good job, keep them coming

    Nautique 206

@Spuddy One of our ski crew had a 2008 SN206 with a tower and bimini that he sold early last spring and I have a 98 SN196. At 32mph I found 15 off and 22 off to be a bigger bump on the SN206 but not a major disruption and I typically skied similar balls. At 28 off I found the SN206 to have a harder wake and others said similar for 32 & 35 off. At 34mph we found the wakes to be more similar between the two boats with the SN206 still being slightly larger and harder however I was spending less time at 34mph. I don't have any info on collapsing the bimini and tower
  23. @aspski it is on Rattlesnake Lake which is 20 minutes west of Medicine Hat. The lake is accessed from Golden Sheaf Park. If you're ever in the neighborhood....
  24. Southern Alberta, public lake. When the conditions are good there will usually be 1 or 2 boats using the course with anywhere from 1-6 skiers between the boats. In total probably a few hours out of the weekend. All are club members that help install, remove and maintain. There is also the occasional jet-ski using it as a race course.
