  1. Warm car, boat, and gym. Other stuff is in the cold garage.
  2. @epnaultLove my skierg as well. Not many people know what those are, so I rarely mention them. I get a lot of blank stares. @adkh2oskierTrails look nice. I do a decent amount of my cross country skiing with a headlight. Works great.
  3. I do feel bad for you guys that are stuck in no man’s land. It’s not winter, but it’s not summer. That would be my worst nightmare.
  4. I hear what you guys are saying. It’s hard to beat a great day on the lake in the summer. Although, all the different seasons and opportunities to do different things is what I love about living in the upper Midwest. Here’s one other idea if you’re stuck inside for months on end, and can’t water ski. Buy a Concept2 row erg. Buy it, don’t use the one at the gym. That way there’s no excuse for not using it, and they cost less than most skis. Row 4-7 days a week. Do a 2k every 3-4 weeks, and see how you stack up to people throughout the world. It’s a true apples to apples comparison. And it will probably help your skiing.
  5. I had more water in the bilge of our 196 last summer thank normal. After using I always put it on the lift, pull the drain plug, then replace the plug when the water is out. There was more water after every use, but also later in the day or the next day, there would be more water in the bilge. That hadn't happened before. Never really figured it out until I was winterizing it. Turns out I over tightened a hose clamp on the transmission cooler which caused it to partially collapse, and leak.
  6. Quit whining, dress warm, get outside, and enjoy a winter hobby. There's plenty of things to do during our winters.⛷️🏂, etc, etc 😀
  7. @jjackkrashOK, that makes sense. Probably does help with the strength training.
  8. @jjackkrashAre you doing intentional bulk and cuts? A 40 pound swing is impressive.
  9. Down a few pounds since cross country ski season started in November.
  10. @rockdog well, that’s interesting. Is this some aftermarket part, or should it have been there in the first place? Either way, I wouldn’t use the heater nearly enough to put more parts into it. I actually am one of those guys who would buy the very basic ski boat mentioned in the other thread. I don’t need much.
  11. @vtjc Thank you very much for the info. Great advice! I will try to source some plugs instead of using a bypass hose. I've actually used that link before. This is the 5th time I've winterized it, and always put antifreeze into the heater core. That part isn't a big deal. I read that these heaters can have a short life. My plan was to not replace it if it fails. Grabbing a sweatshirt would be easier than replacing something we almost never use. Our previous 1994 had a heater as well. We rarely used that one, and I think I used the current one once last summer. I live in a colder climate, and we almost always ski early morning with air temps in the 50's, water temp in the mid 70's at best. The heaters work great when under speed. However, after 30 seconds or so of running at idle, all it does is blow cold air.
  12. @ETskier I agree with converting to ZO at some point. I'll keep using what's there until it breaks. We're low level open water skiers, and I doubt this boat will ever see a course when I own it.
  13. Interesting. Thanks everyone.
  14. @Jmoski @BraceMaker Thank you both for the input. Great idea to leave the heater lines intact. I saw the E control computer recently. Didn’t pay much attention the previous four years of ownership. The unit on the dashboard is definitely Perfect Pass. I always thought those two companies were totally separate, and not compatible? So I have a perfect pass head unit linked to a zero off computer controlling my speed? Probably one of those boats that would be easy to upgrade to full zero off?
  15. I have a couple quick questions about my Excalibur 330 that is in a 2007 ski nautique 196. The first one is what do I do when my heater starts to leak, and I don’t plan to replace it? Do I need to get some plugs for the inlet and outlet points on the engine? Would a temporary fix be running a length of hose between those two points? I almost never use it, and don’t want to mess with it if it leaks. The second question is how does perfect pass control the speed with this set up? It looks like it’s electronic, and not mechanical. I know this is right around the time perfect pass switched to zero off. I’m mostly just curious about this one.
  16. Got it. Makes perfect sense. Appreciate the info.
  17. @dabeej20 Hope it goes well for you. There was a different thread where people talked about putting down a deposit. I still don't completely understand how it works with a private party. Since you just did it, could you explain how it worked in your situation? I don't care about amount, just what form of payment, how you received it, and what guarantees are there for either side? Meaning, how can the buyer get it back if they don't want to purchase? And how does it prevent you from selling to someone else if they pull up with cash in hand one minute after taking the deposit?
  18. @dabeej20 Did you sell it, or just remove listing?
  19. Whoops. This might look better.
  20. Sunrise and sunset. The boat is really close, just not in the picture.
  21. @Lars That makes sense. I might have misunderstood the previous advice. I thought people were seeing a boat advertised somewhere, calling the person up, and making a deposit right then before even going to look at it.
  22. How does the deposit work with a private party? What do you give/send/wire, and what guarantee do you have you can get it back if you don't end up buying? And vice versa. If someone accepted your deposit, what prevents them from selling the boat 5 minutes later when someone shows up in the driveway with enough cash to pay in full? Especially if you can't see the boat in person for two or three days. Does the seller turn down the full asking price in cash just because you sent them some type of deposit, and are 90% sure you will purchase? Just curious. Never did that before. I always felt I needed to be ready to buy immediately or risk getting nothing.
  23. I'm glad it's 7-8 hours away, and I don't really have a place to store it with winter coming soon. Otherwise, I'd be buying it as the "back up boat" that I keep telling my wife we need. Although, I really just like Ski Nautique's, and want another one.
