  1. Gidday guys

I have often wondered what is the best method to store a ski, standing up leaning against something, lying down flat, with the fin overhanging so it's flat on the bottom, lying on it'side etc. Probably makes no difference at all, but was curious if the manufacturers had any reccomendations or preferences.

Yeah, sitting here having a morning coffee with not much else to think about......

  2. @75Tique I always wanted that O'Brien Competitor as well. Apparently the image on it is not spray, it's actually the trees and shoreline on Herb O'Briens favorite lake (Radr Lake?). One of the members here told me that when I made the same comment about the spray. Had to settle for a World Team Comp as the Competitor was out of my price range at the time.
  3. Mate of mine here in Australia was footing along one morning and crashed. Swam over to the boat saying "Damn, my foot hurts" Then we noticed the blood, and his little toe was gone! We think he hit a floating stick. Another mate sliced his foot open badly going backwards when his driver didn't see his back step off ski floating upside down in the morning sun and towed him over it. The fin cut his foot down to the bone. Lucky it was upside down, if it was right way up and he hit the tip, he probably would have lost his foot.
  4. This is what I wrote in another thread about my Carbon Omni "I swayed to the Carbon Omni vs the Syndicate due to where I ski. Somerset Dam is big and open, and glassy water is a lucky find, so I wanted a ski that was a bit heavier and would suck up the slop. I went from a HO CX Superlite that had a PVC core like the Syndicate Omni to the Carbon Omni, and it was a lot more comfortable. I could definitely feel the "chatter" and "noise" coming through the CX. Don't get me wrong, it was a beautiful ski, it just wasn't ideal for my normal water conditions. I haven't skied Eildon, just driven past, but it looks pretty similar as far as water conditions go. The Carbon Omni will still rip thru a course happily though at my level. My ski shop swapped out the fixed fin to the fully adjustable for a small fee, so I'm really happy with it."

Ignore my references to the lakes here in Australia. I am really happy with my Omni.

  6. I'm pretty much the same as you, about 103 kg, 6'1", and went with a 2018 Carbon Omni, with a Radar Profile front boot and Radar ARTP. Love it. It's smooth, the slightly heavier layup sucks up the "road noise" of Somerset Dam, and flows through the turn without effort, but still accelerates and slows down well. I've got the 69", mostly ski at about 32. I have to admit, I prefer the 2018 graphics over the 2019, but that's just me. I went with the Profile boot over the Radar Vector or HO XMax as they were both either a bit small or a bit large due to them catering for a range of sizes, as compared to the "sized" Profile. And it gives me an excuse not to let too many people borrow it!

At 49, my tired carcass doesn't bounce like it did when I was 15........................

  7. I went through the exact same issue with a Vector boot. It was either way too tight or way too loose. Ended up with a Radar Profile in 12. Way better. In my opinion, the 4-5 size ranges that many of the boots from different manufacturers cover is just too much. For the couple of extra dollars it's money well spent. I found the Profile to be a great boot.
  8. My advice from experience, don't use a standard fabric cover for shipping. I had a standard cover on mine while it was being relocated, and unfortunately it came loose. By the time the transporter driver noticed it, the flapping cover had trashed my gelcoat. Cost $s to repair and I can still see marks.................... Heartbreaking. Go the wrap.
  9. I went from a CX Superlite to a Carbon Omni. The CX was a great ski, but noisy in anything other than glass or nearly glass (could feel the vibration and "chatter" coming through the ski because of the lightweight construction). The Carbon Omni soaks up the noise and is a lot smoother in the conditions I ski in. 6'1", and 225 on a 69" Omni at 32mph. Radar Profile front boot and ARTP. It gets my vote for open water crossover.
  10. @Frank_MA no problem at all, pretty much dropped straight on. The damper ski suits my skiing conditions better (not as "noisy", as it's rare I get glaasy water) but still lets me play with settings. Not really needed at my ability level, but nice to have.
  11. Yep, just put it on again, you can really see that it's meant to go on the inside. Feels kinda strange leaving the top bungee lace just firm but not tight, i'm so used to being snugged in tight on my old Wileys high wrap.

I really like the boot, what sold me on it was the specific foot sizing and orientation, not just the broad range that means you are either tight because it's on the smaller size range or loose because it's on the larger size range

I've got it mounted on my HO Carbon Omni, looks great, and I am already really happy with the ski, so should be a great combo.

  12. Gidday guys and girls.

I have just put a new LFF Profile boot on my ski, and am wondering if there is a correct orientation for the tongue. Like this with the tongue on the inside of the sides

or this with the tongue on the outside of the sides:

My ski shop said it doesn't really matter, but I am just wondering if there is a "correct" way to wear it.

    Looking forward to your advice.

    Regards to all.

Just wondering if it's just me or if anyone has any issues with the broad range of sizing in the entry to mid level boots. For example, the Vectors come in 5-8, 7-11, and 10-14, and in the case of HO XMax, the sizing spread is even larger (10-15 I think). In my case, with the Radar Vector, the 7-11 is slightly small, but the 10-14 is a bit loose, even when tightened up. It would be great if the manufacturers could maybe put a couple of in between sizes in the ranges. Of course, it could just be my foot is an odd one. I know I can go to a Profile or Vapor boot, or maybe wear a liner, just curious what peoples observations are.

    Regards to all
