Well, I did mow my lawn, then cooled off with a couple of beers. 34 centigrade and 78% humidity over here (Queensland, Australia). Would have preferred to be skiing, but the better half advised me that yard work was in my best interests.

Was interested to know if there was any numbers behind a "set" as I watched the old (2013?) Electric Nautique video where they said the battery was good for 4 sets followed by a 4 1/2 hour charge.

 

Anyway, time for another beer.

Please educate me. What is the general definition of a slalom "set"? I have seen some talk about it as 4 passes through the course, most seem to use 6 passes, some higher.

Just a Sunday morning question while I try to work up the motivation to mow my lawn.

Thanks guys, appreciate all the feedback. With the liner still on your foot, no problems jamming it back in your boot while still in the water? Which brings me to another question, putting it on initially, pull it out of your boot, put the liner on your foot, then jam it all back in, or put the liner in the boot, and jam your foot into the liner/boot?

 

I very rarely get out of the water to put a ski back on, pretty much always just put it back on while the boat is dragging the rope back round, hence all my questions about putting a liner/boot setup on while in the water

I'm more than likely going to get a new Radar Pulse boot, which comes with the removable Intuition liner. Never having used a liner style boot, and not knowing anyone who uses one, I am hoping you can give me some advice

 

1. If I eject out of my ski, does the liner generally stay on my foot?

2. Do they float? Would hate to eject out, have a liner come off, then watch it sink 2 feet from me

3. Is it easy enough to jam your foot with liner on back in your boot while in the water, or is it necessary to be on a swim platform, put the liner back in the boot, then put your foot back in?

 

 

Sorry for the (dumb) questions, would just like to know before I do anything stupid.

@gsm_peter Thanks mate. My local ski shop reckons they ski great straight out of the box, but did say heat moulding them will make them even more comfortable. Sounds like they are a good boot.

Is molding the liners necessary, and does it make that much of a difference? Sorry, never used a boot with a liner before. My old Profile is dying, so looking at going with the Pulse.

@MDB1056 According to their sizing chart, that puts you in a large. Any reason you went with the medium?

Yeah, I did look at the T Factors, unfortunately according to the sizing chart I need a XL and I am at the bottom end of the XL size range, so am concerned it will also be on the loose side even with the laces pulled up.

Well, got the 10-11 HO Animal to try, unfortunately it was way too tight across the top of the front of my foot, adjusting the overlay made no difference in that area of the boot. 11-12 would be perfect but unfortunately the next size up is the 12-13.

Really nice boot though. Oh well, looks like I stay on the Size 12 Radar Profile boot.

Does anyone know how true the Animal boot sizing is? I'm 10-1/2 AUS, so pretty much 11-1/2 US, but from what I can see, the Animals only come in alternate sizes, so I am stuck with either 10-11 US which could be too tight, or 12-13 US which is liable to be a bit sloppy. 11-12 would be perfect, but not an option. Any suggestions? Please HO, make another set of sizes, not every second set.

Oil analysis is a great tool but only when done correctly. Needs to be taken when hot, preferably from a circulating part of the system. Too many people just suck some from the bottom of their machinery sump when cold, then jump to conclusions when they get a shitty result. Needs to be done consistently to identify trends. In a boat engine, not worth it, just change it regularly and carry out your regular scheduled maintenance

How about just "The Boat". I always just say "I'm taking the boat for a run", or "let's get the boat and go for a ski", or "I'll drive the boat" and that's pretty much the same for all my mates with boats. You don't hear too many people call their boats by name.

@Drago, why have a section? If you are getting that deep why not just have a completely separate line? It wouldn't get used that often.

Hey, don't misunderstand me guys. Like I said, I'm not supporting loud boats, because I get pissed off by loud boats too, there's no need for it. I'm just saying enough to give a V-8 burble is fine by me.

That's great when we have realistically useable electric or hybrid boats, but until then, we are all still using internal combustion engines that make noise. If you want to live on a lake, people have to realise it's not just all about them. Bit like buying a house near an airport then demanding curfews and different flight paths.

I'm not saying hey get open pipes and let her rip. All I'm saying is if I've just shelled out big coin for a tournament boat I want it known that it's got some serious grunt. If people are going to whinge about a dull rumble from a boat, then we better think about banning obnoxiously loud Harleys, heavy trucks etc during certain hours or near residential areas.

@BraceMaker Agreed fully, I was merely commenting that using the batteries as storage to feed back to the grid is not great, as at some stage they have to be charged again. 65% is a bit high on the efficiency side I would have thought. Most run at 35-50% in my experience. A modern Combined cycle plant will get you to the high 50% range, but not much more. Having said that though, GEs' latest is supposedly 64% and hoping to hit 65% soon. It's definitely improving all the time

@wilecoyote but then doesn't the cycle repeat itself? If we use the cars as a giant battery during peak demand and flatten them, everyone will want to charge them up, which will in turn increase demand again, and so on.................

I've always stored mine indoors standing up, just basic common sense to store under cover and in the shade (unless of course you have no option, like having to lock it in your car unattended etc). I was wondering more along the lines of standing up, laying flat, laying on it's side, fin overhanging etc. As Horton said, I don't think it really matters, purely curious if there is any way that is regarded as "better"
