  1. This is just what I've been looking for! My parents have gone nuts collecting old skis this will put them to good use thanks!
  2. @dave2ball I probably will send it in but am not sure if I will end up using it anymore because of the damage it did to my ski. I know that any handle can potentially damage a ski but this handle has a much higher chance of doing that than standard handles. Search "Worst Way to Start a Day" for some pics of my ski. It's a topic I started after it happend. This is the second time I have had these handles break like this and my brother has had it happen also. Unfortunate because I really liked the handle.
  3. @dave2ball this is what @ShererSkier and I are referring to. There is nothing to stop the rope in the handle from rubbing on the edge of the aluminum core when the handle caps break like this.
  4. Are the caps at the end of the handle hard or soft?
  5. Wow! That really brings back memories. Really wakes you up though haha.
  6. You may be pulling too long after center. If you edge change sooner you should be able to scrub off more speed and turn down on the ball rather than your turn happening further and further past (down course) the ball. Also I think it looks like the handle become disconnected too soon, if you keep it close to your COM (center of mass) during edge change and preturn loading with your leading (outer) hand you will get your width quicker making you earlier at the ball.
  7. @Canuck44 Deffinately listen to @SkiJay and consider getting his book, reading that really helped me understand a lot more than just fin setup. But if you do move your bindings back be sure you can get enough pressure on the front of your ski to get good tip access in the turn. Also I would suggest verifying that the skis fin is set to the factory recommended specs before messing around too much. I bout a ski 2 years ago from a local shop and it was nowhere near set properly.
  8. There are just so so many reasons but I agree that a big one is that the dealers just don't bother stocking the slalom boats, my local mc dealer hasn't had I prostar in easily 10 years. That combined with lazyness and the fact everyone wants to drink all day everyday and sleep late kinda makes slalom not even an option. People just don't care enough to even try learning to ski at all it's too hard or skiing is boring is what I hear from many people. My big thing against those boats aside from everything already said is the impact on the shoreline! I live on a 256 acre lake and I want it to stay that size. I have spoken to people on other lakes in the area and some of the shoreline have expanded More that 50 feet in the last 15 years! Cue DNR!!! On the bright side I have seen more people skiing or learning to ski on my lake this year than i have in the last 5 years combined. That has me excited! Hopefully this trend continues.
  9. I'm thinking it's more of a technique related problem rather than finsetup. I was having similar issues last year and I think it was caused by me letting the handle go too soon and poor handle connection coming off the edge change into the pre turn. 28 is when handle control starts getting more important and 32 it's crucial.
  10. Got it! Yeah I'm just going to get masterlines 13" radius handle next. Never want to see that happen to my ski again.
  11. @thager yeah I have the hard cap which is now broken since the disagreement it had with my ski. Lol new ski should be here today.
  12. So one week before a vacation that I plan on setting up my slalom course a couple of times I get up and go skiing and... Happened when I fell. The handle was ripped out of my hands and slammed into the top of my 2016 VTR doing that and breaking my Masterline Radius Ergo Anti-Roll handle. Good thing @perfski had a 2017 VTR in stock and offers 3 day shipping!
  13. I'm not saying that this needs to be the future of slalom or that I want the Olympic committee to dictate how anything should be done in this sport. And honestly I thought of the problem of the boat being motorized on my way to work after I posted this morning. Although other big events already host skiing or could possibly host skiing unfortunately they are not all televised worldwide and sometimes not televised at all, therefore being overlooked. I wish it weren't the case but there it is. There is no bigger stage as an athlete than the Olympics. Maybe a cable course is an option, I don't know but it would put skiing on a worldwide stage even if only for an hour or two, in that time people could have their interest sparked and that's what we need to keep this sport alive and growing. I would support anything that leads to that goal. Sorry for opening old wounds with this but I am 28 and didn't know about half of the problems this has had in the past. I know that the event can be complicated to follow for the uninitiated but as others have pointed out there are plenty of other sports out there that I cannot visually see the difference between performances but those who can are in awe when something happens. Hopefully those knowledgeable people are helping the others understand as they are watching, this sport cant and wont be saved just by putting something on TV, we need the community to help and work together.
  14. I have read multiple threads about how to spark interest in slalom skiing again and seeing as the Olympics have been going on my brother @shererskier and I thought "why isn't slalom skiing a summer Olympics event?" I have no idea what it takes to get approval to add a sport to the Olympics but with some of the other events that have been added in recent years how has slalom skiing not been considered? Or trick and jump as well. With so many important and influential people in the sport active on this site I thought this would be a good place to start for ideas to get the ball rolling. We were thinking for slalom qualifying it could start in standard format and the top 10-20 scores (depending on how many contestants entered) would progress. After that (for the sake of competition) it could switch to the head to head format for the next couple days to decide the medalists. @Horton @FWinter @SkiJay @twhisper just wondering what you and other ballers think about this? Or if this has ever been talked about?
  15. @braindamage I couldn't just give up on 2 ball I, could have skipped to it haha. @Drago yeah I tried a couple of more passes that day but just couldn't do anything for some reason.
  16. my first attempt at didn't go as planned.
  17. Just found out about this, on this thread, and I was planning on going. For my first time! If there is any chance for a clinic I'll go or if I still end up in Milwaukee and some ballers want to ski PM me and I'll pack my stuff and head out, got a hotel anyways would be a shame to waste it.
  18. Yeah! if you can do that at 28 off then 15 off will feel like a walk in the park! even at 32 or 34 MPH. Good Job!
  19. I live in Minocqua and ski regularly. when were you wanting to ski?
  20. Oh yeah. just got up waved to the neighbors pull out and then... Nothing like a little crash to get the adrenaline flowing! haha cant believe I didn't OTF
