  1. @Luzz what buckle setup do you prefer for the Evo bindings? I have been looking at these for a while but have been unsure about the release system and fitment of the bindings. Started thinking about the Revo 500 but after hearing this might just go with the Evo's.
  2. I second the radar boas. Big fan.
  3. Yeah a couple years ago I got wise and bought a 5mm Camaro wetsuit. I haven't been in water where anything but my feet and hands get cold. The wind-chill on my head after I'm up is the worst of it most of the time though. Especially late season.
  4. @thager @TomH @robmollysilverlake @skibrain What's your earliest ski after ice out? Mine was 3/30 about 10 ish years ago (didn't even use a wetsuit in those days! ?) Just chomping at the bit this year!! Now it's teens for the next week overnight!!! ? Lol
  5. Mercer lake. Minocqua, Wisconsin. When it's not frozen.
  6. I heard that About 40 Corona beers a day will give your body the right amount of vitamin c for an immune system boost. ? looks like I'll just have to drink all day. lol
  7. I have always felt that a strong core is essential to skiing. Not necessarily lifting 2-3x your bodyweight type strong but a strong core should help you maintain your position in those moments that aren't quite perfect form and taking a hit from the boat/load. I think that a good deadlift and squat are much more valuable in that than bench and I feel like I ski "easier" when I am in a good place in those lifts. Also I love planks and feel like they also seem to aid in my feeling like skiing "easier". I think cardio is the great helper though. Just my two cents.
  8. That would be a lot of fun! But personally I would be scared off by the price.
  9. Too bad Pelican doesn't make a case long enough. Those are some of the strongest cases out there. There are some companies that build custom cases by order but the cost would probably be close to $2000 again.
  10. Quite curious about that approach as well. I tend to struggle with my -32 pass but feel pretty solid at -28 but feel that I'm trying too hard therefore making too much speed that I can't turn well at the ball. @Simpson if you could try to describe more how this worked for you and what area this seemed to help you with in skiing? @jhughes if you try it this year yet I would be interested in what you thought of it. My season course skiing is at an end (northern Wisconsin) but for next year maybe it can help me.
  11. @mlange My parents own on Mercer lake in Minocqua and we have a portable course we set up every now and then I was just looking for permanent sites that are hopefully not crazy busy in the area. Kawaguesaga has a course but there's boat traffic sending rollers through it at all hours, except early morning, but if I'm up early enough to move our boat and ski that I might as well put up our course. I don't like having my course in on Mercer lake too late in the day because of the small size of the lake and boat traffic. @emwheaton thanks for the info, sounds like I might as well give up on those. Thanks for the invite probably next year will work better since the temps are starting to drop now. Do you think you'll set it up this year still? Cuz I'll still ski till late October. If either of you wanna ski at my site PM me. It's hard to find people to ski with up here for some reason.
  12. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the thread but I was talking to someone about a permanent course that is on the three Lakes chain in northern wisconsin. I was out there today and went to where I thought it was supposed to be but found nothing. I asked some people I saw skiing about the course and they knew nothing about one either. Does anybody know where or if there is a course that gets put in on the chain? And if so what lake is it?
  13. Yeah in order to leave it in overnight you need a permit from the DNR. My brother @ShererSkier looked into this a couple years ago when we first bought our portable course.
  14. @perfski I have bought a bunch of ski equipment through you and have never had anything but a good experience. You guys saved a ski vacation of mine last year when I damaged my ski a week before and bought a VTR with free three day shipping. I almost exclusively purchase through you and I don't want anyone seeing this as bashing or suggesting anything contrary to you being an excellent store and great supporter of this community. I am posting this solely so you are aware of this so you can better yourselves and continue being my favorite watersports store. My last purchase of a Radar HRT and HO RTP through the online storefront has not been good. After paying $33 in shipping costs for 1-7 day ground shipping the HRT took 2 weeks to arrive. The RTP still has not arrived. The Radar binding apparently shipped direct from the manufacturer's factory and the HO was supposed to have shipped from the factory, not from your store inventory. The assistance from your staff has been great I am sure the RTP will arrive. It's just the cost of the shipping considering the amount of time it is taking to receive the items is concerning and unusual. Again I wish to reiterate that I am not saying any of this to bash you and I intend to continue buying from you. Thank you for being a great company who are usually easy and pleasurable to deal with.
  15. :D hahahahahaha!! I passed this thread up earlier on my lunch break, I really wish I would have read and watched it now!
  16. Wow! That's amazing! I don't have any advice as far as the bindings or ski but that's just incredible that he got up on 1 at 5 years old, that's how old I was when I learned 2 skis on the boom. Good luck with your search.
  17. So I have never really heard anything about this company but came across their name in another thread I had about the Radar HRT. I am looking to change my binding system away from the animal double boots I currently use and have been focusing on what rear binding I want to go to. I don't think I want a double hardshell setup so I have been looking at some options. I was curious about the Radar HRT but when I tried one I didn't like how much heel movement I had, it felt like I might as well have been using an RTP. Having skied with a rear boot pretty much since I started slalom skiing it felt WAY too foreign and I decided that it was not going to work out. I am looking for something that will allow more ankle flexibility without sacrificing the heel stability and firm heel hold of the rear boot. I have also looked at the Reflex R-type rear binding system but am not convinced that is the right system for me. thanks @Wish for the info and offer. I am curious what anybody thinks of the EVO RS CUSTOM-HYBRID REAR BOOT SYSTEM https://fluidmotionsports.com/collections/all-systems/products/evo-rs-custom-hybrid-rear-boot-system This to me looks like it would provide more of a rear binding feeling heel hold and also allow for greater ankle flexibility. has anybody used this system? And if so what did you think of it? also I'm curious if it would fit behind a HO Syndicate hardshell's release mechanism (the only hardshell I have easy access to that I am planning on trying very soon) also if anyone has used any of Fluid Motion's front bindings I would appreciate any insight as to what you thought. I am looking at the REVO 500 for a front boot but cannot find any on ski it again that will work. Currently they are not running a demo program unfortunately. I am also considering getting a D3 T-Factor front boot as an alternative to the hardshell front but I will have a better idea about that after I try the Syndicate hardshell boot my friend has. thanks all.
  18. I've heard that there are or used to be an issue with part of the vectors wearing in a spot that you couldn't replace as a separate part so people ended up needing to replace the binding. Not sure if that is still the case but deffinately worth looking into if your considering them.
  19. Yeah depends on how good of a price and what your willing to put up with.
  20. @ThePantsManCan Yes he did eventually get his ski but it took while, can't remember exactly how long. Nerve-wracking nonetheless with no word or shipping confirmation. I guess just keep trying, best of luck to you.
  21. I'm on animals and in the same predicament you are. Thinking of switching but unsure what to get. I'm currently leaning towards a fluid motion setup. (Hardshells) fortunately I have a friend with syndicate hardshell front binding I'm gonna try first to get an idea what hardshells feel like. I had one problem with my animals three years ago, I didn't release properly from the front and sprained my ankle badly. However the new animals don't have laces like mine (I keep my rear boot as loose as it can be) so not sure how comfortable or how well they release. Have you looked at the T factors from D3? They sound to be the best evolution a rubber boot can be.
  22. @tru-jack still looking? I have one I'm looking to sell. I'm in US though but it doesn't look like any major shipping problems there. I modified the plate slightly to fit behind my animal boot as close as I wanted it to but only had to take off maybe 1/8th in. Of the very front of the plate.
  23. I have a 2005 or 06 (can't remember exactly) HO Vengeance ski that I used to ski on, I am just curious what the binding and fin factory settings are supposed to be? I bought a VTR a couple years ago from the same shop I got the vengeance from and the setting were WAY off of factory so I'm assuming the vengeance is off too.
  24. I would also say carb. Sounds similar to a problem with an 86 mc prostar my family had. Rebuilt the carb and a little tuning afterwards and everything's great.
  25. I'd suggest looking at some instructional and tips video. Maybe Google Seth Stisher and try to find some drills that will help get you in the right position on the ski and thinking about the right things. What many people seem to struggle with early on is attacking the wake. A lot of new skiers tend to slow down and flatten out, when your on edge the ski will cut right through it. As for the slack in the rope I think a lot of that is because your pulling so much after the wakes right up until you turn. Doing good for a new skiers keep it up and hope the advice helps.
