  1. I think at the intermediate level is the most dangerous point. When your getting faster and faster but don't necessarily have access to the training that will put you on a good and "safe" position on the ski. Also you want so much to progress you probably don't give up on a bouy when you should. Considering I skied with a 80+ man a year ago (28 mph @ 22 off through the course) I would say that this is a reasonably safe sport that people can continue to participate in for a long time as long as their willing to do what it takes. I plan on skiing when I'm 80+!
  2. @JaredSmith Feel free to correct me anyone but I would imagine that decreased concave would produce more speed as the Denali C75 has a deep concave bottom and is a "slow" ski (you have to work more to make speed) but I'm sure there are other factors that contribute to the new radar having more speed other than how concave the bottom is. Very interesting though.
  3. Really just disappointing to see this kind of business being done in the skiing community that is usually so friendly and helpful to each other.
  4. Totally agree I got one this year and couldn't be happier with it. The only thing is if you try to adjust it a bit after your up it's so slick that your hands just slide off lol.
  5. Definitely a great company to deal with my brother had a delamination issue and they directed him another ski in no time.
  6. Does anyone know or have done business with Marty from Discount Wake and Ski and Mountain Water Snow Sports shop in Bend Oregon? I have a friend that paid for a ski, Marty said he had a line on an HO VTX that had a defect, the top pattern wasn't aligned properly so he could get it cheap. ($800) My friend paid with his card and has not seen the ski, never received a tracking number, and has been unable to contact Marty since. He's emailed and called multiple times and nothing. What's with this guy? He apparently has two businesses or is at least involved in them.
  7. @shererskier beat me to it lol. They are fine with people using it as long as everyone is respectful of each other. Naturally if they are using it they have the priority but we've shared it with them a couple times.
  8. Cool, thanks guys. @BraceMaker I thought for the mob system you want a boot that will not come off because it will sink. Are you using the double mob system or are you using just the plate for the boot to mount it to your ski? @MS good to know I was looking at the boa but will probably go with the string tie now. I have my rear as close to my front foot as possible and want to keep that if I'm gonna try something new.
  9. So I've been using double animal bindings or something close to it basically forever. Lately I've been looking at different binding setups and have always been curious about the Hybrid Rear Toe plate bindings that Radar makes. I feel like it would allow my rear ankle to flex much more freely while maintaining some of the "locked in" feeling that a full rear boot gives you. I'm just curious about opinions in the community about this style of binding and how well they release. Right now I'm kinda leaning towards the T Factors and one of the HRT's but am planning on trying the syndicate hard shell too but figure the HRT would be good to try before changing the front binding.
  10. @Lars I had a fall very similar to that a couple years ago and ended up with a bad sprained ankle. Mob would have saved it as the reason it sprained was because my foot got stuck half way out of my animal binding.
  11. Really good idea to start this topic. I have been curious of what the community has thought of these two fins and how they each have changed the performance of the skiers using them.
  12. @Tkl127 is that ski school in Three Lakes for course skiing? I'm in Minocqua and can't ski a course as often as I would like.
  13. @waterskicorey the material they make the vest out of is the main difference. It's much more "slick" than the v1 so your arms won't chafe on the vest while skiing. I have one and love it but fyi they do run small. I just emailed Stokes with my size and asked what they suggested.
  14. More like Kimi Raikkonen syndrome lol.
  15. I would deffinately recommend Eden lake in Fort Meyers, beautiful site to ski!
  16. 75 off to be enjoyed sitting in the boat. Haha
  17. @oldjeep it let itself get taken out of the water.
  18. Totally agree with everything! I bit the bullet and bought one last year to extend my season as long as possible (Northern Wisconsin) and am simply amazed at how warm mine is! I actually start to overheat until I get into the water, now I need a neoprene beanie and some thin neoprene socks to help fight the wind chill when air temps are 40F. I have one of the Camaro "semi dry" suits, I can't remember the exact one (5mm thick). I only get very little water leakage and what does leak in my body temp warms up in no time.
  19. @jboss I'm in for sure Since were showing off pics I think it will be a while before I can get my boat out of that snowbank.
  20. I think you mean your break from skiing is over rather than season beginning. Haha. My ski site and boat have a long ways to go before the season starts!
  21. https://flofast.com Best solution to carrying gas cans I have seen. The pump empties the 10 gallon can in 30 seconds.
  22. I think this was passed a year or two ago. My brother and I have issues finding spotters for our early AM course skiing so we figured what would be the harm in going no spotter as the lake is empty at 6 am. We both had the worst OTF's we've ever had and we think he had a minor concussion. Last time I'll ski without a spotter.
  23. Cool video! Reminded me of the episode of "How it's Made" that you guys did, that was really cool to watch!
  24. My brother and I skiid there for the first time in April this year and it was great! Our first time skiing zo and after not skiing for 5 months, so I didn't do my best but was still a blast and very instructive! Great place to ski we'll both be trying to get back there this winter at some point.
