  1. Right now show ski jumpers from Connelly, their HC 800 68 to 70", sell at $1999 blank. You need to order in the Fall so they can set time aside to build them during the winter. The local show ski club purchased multiple pairs a few years ago in October and took delivery in early Spring. Some clubs have had good success with D3's short jumpers and they retail for less. The prices of new have made used jumpers, even those 30 years old, worth more now than when they were new. No question it is a sellers market.
  2. Punch holes in the wrap and to loosen the fit. Be warned, a Wiley is a bugger to put back together. Have multiple pairs of vice-grips on hand for an easier time.
  3. It's fun to speculate but again, we are a long way away from having batteries and charging that will produce the results the vast majority of people will demand. Correct Craft did this already with the 196 as a demonstration of what is possible, if, big if, the battery manufacturers and research can develop a quantum breakthrough. That hasn't happened despite hundreds of millions spent and it may be decades before it does. Who wouldn't want a tug that was silent and didn't require hauling gas? That doesn't mean it will happen. On the other hand who wants to haul a boat to a level 3 charger for an 80% charge when that charge will give you an hour on the water? And what are you going to haul it with? Not a naysayer just a realist whose looked at this closely.
  4. Nautique 210. "The powerful 220 kW electric motor with 700 Nm accelerates the boat to over 75 km / h and lets you glide gently on the water. The energy required for more than one hour of water sports is provided by the latest generation of lithium-ion batteries from Sony." Again, boats are incredibly inefficient and power hungry. 1 hour and a couple of days to charge might work for Scott C. but not for a vast majority. To become mainstream we need to see a quantum breakthrough in energy storage. Companies are spending hundreds of millions on achieving that goal but as of yet there is nothing on the horizon, or should I say that just like fusion it is always just around the corner.
  5. Textbook skiing by Marcus. His angle and speed make that look easy.
  6. I don't have anything against electric powered anything but from a practical standpoint the electric application for a ski boat, in an already minuscule market, is minimal at best. It isn't much better for the V8 powered truck that will pull the boat to the lake to ski. Not a boat for a tournament. They won't run that long and no one is going to have a Level 3 or even Level 2 charger handy at the dock. A Level 1 charger can take 3 days to charge a Tesla S that is run down. So if you own one you won't be skiing in a tournament behind one. I can hear the whining now. Maybe someday if there is a quantum breakthrough in battery storage but not in the foreseeable future.
  7. "As they scale back production of V8 blocks and ICE's in general what do you think will happen to costs?" LOL, not in the immediate future nor the longterm. The limiting factor remains battery technology where quantum leaps are always just around the corner, except they never come and if they ever do it will be with exotic materials and exotic costs.
  8. Savvy move? How so? The batteries are heavy. 1600 lbs in a Tesla and then the weight of the motors vs less than a 1000 lbs for an H6 and another 150 for 25 gallons of fuel. This would make for a very heavy three event boat and with the energy required to move water the range would be severely limited. Maybe the weight would be okay in a wakeboard boat but the range would be a joke. Not something for a day on the water. Safety with that kind of electrical power on the water? Cost of charging stations at your dock or the marina? Propane or LNG makes far more sense.
  9. Heavy, requires a high amperage power source to recharge, limited battery life.
  10. I used to, so did my daughter. Wife is a dentist and insisted. It really is a good idea with few, if any, downsides. Teeth are expensive to fix not to mention the soft tissue damage they can cause in the mouth with a hard fall.
  11. I have used them for decades and never had a problem. I accept that my experience may or may not be representative of what could happen to me or anyone else tomorrow. I have been injured many times and almost always because I made the millisecond decision to push too hard when I should have skied away. One stupid ball in practice put me in the hospital for 5 days, and it wasn't during a tournament and it had nothing to do with my equipment. Know when to let up and ski again another day. Easy to say, hard to do for competitive, driven people.
  12. Post his name. He owns this. Inexcusable. Sad that we share the planet with people like this.
  13. 78ºF in NorthEastern Wisconsin. Unseasonably warm, we almost never see temps over 75º. Love it.
  14. Our club has an 05 196 with the ZR6. In 2013 our local dealer found that the stringer supporting the engine cradle had collapsed. The theory was the stringer was defective from the get go and finally the cradle let go. Long story short. Correct Craft did not bat an eye. They flew a factory tech up to the dealer, pulled the engine, rebuilt the stringer and replaced the engine cradle. No cost to the club, no hassles, no questions. Dealer said Lifetime Warranty and we were back on the water in 3 weeks. Manufactured products have defects, that is a given, how the manufacturer/dealer treats its customers and fixes those defects is the real test.
  15. Skip Dunlap has carpet inserts for the SN 200 OB and CB. Excellent fit and covers almost everything. Skip is an awesome guy to deal with if you are interested. I think I paid around $350. 863-605-0340
  16. 40-50 hours. What the manual for PCM calls for. Sometimes a little early if I know I am going to be using the boat a lot in the coming days. Rather change early that wait.
  17. Premium in all the boats I have ever owned, lawn stuff, and sadly it is required in my AMG Mercedes, Lancer EVO and daughters STI. Should have been an oilman.
  18. Freddie won, my feed went out before Ryan hit the water.
  19. All I can say is WOW! Beyond impressive.
  20. Little strange seeing Ramlin as a sponsor when they are no longer making trailers.
  21. Maybe a silly question but does anyone know how these boats are supposed to be lifted? I don't see the traditional bow and stern lifting rings.
  22. A sweet deal then.
  23. The ski-it-again 200 is a little off. "2014 Ski Nautique 200 Team with the following options: PCM ZR450 w/2.5 hours w/6 mths parts warranty". Boat completely refurbished? Sounds like it was re-powered with the 450 or more likely a 409.
