  1. Gidday guys

Anyone on the new 20/21 Animals? Read a few mixed reviews here from 2017/18, just wondering if HO sorted the issues and the new ones are worth a run. Using a Radar Profile at the moment, but like old style rubber.

    Regards to all.

  2. Is there actually an "International Mens Day"? Not asking just to be stupid, but in this politically correct era, we seem to overlook the fact that a lot of guys bust their asses to look after, and provide for their families and loved ones, instead focusing on being seen to do and say the right things to support women. Like I say, not commenting for the wrong reasons, but equality works both ways.
  3. @horton No worries mate. As I said, I am far away from needing to adjust my fin, I was merely commenting as an "outside viewer". With the technology in skis these days, I would not have thought .005" adjustment on a fin would be enough to offset the effects of tiny changes to body position, slight change in foot position in a boot due to a sore toe, or even a full belly from breakfast. .005" is .125 of a millimetre, .01", .25 of a millimetre. It really is literally a hair breadth difference. Just the difference in feel different people have on a vernier can be worth a couple of thou either way.
  4. @horton I did make it quite clear it was MY OPINION only. I was not debating it it, if you reckon you can feel a massive difference with a .005" adjustment, go for your life. You may have a slightly different body position on the day or just be skiing better (or worse) or the .005" might be making the difference.

I don't need a bad attitude for making a comment.

  5. Just to throw in a hand grenade, how much is fin adjustment a placebo effect? "The experts say if I move my fin .005 this way, my ski should feel different. Wow, yeah, I can really feel the difference" Sorry guys, and this is just MY OPINION, not being good enough of a skier to need to adjust my fin, I find it hard to believe moving a fin the distance of a human hair can make that much of a difference. Again, this is just MY OPION, so don't flame me for questioning it.

What next, do we start putting index marks on handles to adjust hand position, or visual spirit levels (preferably filled with gin) on the decks of our skis to adjust hip position 1 degree forward or back?

  6. Gidday guys.

I have always wondered where does the "Syndicate" name come from with HO skis? I always thought it was a model/range of skis, but these days it seems like HO pretty much market themselves as HO Syndicate. As an example, I'd like a "HO skis" T-shirt, but it seems like they all pretty much just say "Syndicate", ski covers say "Syndicate" etc. Caps, all the apparel is Syndicate

    Always wondered......

Hope everyone has a safe and family Christmas

    Regards to all.

  7. With the limited amount of people running the mega short lengths, why not just make a stand-alone 42 off line just for that pass, then if they get through it, put the standard line back on at 43 off? Might get a few more people into that line length and widen the field a bit........
  8. Tragic story

You guys have probably heard about it but be aware of it.....

Little guy was poisoned by carbon monoxide on the back of the family ski boat, and by the sounds of it his brothers were affected as well, but fortunately not as bad. Absolutely terrible and heartbreaking.

  9. I don't believe you should have to get custom plates cut. I love the Wileys bindings, but this is the reason I sold mine, I couldn't use the full range of adjustments, but due to the horseshoes used on the Wileys, I don't see how they could modify the plate. The insert pattern on a ski dictates the hole pattern on a plate, and moving the binding on your plate just means you would have to move the plate back further.

Seems to me you would only be shifting the problem

Damn those custom plates are nice though.

  10. What has Wileys changed on their plate? I had a Wiley front boot for a while but was really disapointed that the horseshoe plastic looked like it had been cut out with a Dremel and I couldn't put screws in the holes where the cutouts were because the horseshoe was still in the way. Great boot but the cutout made it look rough and having adjustment holes I couldn't use sucked.
  11. One winter morning (in Northern Queensland, Australia, so winter is a bit loose). Water was glassy with a low fog on it, so decided to go for a barefoot. All fine and dandy, great run, fog was from water level up to about mid chest level, so I could see the boat, and my crew could see me from waist up, but when I threw the rope and was just floating in the water, my boat crew couldn't see me, and I couldn't see them. Luckily, we were the only boat on the water. After about 20 minutes of yelling, and the boat idling back and forth, the fog cleared a bit and we managed to see each other, but it certainly made us realize that it wasn't such a great idea to ski in fog. Great while you are up skiing above the fog line, not smart when you are at water level and can't see past 20 feet...…………..

And yes, I have forgotten the plug. I figure there are 2 types of boaters, those that have forgotten it, and those that haven't forgotten it...…… yet.
